Have you patched your Doomsday to 1.2? Fixed it for me...

No, I've forgotten, It was on 1.1

Thank you, it work.

game speed

I`ve problems with game speed like many poples here.
Vanilla HOI2 an HSR are working normal, bu CORE is very. very slow.
I`m afraid what will happend during war.

I'm experiencing the slowness of others. Does anyone else need a tech tree breakdown? I can't figure out how to research interwar Nav's. There are no requirements on the Aircraft sceen, and I can't think of what on other sceens would allow it.

Is there just me or the game runs very, very, very slowly! And this is in 1936! I dont want to think how it will run went the war start! My PC is very good and I run the game pretty sweet, atleast vannila and HSR... but CORE  Today I decided to give the mod e first try ever, but I'am very "angry" with the running speed! Why is that?

Im having the same problems as you, its basically unplayable. The game is extremely choppy, my mouse jumps all over the screen, I cant click on anything. Perhaps this is a sign that I need to finish studying for my math midterm tomorrow instead of playing HoI2...

I have a feeling this is my fault, because the only other time I tried CORE was the initial .10 release which was a disaster, to put it mildly, but apparently the other releases that I didn't play were fairly stable. I seem to be the only common denominator

I dont mean to sound stupid or anything, but what is this mod?

Could some1 please explain to me this mod.

Also about your slow down issue, i got this form the TRP mod site and it may also work for u guys.
"One of the things that is very important in Doomsda/HoI 2 is performance. How do you get the game to run faster and smoother. The solution is pretty simple.

If you are not in love with sprites and can live with using counters all you have to do is rename the folder that has all the sprites in it. Since they do not get loaded into memory HoI 2/Doomsday actually runs almost twice as fast.

gfx\map\units

rename the units folder to something like units_OLD

THen restart HoI 2/Doomsday and you will get an error saying "No Sprites Loaded"

Click the "Ignore" button

THe game will load much faster and run almost twice as fast. Just play with counters. This is very important to run TRP because of how many events we have it takes a huge tole on the game."

Enjoy!

I cant explain what this mod is all about, because I start playing it just few hours ago! I just can tell you it adds very many new things to the game. Install it at explore! Thats what I am dong right now!

And thanks for the slow down advise, it helped! But its only a temporary solution, I hope developers of the mod will do something about this problem of ours!

There should be the odd post or two about CORE philosophy... You could change the filter settings in the forum. ;)

About the slowdown, I have to say that I really have no clue about the regular game speed of DD, as I haven't played it even once. The game speed in CORE used to be horrendously slow, but after the fourth beta is acceptable (in my opinion at least). Part of the problem at any rate is the naval build event chain, which in turn had to be added as DD did not allow partial builds (at reduced costs) into the naval buildup.

Thanks alot guys. i guess i will try it now.

Also, im about to shoot myself in the foot here seeing iw as the 1 who sugested the fix for the slowdown, but what exactly are the "sprites"?

Hi,

Re: game speed exactly how slow is it running? Saying the game is too slow doesn't really tell me much. On my 2 year old laptop I get what I consider to be good performance. Starting in 1936 and using counters It takes roughly 1 1/2 minutes to play January 1936. This includes clicking on about 5-6 events so I'd say the game runs at about 2 seconds per day. One other thing to check is the Game Speed setting. I'm pretty sure installing CORE resets this value to Below Normal, which is painfully slow. We do see some chopiness in game speed. This seems to be most apparant in early 1936, but it tends to improve as the game progresses.

mm

On my computer it takes (using Albania as test country) 48 seconds to go through january -36 on highest speed in vanilla and in CORE it takes 1 min 15 seconds. So it moves a bit slower but it's not that much slower, at least not for me.

*many* thanks to the CORE team for releasing v.0.25
& on behalf of mac users (of which i am one) an extra tip of the hat as well for the simultaneous release of a mac-compatable .zip ... you guys are the best

i haven't noticed any CTDs or slow-downs running it so far on mac, which is good news.

i have noticed one strange thing though: for countries that have convoys, there seems to be a bug w/ the escorts? Germany, for ex., lists "-2147483648 escorts" - in fact, this same negative number shows up as well for UK and Japan. The # of transports seems fine: 2075 transports for Ger., 6594 for UK, 1989 for Japan. But all three countries are listing this minus 2 billion-odd escorts.

