"Right, Olivia, you have the bill? Please let the nice lady see what liberty and freedom cost this season, and be sure to give her the true believer discount. And, Lady Arano? If you can find us a Warhammer? We'll get you your throne back."

20 years you say? I realised there hasnt been a mechwarrior game in sometime but not THAT long wow.
20 Years since Mechcommander 2

"Turn based". Which goes all the way back to "Crescent Hawk's Inception/Revenge".

Don't worry, BattleTech does that.

Oh dear, this doesn't bode well for playing this game either then

Solar sails deployed, charging...

Battletech, not mechwarrior. Yes same universe, but there are hijinx, technical and legal distinctions for assorted complicated reasons.

Also turned based, and tactical, which can't be said of the old joystick games.

Sure it does. Just remember Lord Commander Garrilac's lessons - if you win it's because you're a tactical genius and if you lose it's because dirty cheating Clanners. Whatever those are.

Well... I'm exited about the game, but the 'Story Trailer' is a big disappointment.

Almost all Battletech and Mechcommander game have a grade AAA intro / trailer (at least at their time).
This trailer is a no-no. Nor fully animated comic-style (like as started), nor fully 3D, nor have the 'Awesome' feeling.

I hope the best for the game tho...

You heard the man, not Awesome enough, it needs more zorch.

Or my "favourite", from beta: What? I didn't click twice! Crap, now I'm facing away from the enemy... Great, just great.

All is forgiven though, I'm sure my clumsy fingers won't be what drives my mercenary company to the brink of ruin.

(It'll be Kiva)

;)

If you find yourself in a fair fight, you screwed up.

IDK, I'm digging the art style myself. I am curious to see it in it's entirety (as I am sure this is bits and pieces cut together for a trailer).

Also, In all fairness, those earlier titles were produced by AAA studios such as Activision, Microsoft and Microprose. They had AAA budgets and resources as well. Harebrained Schemes is a small studio with a modest budget.

I think the art style they achieved is rather impressive and beautiful myself, and also rather impressive given that they aren't a big studio.

Is there any way we can get some of those cutscenes as desktops?

Looks like player character Gecko is helping Mastiff bodyguard Lady Arano, likely our training mission.
