Yes indeed.

... and seven more Freighters are wrecked.

Only one left in that stack. So the third salvo should be 20 missiles.

Total now 565 missiles expended, with another 20 on the way.

... and here's the last 20 missiles. Total now 585.

The last salvo of 20 missiles takes down the last of the 15 Freighters.

Red 2 has destroyed all of the victims immediately at hand.

They are about one billion km from the intended ambush site.

Awesome! Can we find any more useful civies in the area?!

There's a stack of nine or ten near Red 3, but Red 2 should head straight for the jump point instead.

We hope.

These freighters were all empty too, weren't they? Or do I have that wrong and did we lose some infrastructure or spaceport components or something as well?

If I'm not mistaken that only leaves about 3 full salvos in their magazines. And probably not even full ones. Three full spreads is 420 missiles.
Still painful if fired at the wrong targets, but still.

Empty.

The civvie Freighters near Red 3 are carrying Infrastructure.

Maybe we can persuade him to fire them at a fleet sitting on the jump point.

Three full salvos is 420 missiles. 585 + 420 is 1005 missiles. I don't think they even have that still.
So yeah, that would absolutely be helpful.

The funny thing is, I kind of expected them to start shooting freighters much, much earlier in this fight. Better now than never, I say.
They seem to be completely ignoring the civilian mining and shipping companies though - these were *our* freighters.

I have a theory:

The Modrons only started attacking our commercial vessels AFTER our military force had jumped through to the Lernea star system, to rendezvous.

Perhaps they feel that they have essentially conquered the Harmony star system, except for some mopping up?

Possibly. But in that case they are in for a bit of a shock.

Keep in mind the 585 was between red 2 and 3.

Any idea why they might be doing that?

Could they actually see our fleet before it jumped, though?

True. But I only counted about 920 missiles for Red 3. And some of the ships in Red 2 don't have the range to do 200 million mile salvos, and those still count towards those totals.

Any idea why they might be doing that?

I'm guessing the transponders of the freighters do relay what group owns the ship. Obviously freighters working for the government are more valuable targets than civilian shipping.

They at the very least saw the part of the fleet that was at the Harmony anchorage..

We were planning to scrap the generals before this all blew up, so should we send one in to 200 million kms if we think they are out of missiles just to check?

I'd prefer to first see if they'll follow us toward the jump point, and then see if they'll shoot at a fleet that's positioned on a jump point.

That should be Plan A.
