Greetings from a fellow betatester :p

Models.csv is missing altogether.
Bulgarian leaders file is missing too.
There are lots of leaders and ministers pictures that are included in the zip, but are mentioned as no_pic_available in the relevant CSVs.

Found the causes for all mismatches when starting the scenario. (the four I got before the A-H boom, that is)

In heavy aircraft tech, two techs with id 9805 (Parasite Aircraft Hangar and Advanced Airship Bomb) Changing the second one to 9806 should remove the first mismatch.

TGW\db\events\france.txt: Two events numbered 20416. Renumbering one to 20421 should fix it.

germany.txt + 1915war.txt: events numbered 21460 and 21461 in both these files. Do a find/replace of 21460 and 21461 in 1915war.txt. Replace with 21470 and 21471.

I sorted the event clashes out today, and have fixed them. :) Looks like we were both on the ball in that respect. Presumably the technology ID clash is the first 'database mismatch', with the events being checked when the loading bar gets about 75% of the way across.

maybe starting the war with Sanusia France gets a big dissent hit

Exactly!

By opening up the The Great War (1914-1924).eug file and locating this:

Code:
war = {
        id = { type = 4713 id = 4 }
        attackers = {
            id = { type = 4713 id = 5 }
            participant = { U02 }
        }
        defenders = {
            id = { type = 4713 id = 6 }
            participant = { ITA }
        }
    }

You will notice that U02 - Sanusia are the 'attackers'. Therefore, France (and therefore Russia) declares war on Italy, being as it is, a fellow democracy.

By changing it to this....

Code:
war = {
        id = { type = 4713 id = 4 }
        attackers = {
            id = { type = 4713 id = 5 }
            participant = { ITA }
        }
        defenders = {
            id = { type = 4713 id = 6 }
            participant = { U02 }
        }
    }

Italy becomes the aggressor, and France doesn't feel obliged to enter the conflict.

8 May 1915 midnight the game freeze

Twenty-one demand events. To fix them, the lines saying 'offset = 0' in both the Chinese and Japanese event files need to be changed to 'offset = 1'.

maizenkor said:
Russia send some exp force to France in Jan/Feb 14.

Presumably because of the Entente's intervention in the Italo-Sanussi war. In previous test versions, this war drags on until the end, at which point Russia had sent neary 250 divisions to Tunisia. :wacko:

Most of the ministers dont show, for A-H (no generals) or Sweden

Johan did do (or was doing) a Swedish minister file. In any case, it did not make it into the download - the Swedish minister file in this first version is from the Second World War. So is the Spanish leader file.

