We have already covered the topic of Bloodlines, and more specifically historical Bloodlines, in a past Dev Diary, yet marrying into a famous family is not the only way to gain a Bloodline in Holy Fury.

There are quite a few custom Bloodlines that you can found with your own ruler by several different means. Some can be gained through special actions, such as by building a Legend as a Warrior Lodge Hero, others can be unlocked by performing impressive feats, such as being an extraordinarily dedicated Viking raider or restoring Israel.

Finally, if your ruler has very high Prestige (5000 points or higher) and is Duke-tier or above, you will have access to the new Forge Bloodline ambition.

By picking this ambition you will be provided with several paths to create your own custom Bloodline, tailoring it to whichever kind of ruler you wish to be remembered as.

Each path will lead you to unlock a different bloodline, each coming in different variants (for example pursuing the Murder path will lead you to gain one of four different Murder-related Bloodlines). Additionally, if you pursue more than a single path at the same time, you have a chance of unlocking a hybridized Bloodline, with its own unique perks.

And finally, if you take too long to complete any of the initial paths, having the ambition will trigger a special event chain that will allow you to invest resources and select from yet another pool of potential bloodlines, whose pick will be determined by the choices that you make during the event chain itself.

Some of these Bloodlines grant a static bonus, decreasing the chance of vassals joining factions against you, increasing your plot power, or unlocking special buildings for your realms, others grant more dynamic perks, such as special events to facilitate murder or decisions to meddle in your relatives’ private affairs.

This is it for now, though there's still going to be some news coming today. Do not forget to tune in for our very special stream at 17:00 CEST (https://www.twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive).

Heh. Oh, Silfae. Sweet, pure, innocent Silfae.

Do you really think that will stop us?

All we have to do is take tanistry to switch between multiple family branches, forging bloodlines in each, then, once every living member of our dynasty has one, perform a massive series of internal marriages to merge them all together and create a race of UNSTOPPABLE GOD-EMPERORS!
And how do you merge bloodlines?

So people who reform the faith dont get bloodlines? Not even those who reform it in fairly difficult situations? For example Slavic in 1066?

You are going to get a bloodline as soon as you fulfill one of the conditions (or a combination of two), there is no "everything" bloodline.

So, it looks like it would be possible to time many conditions at once. In particular, the build church/town/castle, foreign wars, and execution ones seem entirely feasible to all complete at once.

In that case, how is the hybridization decided?

If I'm sure my son is not my son but I never find out that my wife cheated on me, he will receive the bloodline too? ok... stupid question lol I know that bloodlines have nothing to do with DNA but I think they don't deserve it xD

Even if the child is not yours the bloodline should pass on anyway. If it's not discovered, of course.

There are various hidden checks; in the event of multiple bloodlines being valid, the first one to fire will be the one you get.
@Silfae Will traits like Sayyid/Sayoshant Descendent still be in the game, or have bloodlines replaced those?
No change has been done to those traits.

I assume the bloodlines feature is easily moddable?

Also, is there a flag for the founder of a reformed religion, so that we could mod a bloodline for a founder?

But if multiple go off on the same day, what does the priority go to and which one will be the second condition considered for hybridization? Is it something like choosing the conditions that come first alphabetically in the code?

There are no bloodlines for reforming a pagan faith; it was considered, but discarded. Reformation gives already a considerable amount of perks and, as you say, unless one where to give just a bland generic bloodline for it, one would need to invest an absurd amount of time to create variants to apply on the various possible combinations of Natures/Doctrines/Leadership.
The idea I had for one last special thing to give for the reformer is the original manuscript for their reformed religion. That artifact would make a very flavorful bonus for reforming a religion. Say +0.5 monthly piety and +3 same religion opinion, only active while following the reformed religion.

Yes, they are very easy to mod, you could definitely add Bloodlines for the reformer if you wish to.

The wording gives me an idea for an achievement-
Blood and Iron: Have a character forge both a bloodline and a level 4 weapon.

Are there Bloodlines for particularly pious rulers? Say someone that represents that ideal ruler for that religion? How about something for particularly skilled and prolific duelists?
