We have already covered the topic of Bloodlines, and more specifically historical Bloodlines, in a past Dev Diary, yet marrying into a famous family is not the only way to gain a Bloodline in Holy Fury.

There are quite a few custom Bloodlines that you can found with your own ruler by several different means. Some can be gained through special actions, such as by building a Legend as a Warrior Lodge Hero, others can be unlocked by performing impressive feats, such as being an extraordinarily dedicated Viking raider or restoring Israel.

Finally, if your ruler has very high Prestige (5000 points or higher) and is Duke-tier or above, you will have access to the new Forge Bloodline ambition.

By picking this ambition you will be provided with several paths to create your own custom Bloodline, tailoring it to whichever kind of ruler you wish to be remembered as.

Each path will lead you to unlock a different bloodline, each coming in different variants (for example pursuing the Murder path will lead you to gain one of four different Murder-related Bloodlines). Additionally, if you pursue more than a single path at the same time, you have a chance of unlocking a hybridized Bloodline, with its own unique perks.

And finally, if you take too long to complete any of the initial paths, having the ambition will trigger a special event chain that will allow you to invest resources and select from yet another pool of potential bloodlines, whose pick will be determined by the choices that you make during the event chain itself.

Some of these Bloodlines grant a static bonus, decreasing the chance of vassals joining factions against you, increasing your plot power, or unlocking special buildings for your realms, others grant more dynamic perks, such as special events to facilitate murder or decisions to meddle in your relatives’ private affairs.

This is it for now, though there's still going to be some news coming today. Do not forget to tune in for our very special stream at 17:00 CEST (https://www.twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive).

Question for @Silfae : When it checks for forged bloodlines on a character, what does it look for? In other words, is it looking for a forged bloodline that the character can normally pass on to their heirs (so enatic on a woman, agnatic on a man)? Is it checking that the forged bloodline was created by your dynasty?

I assume that if I have tanistry active I can forge a new bloodline with every branch of my house and slowly bring them together via matrilineal marriages among my descendants. This might be especially funny if I follow the same course for all of them. +200% city tax? Thank you sir!

From what I'm getting, there are three types of bloodlines

-Historical Bloodlines, i.e. Charlemagne, Ragnar Lothbrok, etc.

-Forged Bloodlines, from this new ambition or special events.

-Special Bloodlines tied to great achievements or events, like founding Israel, sainthood, etc.

I'm guessing that if you have "a" bloodline, either from an ancestor or from a special event, you cannot forge one by ambition, and most events that lead to bloodlines are rare/no longer happen but that does not exclude you from getting a bloodline for remaking the Roman Empire or El Cid'ing for the Reconquista.

Personally, I would like the ability, after let's say 4 generations, to forge a new bloodline - which would replace your previous forged bloodline.

Finally, if your ruler has very high Prestige (5000 points or higher) and is Duke-tier or above, you will have access to the new Forge Bloodline ambition.

Is this ambition available to the AI? Because 5k Prestige is not a lot and will be regularly achieved by many AI rulers.
Are Bloodlines really supposed to be so common and widespread?
It also seems a fairly low mark to hit for the player. I understand wanting to make something available but if every single ruler in my dynasty could make a Bloodline, it kinda takes away from the idea of legendary feats making someones Dynasty so famous.

5Kis rather alot, usually only non pagan emperors archive 5K+ ,paganusually use prestige for troops and building upgrades, so few blood lines in every 50 years are not alot.

Bloodline feature makes my games more intresting now,im going to collect bloodlines and then destroy all bloodline dynastys.

Are prestige 5k YOUNG rulers really that common in your games (especially among the AI)?
Remember they need to preform the 30 of x (like 30 years of peace) after taking the ambition.

Ugh, maybe its just me, but why do the songs have to be on Spotify? Why does everything need to be a new thing that bugs for my e mail? Whats wrong with just putting the songs on Youtube?

Why do I have to be assaulted by a flood of instagrams, spotifies, tumblrs, twizzlers, swizlers, vibers, bibers and twitters.

5K is absolutely nothing. Even less so for pagans who can raid.
But even non-pagans will easily get that high. Even on Duke level you easily have 5k+ Prestige for each of your rulers unless you play hyper pacifist and basically never go to war.

I hope you don't mind but I wish to ask something then. Going by the above statements, is it then possible to first create a forged bloodline and then get a special bloodline (form israel, roman empire etc) for the same character?

Edit: Sorry for the question but I'm just wanting to truly understand the mechanics of the bloodlines here.

It is possible. The devs answered it already.
Can special bloodlines be gained even after founding a bloodline?

Eg: I'm aiming to restore Rome. I found a bloodline meanwhile via ambition. If my great grandkids manage to form Rome, would they get the new bloodline additionally? Or the 'slot' has been used?

It depends; in your specific case, they should still get the new Roman Bloodline, because we are talking about a very special event. They will not be able to create any bloodline related to the Forge Bloodline ambition.

Maybe so they earn money?

The check looks at any owned bloodlines that have the created_bloodline flag.
Historical bloodlines do not prevent rulers from forging a special bloodline.

Also, for the people who missed them, these were some example released on Twitter in the past few days:

So I guess "official CK 2 band" means "random people singing about the middle ages also please donate".

Great. Cant wait for 1-2 more years, where linking my Twitter account to CK 2 will give me acces to exclusive new Breton character portraits.

That would matter for those timelocked ones, but a ruler in his 40s is well able to manage any non-timelocked ones. And just looking at my last save, I see 3 rulers alive who are in their 40s and have 5k+ Prestige in 1254. And thats just those 'currently' alive when most major realms have already broken apart.
For the player having a 5k prestige young ruler is obviously childs play, but I won't pretend that matters much, self-defined limits and all that.
It just strikes me that 5k is a unusually low amount for a "very very high" Prestige requirement.

I suspect the number might have been picked because its the amount you get for the Kingdom of Jerusalem.
But certainly any character who manages to win a Crusade will have a lot more Prestige than that.
10k+ in my (obviously anecdotal) experience, is the usual amount for a successfull crusader king.
