I will wait for a reply from Castellon. Meanwhile, if it turned out to be impermissible to use Google Drive for hosting it, what alternatives do you recommend for hosting them? Thanks for the reply.

Torrents. Oh, wait...

Yup, mediafire or sth like that is your best bet probably.

I just belatedly noticed this thread. Is using Google Drive to host my personal mods I just posted link to on another forum thread allowed? The folder containing it there are restricted to anyone with links to it so that meant, since it was linked only in modding sub-forum which is restricted to registered users, only registered users here could see it. Still, I'm not sure if I'm in the clear...
Do not see how your Google drive is different than any other file hosting site.
As long as you are direct linking from within the mod sub forum you are fine.

What prevents the user from removing that line?
If someone else alters your code to access material they should not have, we are not going to hold you responsible for that if you have taken reasonable steps, although if it becomes an issue we may ask you to alter what you are doing. I do not decide specific content issues, just codify the rules and enforce them. Specific content allowed is up to the Studio, in this case PDS.

Torrent links would be removed and the poster penalized. ;)

I'm relieved to hear I'm in the clear here. :p

I've never personally used Torrent and know little about it except for its notorious reputation for hosting illegal content, so I'm guessing that reputation have to do with it being proscribed here?

Also notorious virus magnates.

How about github as a host alternative to the virus magnate mediafire, for small mods (<50MB)? Would make mods easily hostable as a .zip file for those who want to use it, and make mods easily searchable for other modders trying to figure out how to do stuff. Issues and Wiki could even be disabled as part of the terms of using it. The links advertised in the paradox forums could be direct download only, or if you permit a link to a gh_pages page which can be automatically generated from the github project.

Mediafire and it's ilk probably won't survive the TPP treaty, and even if that treaty gets mothballed the megaupload-like sites surely have their days numbered.

EDIT: I may have been too judgemental about mediafire, they seem to have changed a whole lot since the last time I dealt with them. Still think github could be a terrific alternative.

I got permission to distribute my mod's beta version via GitHub, so that should be fine.

Nice! Was there any concern about using the Issue Tracker and Wiki features? I mean those technically both have public forum-ish abilities.
No idea. I don't use those features (well, pull requests technically count as issues, but that's it) so it never came up.

Our team is working on an EU4-based mod,the provinces.bmp was my teammate (he got an EU4,I got a VIC2) modified from VIC2's. The rivers.bmp and terrain.bmp are vanilla's but modified by our new provinces.bmp.But the thread Rules for User Made Mods and Edits says "No material from one Paradox IP(Game or DLC, includes any content in them) may be used in a user mod, unless that mod can assure only people with that other Paradox IP installed can use it. If doing that is beyond the technical ability of the particular mod maker or it is impossible then they cannot be used."May I ask if our maps had broken the rules?I can’t assure only people with more than 2 IP can play this mod.

IP stands for Intellectual Property (you seem to confuse it with Internet Protocol). You can freely modify provinces.bmp and any file in the map folder for that matter. Virtually every bigger mod does.

This point is there to make sure mods do not allow players to access DLC features without owning appropriate DLC's (like Muslim events from Muslim DLC for example).

I'll just go ahead and ignore all those rule since they are not applicable anyway due to Danish contract law, which states that hidden clauses and such don't matter. Any rules presented after purchase are void, which means all those fancy rules don't apply unless they're already covered by applicable law or part of a license or contract presented to me, as part of the purchase.

Except you did agree to abide by the rules when you joined here and you will or you will no longer be a member here, nor be allowed to post about your mod here or use steam workshop, which is what these rules refer to. We would love to have you as a part of our community here, but as with any community there are rules to follow, so the choice is yours.

I have a download link to my mod Aurora Universalis in a thread on this forum and have also uploaded it to Steam Workshop. Now, some people have problems subscribing to it in Steam. Am I thus compliant with the rules above if I on Steam Workshop post a direct link to the mediafire download?

No but you could link to the thread here that has the link.

MEIOU & Taxes has a soundtrack composed by one of our team members. Would it be permissible for us to upload our soundtrack to Spotify and note on the forums that the music can be listened to through Spotify? They would not be paying us to listen to our songs nor would they be donating to us.

If your team are the creators of the music I do not see why not.
