Have you read Life2.0 - a Broken Shackles Narrative? I am always a sucker for narrative-driven AARs, but this story has something going on that elevates it to a higher level in my opinion.

@CBR JGWRR has populated the story with a cast of compelling characters. Naomi and Buri, and the relationship between them, is but the tip of the iceberg. There aren't many AARs that juggle large numbers of cast members and stick the landing, but @CBR JGWRR is doing just that. You'll come for the Sci-Fi prison break story and stay for the family drama. (sprinkled with healthy dusting of armed rebellion against a deadly Megacorporation)

I nominate Life2.0 - a Broken Shackles Narrative by @CBR JGWRR for the Weekly AAR Showcase!

Life 2.0 is good, and we finally have an explanation of the title!

Congrats @CBR JGWRR!

Thank you. :)

To add a bit more background, the story follows Stellaris' recent release of the First Contact DLC, and with it the Broken Shackles Origin, in which various pre-FTL races are captured by a slave ship, and they manage to break free in a mutiny and set up on a new world together. Hence the title.

Subsequently Naomi - a Human woman, trained from birth to break the shackles - after leading the mutiny leads the initial colony into freedom, and marries Buri - a Xenayan man (think gorilla body with an ox head and lion hunting behaviour) - who was her second in command in the mutiny, a few years later, and end up adopting a Xenayan daughter.

So far we've gotten a few years in (it is on my todo list to recheck the timeline as I've kind of lost track of the calendar) to the the narrative and we're about to start seeing reform into a functing government after an election night saw Buri led a slight rebellion to try and make Naomi queen at the same time as a different character leads their own revolt.

The narrative will continue into developing the conflict with Minamar Specialised Industries, leading into stepping onto a galactic stage.

And if the family drama is noteworthily dramatic now, just wait until we see Naomi's brother and his merry band of slave-liberating pirates; one poisonous mammal, a few dangerous reptiles, the hot one and my take on Star War's Extended Universe's best character. :)

And just like that, the week has gone by so quickly.

I do have to confess, I meant to read a few more AARs, but as said, I lost track of time. Therefore, I believe that I should open the opportunity to nominate a new weekly AAR showcase up again to the forum.

Congrats @Uriel Blackwing!

That might be the first time an AoW4 AAR has won... although I could be wrong there.

There's only 3 AoW4 AARs out so far, and his has by far progressed the furthest. I only have my prelude up, and idr the username of the other guy but I doubt he has posted as much as Uriel.

It's a really good quality AAR in storytelling and legibility, and currently the most progressed one.

I nominate @https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/members/uriel-blackwing.855458/ Blackwing for his AoW4 AAR: The fourth age

Give me a sec...

This guy -> Uriel Blackwing

@Uriel Blackwing

Okay, if someone can tag this guy for me, idk why it is not working.

Here's a link to the AAR: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/the-fourth-age.1582196/

Got it! Uriel, not Urial

My sincerest apologies, Urial.

Congratulations to @Uriel Blackwing (and Urial Redwing as well as Uriol Bluewing). Congratulations, Uriel.

Wow, thank you! Honestly didn't know if anybody but a few even followed my stuff. XD

Although I rarely participated in this forum, its nice to get some recognition for the first serious attempt to contribute.

I am hobby-writer, though this is my first time actually doing an AAR and holding protocol over my playthroughs. The experience has been an interesting one so far. As for the Fourth Age itself, well the brief synopsis is that its basically meant as a continuation of the main story-campaign. It follows the fallout of the final scenario, incorporates the lore from the previous Age of Wonders titles and uses some custom characters to spin the narrative further. The main conflict is meant between Sundren, the protagonist of AoW3, and the heroes of the current title and how that plays out.

I already have the first Arc basically mapped out and simply need to write everything down. Its meant to mostly introduce readers to the setting and the important characters and mechanics and then move on from there.

If this gets a good following, I will probably incoporate any future DLC's, as well. But thats just speculation at this point.

Thank you again, for this honor. :)

Many congrats @Uriel Blackwing! I'm not terribly familiar with the game but any effort to both write AND get involved in AARland is to be applauded! Great to see you join in and well done!

In that case, I'd like to nominate @Olden Weiss for From Pendragon to Prominence, an AAR about the descendants of King Arthur (well, a historical version of King Arthur) who have become Saxonized and now rule a small earldom in Mercia. It also features a gigantic Wales and relations between a pious Catholic and a heretic that aren't "kill him immediately".

Congratulations @Olden Weiss! Welsh, Vikings, Franks; what are your Anglo-Saxons to do?

Wow, to get nominated for something like this when at first I thought about shuttering it early due to nerves! What a turnabout. Glad people are enjoying it. :) (As for what we're to do, I wish I knew myself...!)

A quick note to @Olden Weiss: it's probably time to pass this on. They've been on to pass on WritAAR of the Week recently, so we might just need a reminder. If not, we should probably open this for nomination.
