By the time we are through with putting Salt here and there, Lisboa will be the only remaining province producing Fish.
It's a small change but it would finally make Portugal in eu4 a bit more defensive. I support this.
And also, everyone should calm their horses because it's almost certain that even if they do eventually change it to blue, it's almost certain it's not going be on tomorrow's DD, so you are only hyping for dissapointment.

Best case scenario would be a hotfix a couple of weeks later.

Don't make a scene about it if they don't.
Trust me, even tho we got support from the devs saying they like it they gave a reason of why they aren't doing it. So I still have 0 hopes for blue Portugal. I have been proven wrong before, vicky 3 devs actually did it, but it was a new game and Portugal can change to a nice green too. But Eu4 is 10 years old, sure last dev diary prussia did change colors but prussia isn't present on the 1444 map.

But hey, people can dream! A somewhat realistic dream/expectation, is for Portugal to get some unique buff for marines only by the mission tree. But why set the bar so low? I have dreams that portugal will get a special unit in tomorrow dev diary! And much more...

You may have noticed that we have been taking a look at this thread, so please feel free to give us early feedback for Portugal, as it will be covered in a different DD in a few weeks. ;)

Is that permission for us to go off topic and brain storm ideas for Portugal, or a request? ;)

Maybe we should really ask moderators to close it and let it pass into the golden annals of history? :p
We can create a different one with a salty list of Salt provinces!
But first, a word from @Sete is in order...

Yeah we should probably create a new thread to brainstorm ideas.

Alright, here is my feedback concerning Portuguese missions:

Starting with the Exploration/Colonial Path:
What I did here consists in the following goals:
-The first 5 missions until Push to India are basically the same, but also give the historical explorers responsible for fulfilling the next mission.
-The Colonize the Caribbean mission was ahistorical, so it was replaced with an historical Portuguese colonial-related economic policy that was very profitable in the late 15th century.
-I renamed the Cape of Good hope to "Cape of Tormentas" as it was the name of the cape before it was overcome. The reward however is called Good Hope as it became known afterwards, and the Colonial range aims to allow Portugal to reach India before 1500, as they historically did, but is very hard to do right now.
-After reaching India i gave Portugal a powerful but short lived military buff to allow them to achieve their historical 16th century conquests in the Indian Ocean, which is something extremely hard to achieve as it is.
-At the end of the Indian branch, i added one mission for a war with the Ottomans. The reward is a powerful, but short lived naval and land buff that will help Portugal deal with the Ottoman behemoth on their own backyard.
-At the end of the Indonesian branch, i added one mission for a war with the Dutch. The reward is not as powerful, as the Netherlands are nowhere as powerful as the Ottomans.
-The Macau and Nagasaki missions are now easier to achieve without having to no-CB conquer the provinces.

Now to the European path
This path is probably the least inspired path of the Portuguese tree.
The English Alliance is just filler, you are already their friend and it only makes you "more friender" it's pointless and most people dump the English Alliance anyway for a more useful ally such as France.
Instead, i made it so that this mission actually requires you to be a proper ally and fight alongside the British. And as a result you get a useful modifier that incentivises keeping the alliance with Britain.

Launch a Flagship is basically a generic mission made to showcase the new flagship feature of GC.
I scrapped it out and replaced it with the mission to intervene in Castile.
However, intervene in Castile now requires you to go to war with Castile/Spain, the modifier is a strong, but short lived military buff, basically there to help you out during that said war with Castile. This mission requires you to abandon the quintessential Portuguese strategy of allying Spain and use them to fight your own wars and be safe for the rest of the game, so I think it's fair the rewards are powerful, since it requires you to give up on your strongest advantage. This mission is themed on the Restoration War of 1640-68 but it could also represent the Castilian and Portuguese Sucession Wars of 1475-79 and 1580-83 respectively.

The Third Mission follows the theme of "Short-lived military bonuses during a war against a much stronger opponent" which in this case is France.
It makes sense to be unlocked by the English Alliance and the War with Spain, as a war with France would most likely arise due to Portugal siding with Britain and France is natural next enemy after dealing with Spain. The Mission is based on the Fantastic War of 1763-63 but it could also be based on the wars of the Spanish Succession of 1701-1714 or the Peninsular War.

The Final Mission is renamed from Lusitanian Empire to Lusitanian Spirit because Portugal never created or even flirted with the idea of a "Lusitanian Empire", it wouldn't even make much sense since Lusitania was even smaller than Portugal and Portugal (Port of Callaecia) is literally the successor of Gallaecia NOT Lusitania.
However, one could argue that the Portuguese do have a "Lusitanian Spirit", described often as "Refusing to be allowed to be governed by anyone, not even by themselves" and the Late Modern Portuguese military actions of being very cappable at waging defensive guerrilha warfare does mirror the Lusitanians very well, hence the bonus would give Portugal a modifier that doesn't exist in the game yet, but should be easy to implement.
This is the only permanent bonus I am giving Portugal, and it's exclusively a defensive one, and in my opinion extremely fitting and justified.

For the domestic/economic branch, i'd simply switch the Wine monopolies from first to last.
There are certainly better ways to represent the Portuguese domestic/economic policies, but economy was always Portugal's weakest point, so i'm not very concerned with this.

I don't expect the developers to actually implement all of these changes, but at least i hope they read my proposals, understand where I am trying to get at, and rework the missions to achieve something relatively similar.

Next up, i'm addressing the downfall of the Portuguese Empire, with a reworked and far more punishing Lisbon Earthquake event-chain.

Ok, so since some people were playing with the thought of changing France's map color, I just want to point out that I demand that the Big Blue Blob achievement keeps its abbreviation.

That doesn't mean the color needs to stay blue, but I want something starting with B, for example black, brown or beige.

While I would technically accept it by the standards of the BBB argument, I want to make clear that I do not recommend to use the color burgundy for France's map color, though.

I like it. Just a small correction. Portugal discovered Barbados, some say they might have had a short lived settlement there, so having that mission there is not that ahistorical.

Yeah, there is also reasonable argument to say the Bruma mission has an historical basis to it.
I had to sacrifice some missions to add the new ones, so i sacrificed the least historical or least impactful (even taking Barbados at face value, 1 province isn't enough for the mission, might as well make it Newfoundland as well)