I noticed that too - luckily you posted your work, so there's nothing to worry about. Better still, send me a fresh copy of your list and we'll put them in the next download.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's a few personal observations:
It is impossible to save a game without creating a 'save games' folder.
The mod crashes when a saved game is loaded with a different country.
Russia leaves the Entente often - the solution is to create an event that forces them back in just as they leave.
Fortification infantry sprite turns into a motorised infantry sprite when moving. Additionally, the picture accompanying the fortress infantry on the right hand side is still that of motorised infantry.
Scrolling down on the heavier than air tech list causes the mod to crash
India, Egypt and Ireland are not correctly written into the revolt file.
Istanbul province still needs a beach.
Propaganda posters need to be included.
Austria-Hungary should be coloured brown; Serbia should be orange.
The main menu screen has got a thick white line running down the right hand side (again)
Jebel Shammar is a puppet of Nejd when it shouldn't be
Oman should be a puppet of Great Britain
Territories 554 and 543 must have fort rating 3; Territories 555 and 542 must have fort rating 2
Ottoman claims to Hejaz and Nejd must be removed. Russian claims to Japanese territory should also be removed.
Allenby and TGW team,
Do you recommend, at this point, waiting for the next download? Do you have an ETA?
Thanks!
It is my personal opinion that another version should be released with as many errors corrected as possible, within days - I hope the rest of the team agrees with me. Whether you wait or not, is your personal choice. :)
I would like this next version to have the work that was missed out to be included - a number of Mexican and American events for example, didn't make it, not to mention generic names, propaganda posters, some unit names and models as well.
Thanks,
The map, graphics and sprites are fantastic- it's obvious a lot of time went into development. I will continue to moniter the forum and download the next version upon arrival.
At that point I will rigorously and joyfully playtest!
Cheers
Yes, that's it.
The reports of missing A-H leaders and ministers should come from people using mod-dir. The installation instructions (and the mod pack) don't include a mention that you should have dummy files with the same names as all those in the <mod-dir>\db\(leaders|ministers) dir. (also, all the names in <hoi>\db\(leaders|ministers) seem to be required in the mod, to avoid massive amounts of DB mismatches.
Fortification infantry sprite turns into a motorised infantry sprite when moving. Additionally, the picture accompanying the fortress infantry on the right hand side is still that of motorised infantry.
WAD. (I got to say it!! :)) Stephen left it like that because nobody could figure out how a fortress looks when moving. :)
Allenby, will resend all I have to your e-mail :)
What's the status of the models.csv ? Is there anyone else besides me working on it?
Other things that I believe are missing:
All that work on Manpower and IC's that I compiled, I don't see them anywhere. (Similiar situation as the VP's.)
While we are removing claims, Chinese claims to Mongolia/Tibet/Nepal need to be removed. I am unsure of the claims against Japan.
As for adding claims: Italy should have a claim on Corsica. Greece on Cyprus (also perhaps on Greek speaking areas of the Ottoman Empire?). Perhaps Jebel Shammar should have claims on Nejd, like Nejd has on them.
I tried out China (just to see its setup), some thoughts:
Why is there a lone French division camping out in Northern China? (a province or two NE of the German colony in China)
Where are all the Chinese units? Surely they had an OOB.
Also there are a few Chinese ministers that start out as Blue Shadow, but there are options for ministers with names/abilities. Perhaps we should choose one of those so an unnecessary dissent increase for a player/AI to get one of the good ministers.
Also a bunch of tech descriptions are missing, that I am sure were completed. Such as the armored field.
No one is working on the models apart from you....
Now's your chance to shine, Dimitar! Seize the opportunity! ;)
They shall definately have to be put in this time...
I agree to all of those apart from the Arabian ones - I fear that Nejd may claim the Shammar or vice versa, and that either would accept. I'd like to add that Hejaz should have a claim to Syria.
Shadow Knight said:
Presumably to represent their presence in Tientsin - the Italians also had a legation there, however....as did several other countries....
Shadow Knight said:
Yes - it should be around here somewhere.
That's a bit odd - the scripted list has every position filled up.
Yet more completed work that didn't get into the final version, somehow.
As maizenkor said earlier, the game freezes at midnight 8th May 1915. There is nothing that can be done to force it to continue.
Open up the Chinese and Japanese event files and change anything that says 'offset = 0' to 'offset = 1' :)
By far, the biggest problem is the lack of VP points.
It leads to (I believe) the Luxembourg, French, and Belgian defeat events, which lead to Germany owning a huge portion of Africa and the Pacific, and France's already weak economy (due to no supplies, oil, steel, rubber, coal at start) to be utterly destroyed by the war payments.
Also, The Entente + British always declare war on Revolutionary Mexico due to the fact that it is the aggressor in the war with Mexico ( a democracy).
The French, Belgian and Luxembourgeoise defeat events were triggered by France's high dissent due to its declaration of war on Sanusia. I have fixed this by increasing the dissent threshold and placing a condition in the French event in particular that ensures that the event only triggers if it is at war with Germany.
By making Mexico the aggressor in their war against the revolutionaries, it should ensure that Britain and France do not intervene. :)
problems
Guys,
I appreciate everything you are trying to do, but I am having a lot of problems with the mod.
1. Database errors - as reported by everyone else priority 2 maybe higher thay could be causing all the other problems.
2. Playing as Turkey cant save the game using default save title, if I press retry program crashes to desktop. - priority 1
3. Playing Italy, I managed to save a game by ignoring the default save title and pressed [..]this allowed me to select Great War 1914 - 1924, when I tried to reload the program crashes to desk top - Priority 1
4. When you try to restart campagin after a crash 3, you can only play the country you last saved with - priority 1
Bug 4 means I am going to stop all play testing until the next release. good luck, its always darkest before the dawn :)
1) freezes, offset = 0
I launched a search in files for others "offset = 0" lines and found "db\events\kuomintang.txt" has 3, for events 81004, 81005 and 81006
This may cause other freezes I presume.
2) Russia leaving Entente.
I also noticed Russia as Allenby said Russia tends leave the Entente. Maybe this is due to its alignement (it's aligned with the Alliance(fascim) not the Entente) and the AI decides to leave the alliance because of that.
Indeed :)
Almost certainly - an event should sort this out: triggering when Russia and France aren't aligned with the result that Russia joins the Entente. If this is made 'persistent', will this enable it to work again if Russia chooses to leave the Entente again after that point?
Update 2.
It is posssible to save if you create a savegame folder below scenarios in the TGW folder. Unfortunatley if you save in a game you can't reload without crashing to the desktop. Although you can reload from the save game by relaunching the application.
If you click on [..] during a save game and pick the greatwar 1914 -1924, you seem to overwrite part of the campaign configuration up which causes bug 4 reported in my previous thread. I removed this problem be reloading the TGW folder from the 1.00B Zip file.
It seems you got some work to do. Can we expect a 1.01b soon (hopefully with these stability issues fixed)?
Update 3.
It is possible that the problems I am discovering are due to the fact I am using a clean "un-moded" of 1.05, rather than a virgin "unused version". You need to be very specific about this when issuing patching/implementation instructions, there is no concept so simple that it cant be misinterpreted :) .
