Hi guys,

I have converted my CK3 Byzantine Empire game to EU4 with no issues a couple of months ago - now I played Jerusalem, ended game in 1390s and converted the savegame to EU4. It loads no problem, I select Jerusalem from the map it starts loading and crashes few seconds later. Could you guys help out?

What version is your eu4? You're feeding 1.4.4 ck3 save into a converter designed for 1.2 (get a newer one).

Hi Zemurin, I tried converting a CK3 game using the converter, but it stopped once it hit 58%, I have tried using a different save from the same campaign but got the same result. Any assistance you could offer would be great.

You save is heavily corrupted. It looks like a 1.2 save imported to 1.4.4 with all the issues that come along. The mods you used are 1.2 mods. Converter gives up here:

Counties really *really* shouldn't be destroyed in any game, ever.
There's nothing I can do about it.

How to play converted game (ck3 to eu iv) in multiplayer? should we both have the same mode or how does it work?
One player converts a game and then shares the mod.

Maybe this question is a little premature, but I was wondering how the team behind this project were planning to support the new culture mechanics in Royal Court and how this might impact other mods (EU4->Vic2). I know that culture modding is a problem with the converter so is it going to be a case of just not adding compatibility?

For eu4 snd vic2 nothing will change as they don't support any form of hybrid culture mechanics. Vic3 might but we won't know until it's out.

Sorry, I might have not been clear, or I might be misunderstanding you. I meant I guess is there a plan to change the culture mapping in the import (more thinking about CK3->EU4) somehow to dynamically assign cultures that have diverged or hybridized in CK3 to cultures in EU4 and import them in that way or even better (but probably more technically difficult) import the new cultures themselves somehow? And in addition to that, if one of those answers is yes, would that have a knock-on impact on imports downstream.

We can't do that. Imagine english-spanish-russian-turkish culture in ck3. Sure, we can create such a culture in eu4 as a brand new one, but it can fit only in one culture group, and it wouldn't match any of the events, decisions, ideas, triggers from vanilla. And we are not about to rewite all of vanilla files so such new cultures can be supported. And this is all without even starting with the mess that's eu4->vic2 culture conversion.

So no, eu4 can't handle that. We'll map that to one, probably parent culture, "english", while exporting such a multiple mapping into a special file so vic3 can revive such a mapping if they turn out to support such messes.

0.8H - Hellenic
NEW VERSION NOW RELEASED!
(DIRECT LINK TO THE DOWNLOAD)

BarcelonaReleaseBanner.png
Compatible with CK3 [1.3-1.4] and EU4 [1.31.5+]

CK3ToEU4, 0.8Hellenic

Maintenance Release

This light maintenance release is necessary as 1.31.5 changed many aspects of the base game, but it also brings a few small enhancements and fixes.

Hotfixes

  • CK3 saves with nonsensical -1 for incoming culture and religion have those now properly handled (ignored).
  • Converter will no longer stop on incoming nonsensical landed titles but will still scream bloody murder.

Coldfixes

  • 1.31.5 compatibility across a host of files, most notably techs, institutions and ages. This makes those files (and this converter) incompatible with 1.31.4 and lower.
  • All countries have been fixed to use correct (modern) mercantilism definitions where needed.
  • Localizations are read from incoming mods "/replace" folder as well as regular folder.

Expansions

  • Islamic religions now output to predefined religious schools, so there will be greater variation from incoming CK3 faiths.
  • Siberia can now be wiped fully regardless of country sizes there, if user so desires (configuration option added for this)

Shuffles

(None)

That's absolutely fair and entirely what I had expected. I was just curious :)

Is it possible to keep the dynamic idea selection, but keep the historical institution spawn?
Sure, create a dynamic ideas conversion, go to your produced mod, inside commons/institutions, delete the institutions file so it defaults to vanilla.

Is it intentional that Mon culture converts into Burmese in EU4 instead of converting into Mon culture? It was easy to change in the configuration file, but I am just wondering if it is supposed to be that way.
Mapping predates eu4 mon culture, likely.

I do not know if it is a planned omission or not, but Zoroastrians lack their blessings and Shirvan is not nerfed (I think and I will not complain lol).

Here is the situation. Im the current multiplayer GC on OPB's server, I am Eranshahr, the Shahanshah. We are in 1304, so we are getting close and did some conversion test.

As a feedback, dev is very flat, would it be possible to implement a feature that kick up the dev of province over 90 or capitals so that we see a bot of green pop up im the converted part?

I was wondering, is there any way to change the missions to be more dynamic too? For instance, if the Muslims win the Reconquista and form Hispania, they get stuck with catholic missions where it might make more sense for them to have the Andalusian missions? Failing that, is there a way for me to modify the country mappings to change the name in EU4 so that EU4 thinks that CK3's Hispania is "The Empire of Andalusia"?
I assume that it's under tag_mappings, but I've been reluctant to mess with it just in case it does something weird.