Trouble with .25

Hello,

I wonder if anyone may have some advice.

I have installed a clean Doomsday and installed the latest patch. However, for some reason at the very start, I have infantry labeled 1951 and all naval ship types though neither tech tree indicates these units should be available. I mean, it'd be nice to start out with a Nuclear Navy, but something is obviously wrong here.

I have reinstalled several times from a clean slate with the same result.

Please help if you can, I waited a LONG time for CORE.

Hmm well I installed it, first impressions:

How bloody unclear and overly complicated is the tech tree? I cant for the life of work me out in any of the trees what is required for what and what flows into what...Some of the screens are far too crammed making it impossible to see the tech paths. Especially for someone with bad eyesight!

Whats with the new unit icons? I hate them, I want my little drawings back not those NATO style counter things. Also the ships look stupid now, the silhouette icon is now far too small, I cant tell at a glance what each ship is. And why with every other lot of icons changed were the planes left the same when they were the ones in most need of change?

I am as before not convinced about this mods philiosphy to the game, but my MP group wants to use it so here I am...

First off thanks to the CORE guys for getting this out. Good Job guys :)

Secondly, this whacky AI DoW thing doesn't seem too rare. I'm playing a game as Japan and have gotten into October 1936. The 4 times that I have loaded this game eventually the AI goes bonkers and things start happening like every Third World Nation around starts to DoW Nationalist Spain.

Your post makes me sad.
Can't you express yourself in some other way?

What else is there to say? I like nothing... Techs are now overly complicated, ugly looking unit icons and the map colours ugghh.

Also 2 things I noticd already, there is no picture for the 1936 CL tech nor for the Kurt Student tech team.

And the ai is insane, there is some sort of bug in their belligerence dow check or somesuch, because as soon as a country incurs the slightest badboy the ai dows. And it happens 9/10 not rarely like some have posted.

I know I'm sounding overly negative but the guys behind it have obviously worked really really hard its just that I agree with very little they've done...

As in slow, its unplayably slow. IE one day takes about 1 real-time minute, my mouse jumps all over the screen and its impossible to click on anything. IF the game is paused, the lag goes away.

Id say its about 30x slower than vanilla, possibly more, where a whole month might only take 1-2 minutes of real time.

My specs:

P4 3.2 Ghz (its performance rated at 4.7 ghz according to systemrequirementslab.com, I have no idea how its rated that high...)
2 Gigs of RAM
Radeon 9800 XT 256 mb

Ive got a fairly top of the line PC other than the graphics card (but Im not shelling out $500 for only a marginal improvement at best).

edit: I am using counters, and I tried deleting the sprite folder, which improved performance slightly, but still not to a playable level.

I'm not having any slowdowns as the US through April of '42.

That said, my navy is getting its ass severely beaten by the Japanese. They declared war in Feb '41, and since then I've lost 10 carriers, 8 battleships and probably a good 30 or so other ships. I'm not exaggerating. Is there something odd going on or am I just unused to to CORE combat system? I'm being very badly beaten and I'm getting kind of frustrated. I've only sunk maybe 2 Japanese battleships and 10 other ships.

Also, I don't have any capability to conduct ASW missions and I have no idea if my subs are doing any good against Japan.

I have tried everything I can to make this work, but nothing seems to change. Some of the icons are there, others are NATO icons. Most units are out of sequence (the 1951 inf to start) Many pictures are missing as well. I can build nuclear ships in 1936... Trying not to be TOO picky, but I think you chose wrongly where the map is concerned. The color palette you've chosen is even worse than the original... and that was drab enough.

I have loaded and reloaded doomsday, patched cleanly 11 times.

I think I'm giving up. Looking forward to .30 though.

Good luck fellas I can only imagine the man hours spent on this, but... well...

Overall I like this mod. The techtree is done well, especially the doctrines if you ask me, although its a bit overwhelming at first.

My only real beefs with the mod (REALLY big beefs) is that: A) The AI goes DOW crazy worse than the AI does in Superpower 2. B) The slowdown some people are complaining about seemed to be temporary for me. It occurred around the buildup period but subsided eventually. The play speed is pretty normal for me now.
