Despotate? It's an empire. Despotate isn't a real title, or at least wasn't anything conferred to land ownership in any way. At least, not by any Greek state.

The Chaghatai Ulus breaks apart in... 2 years from the start date, with these internal tribal divisions which were already holding land.
The various proposed break-aparts of the Golden Horde in 1337 are reflective of internal subdivisions which were governed by appointment. Much like Transylvania, that means not breaking them off into separate tags.

schools are in no way enough to represent the divisions in Islam. Also prettys sure those schools usually represent schools of jurispredence not sects. By that logic EU5 should have a single protestant faith and use schools to represent Anabaptists, Wycliffians, Anglicans, etc.

They would be using the title "Malik" if they were (Persian) governors of the Ilkhanate. I don't know whether or not any of the post-Ilkhan governors aside from the Kartids tried to elevate themselves to Sultan (and who were thoroughly put down in their attempt to do so by some number of Chaghatai tribes, since doing so would be a more formal break from Ilkhan suzerainty however symbolic) around this time. The Muzaffarids did declare themselves Caliph, but later on.
If we wanted to be generalizing, I'd say the semi-nomadic non-Persian governors of the Ilkhanate would be amirs, and the sedentary Persian governors maliks. In the context of the Ilkhanate, amirs were seen to be "above" maliks.
This is why I think the rank system in the game is stupid, by the way.

My only complaint with the map (aside from culture; what, no Arab population in Iraq?) is that Anatolia didn't get a light touch to clean up the Artuqids.
As mentioned before, more of their west should go to the Doger, their south to the Sutayids, and their east to Bohtan. They should be left with Mardin and Dunaysir and nothing more.

Zoroastrians, Yazidis and Tengris are really difficult to tell apart, so maybe the Zoroastrians should have the same yellowish colour they have in EU4 and have Tengri be a lighter blue
