It's not Rome 2, this clue is clearly saying that. Feel free to quote me on this if I'm wrong.

It would be like saying, there will be no Matriarchal Engagements, would make it clear it wasn't CK3, a mechanic exclusive to that game series not being in the game, is confirmation it's not that game.

The idea of it being a Rome 2 but not called Rome 2, so everything about Rome but not, makes no sense, why would they abandon their brand.

Probably because EU:Rome has a bit of a mixed reception and Mechanics could be revamped massively so that basically no connection to the old Rome games exists.

The same reason why they would love to change the name of Crusader Kings so people would not complain too much when they add India or China to the game or focus it on something else than Rome. It is too late for CK franchise but not for Rome. Also if the game is about an ancient or classical era then the Rome may simply not be the focus of the game but only one of the things that may happen.

Greek Grand Strategy is not to be.

Of course, "there will be no badboy", in your reasoning, would have been a clear hint that EU4 was not going to be EU4.

If it's Classical, then the map (specifically around the Aegean) needs a massive improvement and to be about 100x larger than any historical grand strategy ever done before.. In the Peloponnesian plateau alone there are eight "regions". Even more in Central and Northern Greece.

Year 37: Caligula Emperor of Rome
The same Caligula wanted to appoint his horse as Consul of Rome, horse whose original name was Porcellus (literally small pig). Another famous consul of Rome was Caesar, who died stabbed by his son Brutus.

Haha, love the teaser - it's a proper teaser too, it could mean "it will be Rome (presumably by another name, which I don't think would be a bad thing - if there's a Rome game, it should have its own discrete brand, rather than EU:Rome), but there will be no stabbed pigs" or it could mean "it won't be Rome or anything like it". Looking forward to it, whatever it is (well, assuming it's not going to be a GSG take on Barbie Horse Adventures, but pretty confident we're safe there) :).

Just to say, you can make 3 and 7 fit any period you want to. Let me start a list, of the years, since 1CE (same applies backwards, just put BCE, simple) that contain not only the number 3 but also the number 7.

37CE - 73CE - 137CE - 173CE - 237CE - 273CE - 307CE - 337CE - 370-379CE - 437 - 473.

Every half century is represented in someway or other. People using it as evidence for a pet theory based on the numbers in a year, are stretching.

It's not a sequel, it's a new IP, so it's not ROME2, they have never abandoned an IP name, so it's very unlikely to be SAMEASROME1.

The point about the IP is pretty moot - EU:R was an EU spinoff, so an Iron Age game standing on its feet would be a new IP. This said, I doubt that's it.
