Hello. Is there anyway to restore the eu4 terra incognita? I get the reason for knowing the Indian Subcontinent due to CK3s map but it would be nice to be a little historical, since podunk counties shouldn't have full maps outside of eastern Europe or the near east. Or how states with the west African tech group don't know how to sail the coast to get to Morocco, but can perfectly path a land route to china.
That's as easy as it sounds. Every province in EU4 is flagged by "discovered_by = <some tech groups> ". For provinces outside CK scope, we don't alter this. For provinces inside CK scope, since everyone saw everything anyway, we flag them all as being discovered by everyone. How exactly would we make a distinction, and where, when CK saves can produce utter chaos and cultures can be anywhere across the map? And tech groups are tied to those cultures, so visibility would be utter hodgepodge. It's far easier and makes more sense to unlock CK map to everyone in EU4.

If in a new update, could you have a converter option for terra incognita to be based off of vanilla tech group discovery? I know it would be decently shit but then atleast the option is out there. I just think its weird that places like England and Portugal immediately get missions done that should've taken 50-70 years.

How are Reforms of the HRE handled? If for an example I remove the Electors law from the HRE in CK3 and have Primogeniture as my Realm law (as Emperor) will the Erbkaisertum reform be enacted in EUIV?

Yes this is doable. Not even difficult. I'm working on 1.7 Vic3 atm, but after that I can take a shot at this.

They are not. There is no way to mod specific HRE reforms as passed at game start, EU4 does not support it.
HRE translates as is, whole, or you can shatter it through converter options, at a level of your choosing for a vanillaish EU4 experience of reuniting it again.

@killermankey

PSA: The converter has been updated to now support More Bookmarks+, thanx to support of Sabre.

Since we do not want initial vision to span from Ireland to Cathey, there is a new default config option which relies on vanilla province visibility instead of just giving everyone visibility to everything.

Also, due to some internal changes, make sure you don't have Sunset Invasion enabled by default if you don't want that.

Would it be possible to make a converter option that makes it so that the primary culture of a nation upon conversion is the culture which composes the most provinces? I have had situations in many of my games where (to give one example) if England has a king of spanish culture, the primary culture of England will be Spanish. Because the AI does not culture shift in eu4, this means that by the time victoria 3 rolls around, many nations will have really wacky primary cultures. Thank you for all your hard work and consideration!

If the pope is in charge, it's catholic.

You can disable this by commenting out:
link = { eu4 = catholic religious_head = k_papal_state }
in configurables/religion_map.txt.

thank you btw this worked but i had another question now, Mozarabic still shows up as catholic, does the converter not have a Mozarabic faith as a Eu4 faith? Thank you

Yeah, same file:
link = { eu4 = catholic ck3 = conversos ck3 = catholic ck3 = mozarabic_church } # Fallback for old saves (pre 1.6.1.2)
If you want to change it, drop mozarabic from that link.

No, we don't have it separate as it's very similar to irish catholicism - just a local flavor, not an independent faith.

thank you alot i appreciate the help

I reformed the Irish Insular Christianity religion into my own custom religion and when converted to EU4 it just comes up as catholic.
All faiths that retain Pope as the head (irish insular, mozarabic, and all derivatives) are catholic by definition.
If you don't like that, edit configurables/religion_map.txt.

I'm trying to convert a save game and it won't begin converting. Would anyone be able to help?
Borked config. Go to converter folder and delete configuration.txt.

Or uninstall and reinstall.

Hello! I do not know if this is the correct location to put this. But me and some friends are trying to convert a save and we are getting the error "Character 2 has culture 76 which has no definition!"

I just spent an hour tracking down the converter error. It's your friend.

His name breaks the converter. Since we actually do need nested quotes in localizations, I'm not changing anything, and he should change his name.

OMG LOL! This is actually the funniest shit. I love how silly code can be some times. Thank you for the help! I will get him to change his name.
