Maybe there'll be some minerals.

... such as 150,000 Corundium at 100% accessibility.

Will we be harvesting the sorium, or is it too low a deposit to make it worth it?

Mines harvest everything impartially. All together.

So the best mining sites are the ones with a wide array of minerals.

... unless you need some SPECIFIC mineral, like Gallicite or Corundium.

That's automatic. A mine mines every mineral in the deposit simultaneously

Exploring beyond the Radiant, the ESNS Charles Darwin finds the new star system of Nu Sculptoris.

A Red Dwarf primary, with two Mars-like planets! No Moons, no asteroids, ten comets.

a binary pair of Dwarf stars with no planets and no asteroids.
No comets, huh.
Nu Sculptoris….two Mars-like planets! No Moons, no asteroids, ten comets.
10 comets.

We should name this branch of space “Ten Comets” in whatever language sounds coolest. :p

Not to be out-done, the ESNS Wagonlitz finds the new star system of Phi Librae, beyond the Black Hole.

Ten planets (two of them Mars-like) and 46 moons. No asteroids. Ten comets.

I've got the game set so that every star system generates at least ten comets.

That gives us somewhere to build a base.

The Black Hole is going to be a problem. No comets.

Thoguht fuel needed fuel harvesters, though.

Ti kometer.
Or if you want a single noun, as opposed to number noun, then it could be tikometsskuffelse (ten coment disappointment)

Sounds like a great system. Like, almost as good as Sol. How long is the travel time from Earth?

The Black Hole is going to be a problem. No comets.
Can't we just put up (a couple, given size) of naval bases? if it turns out to lead to lots of valuable systms it'd defintely be worth the investment ot set up a few naval bases.

A new plot twist!

When Nikolai II decided to switch from an aging scout-explorer character to a young research scientist, I gave him the new Scientist character as the grown-up son of the aged explorer, but I left the old character running... I just re-named him "Grandad Nikolai".

He's now 95 years old and in very poor health.

... and it doesn't look like he'll be getting much healthier. Or much older.

Those are Prix. In the newly-discovered Phi Librae star system.

So our narrative takes a new direction!

Now Nikolai can switch to a Prix-hunting character (the younger brother of his current Scientist character) and do the "Princess Bride" thing!

"My name is Nikolai II! You killed my father! Prepare to die!"

I love the "Will not listen to advice" character trait.

I wonder what the advice was?

"Try using a RADAR probe first"?

I wonder... can he possibly escape?

He's cloaked, but unfortunately they are faster.

Let's try going dark and evading.

Grandad Nikolai (the sly old codger) has turned off both of the active sensors and also the IFF transponder. Going dark.

He alters course radically, toward a distant comet... no point in leading the Prix directly to the jump point out.

Let's see if we can shake them off, first.

I think we've lost them!

Each time they turn on their active RADAR, they're further away than before instead of closer, despite them being faster than us.

Currently more than 90 million km away. The encounter took place at 50 m-km.

They're going the wrong way!

Awesome. That cloak was a great investment.
Now what, though. Send in the spies?

He's carrying a few probes.

Remember, though, that this is an obsolescent scout ship.

The good ones are under construction.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that we've escaped.

Grandad Nikolai can't even detect their RADAR emissions anymore.

We have three probes.

There are two Mars-like planets that are natural targets for a RADAR probe, and eight other planets including one with 27 moons.

Go for those three targets?
