We really should simplify the install process. Create a zip file that drops everything where it belongs, maybe even including an already patched EXE. Reducing the instructions to "unzip into your HOI dir" would probably help a lot in the bloody mess we got ourselves in.

As for fixes, I only tracked down the duplicate ids in the tech and some events and created all the dummy files required for the leaders to show up. (And deleted the stuff Johan gave Germany in his tests)

Edit : where's 1.01b? Is it on the page? It still reads 1.00b

Fair enough.

Let's do this just like before, but instead of piling it all on Stephen, you can pile it all on me. Hopefully this should be easier for me than it was for him (less to do, you know?).

Are we going back to the ModDir or not ModDir debate? :)

At this point an installer would be great; it would hopefully eliminate the possibility of user error and cut down the number of bugs and mismatches.

Well, regardless of using mod-dir or not, the install instructions will be "unzip into your HOI dir", because we always need to drop certain stuff (like the dummy files) into the HOI root directory. :p

But I find mod-dir to be much better.

Oh, and thanks for the link.

Boy that Johan and Stephen, trying to take all the credit...just who do they think they are? :)

mod-dir seems the best way to go in my humble opinion.

I agree, mod-dir will a) increase our audience, and b) make it easier to install.

A self-installer would be nice at some point, as well.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the great work. My friends and I have been eagerly awaiting this mod. I don't have much expertise with code for games but I am very proud of the dedication your TGW group has shown. There are bugs, but I am confident they'll get nailed out. Keep it up!

I would also like to extend my welcome, and tell your friends to stop by also. Although one request, if you could use standard white text please. The red text makes it difficult to read, a bit painful on the eyes.

Steele, would it be possible (if you think it is necessary) for you or perhaps Allenby to make a thread with known bugs, and whether they have been corrected or not. It seems like we get a few repeats and it might help if we had a thread that had a list of bugs easy to find.

Excellent, and I added a link to it in the Metathread. You might want to get SykoNurse to sticky it (the only bug thread that should be stickied, with a note that only you can post in there, since your taking up the cause of compliling it.)

I did notice the 'can't scroll in the Heavier-than-air tech field', I did not encounter this problem, but for some reason the scroll seems to be reversed for me. If I want to scroll down a page I must go up (like the reversed controls for a plane), and vice versa. But it is not restricted to just the HLA tech field, it is for all scrolling. Most perplexing.

Another one found i cant save i fixed it by puting savegame file to there too and then i saved and that worked ,but i cant load them it crashs . OU SHIT !

I can confirm this for sure- several friends of mine are waiting for a CORE style installer before they attempt to try it>anyone below a moderate level PC user should not with the current install method to minimize the chance of error

However I am a guinea pig and WWI diehard- I will continue to try

Several people have volunteered to make one, so when we reach something a little less buggy. We should contact these people and see what we can get for free.

when I start the scenario, I get a load of error messages. Picking Ignore will let the game start though.

A lot of them mentioned a USA file.

Also, do you guys need any help writing tech descriptions ? Im fairly knowledgeable in ww1 stuff, and have gamed WW1 with miniatures lots.

There is a link to 1.01b in the Metathread.

Those are probably ID conflicts, and they have been mentioned in the general bugs thread, which if SykoNurse would be so kind to move everyone's but Steele's posts to.

As for tech description, I believe we have tech descriptions for all the tech, sadly some for an unknown reason were not included in our first release. You can go to the tech thread for a listing of most of them, but once all the techs are in the beta you are more than welcome to suggest new descriptions. God knows how much Steele and I had to BS some of the descriptions.

Now for all those coming to post in here after my post. Please use the regular bugs in v1.00b thread. This thread is meant to inform team members what bugs exist, which ones have been corrected or need to be corrected. Thanks.
