While most fighting was in Europe and the Mediterranean there where many incidents outside the map at this time, such as the Latin American Revolutions (which resulted from Spain getting puppet-ed by France, Portugal moving its government to Brazil, the War of 1812, and the Haitian Revolution. Can these be included as modifiers/ events which can provide income (colonies do) or give you headaches when you need to send troops?

The Latin American revolutions did not take place until after the Napoleanic Wars in the 1820's. Before that however, they were assured a great deal of autonomy, due to the rupture back at home.

I beg to differ. Many of the revolutionary movements in Latin America began during the Napoleonic wars, due to the Iberians being preoccupied in Europe.

In another game I played colonies were represented by trading posts around the edge of the map and you needed to put ships on them to get resources from them, something similar could potentially be done here?

I think the 'real' reason not to include the colonies is that they really did not have much of an impact on the war in Europe

I beg to differ, In just one instance you had the disastrous British invasion of the Rio de la Plata in 1806, this was a major combat effortand should be represented, in addition there was the Mauritius campaign in 1810 which led to the only French Naval victory of the war at the Battle of Grand Port. I'm sure members of the community can add further non-european battles and events from the period between 1805 an 1815

This man knows what he is talking about.

Wouldnt want it any other way.
The question remains tho, are events random or irrespective of events in Europe, or can we affect them by what we do?

Say, take over Persia and gain a land connection to India.. and being hostile to Britain ought to affect a change or two over there.
Similarily allowing the spaniards access, either on their own or by assistance, to their own fleet and ports... should have an impact on what is going on in south america.
Or Britain losing its naval dominance, and/or multiple ations trampling over the green and fair island, ought to have a few extra effects in the colonies, no longer able to support them while someone else can reign supreme on the seas. Just might see the entire empire crumble much like the spanish empire? ;)
Or perhaps a british event of "lets forcibly find deserters on foreign ships" and unsurprisingly.. you get starspangled "pirates" showing up that seek to sink/capture british ships.

The short answer to this is no. We are focussing on Europe. We felt that trying to capture every single counter factual for example you take the Western bit of Persia we have on the map. So do then we have the event were you push on through the rest of Persia, fight your way through Afghanistan then we give you choice of fightening your way on through Sind or Kashmir, then after depending on which choice you made you can battle onward through ether the Rajupt states or Sikh states and of the 10,000 soldiers you sent out 12 make it to the frontier of British India and the British don't give a monkeys. It would be absolute nightmare to try and capture ever single possibility and then we would simply not do it justice. So we have instead focussed on Europe to do the best work we can there.

But did those battles have a significant impact on the war in Europe?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't a great part of some countries (such as England, Spain, ...) income come from the colonies?
How will this be represented then (if not through events or a map?)

By boosting the income of the home country.

And there's the bonus that Britain get from free ports in Europe.
That's not the colonies I know, but some of the goods were traded there too.

That's not Britain, that's the naval dominant power. I was playing Britain and did not know this. Lost Gibraltar because I never sent a fleet down there to protect it from blockade and suddenly I was very very broke. It was a sad time. So as Britain the Penisular is very important to you.

Right. I was just assuming that Britain was the Naval Dominant Power :)

There was a decent amount of fighting outside of Europe, but it had little impact on the outcome of the war. The war was won and lost in Europe.
