Join us tomorrow at 2PM CEST for a detailed breakdown of the new Celestial Government, the Dynastic Cycle, and other China-centric mechanics coming to Crusader Kings III in our upcoming expansion: All Under Heaven!
I am clueless about the iconography here, but the pose looks kinda like the stock 'undecided' (i.e. those who haven't strongly backed other factions) pose for me.Could second from the right be a eunuch faction? Would that even work for the time period?
Ah, I was focusing too much on his neat little hat.I am clueless about the iconography here, but the pose looks kinda like the stock 'undecided' (i.e. those who haven't strongly backed other factions) pose for me.
Or in the likes of Liao where admin and nomad combine?I think the far right one would probably be some sort of nomad / foreign faction? (judging purely by the garb), probably more significant in the case of Conquest Dynasties where it could get some prominence?
We know that there will be some phases or focuses that define a dynastic rule. Based on that my guesses would be:Looking at those symbols and thinking
I could also see the "Barbarian" party just representing the interest of any tribes in the Empire. Like even if its not a conquest dynasty I could see the Tang having them to represent the interests of the various turkic mercenaries serving in the empire. We know that there will be some phases or focuses that define a dynastic rule. Based on that my guesses would be:
But those are just guesses, and I hope we'll see more tomorrow!
- Yellow is the colour of the emperor, as is the dragon as a symbol, so it's the Imperial/loyalist faction most likely, seeking a high legitimacy from the emperor, but also supporting him (or her)
- Red tiger would probably be a warlike/Jingoist faction, favoring expansion by force, as indicated by the expansionist cycle. Or a faction for military governors/generals? Or both?
- Green (wealth, health, fertility) and crane (longevity, loyalty) probably stands for the inward faction that wants economic growth, great projects, peace
- The court official's hat is likely a better version of the courtly vassal stance, and its members probably want high court grandeur, (grand) activities, and an emperor who acts within the boundaries of noble etiquette
- Conservative Movement likely hates change lol
- Then we have the (in)famous court eunuchs, who are a faction of influental non-hereditary bureaucrats
- Last is a Mongol, so it's probably a movement that gets unlocked if you're a conqueror dynasty? Like the Yuan or later Qing, they sinicized to a degree, but made it a point of staying distinct from the Han majority, going as far as discriminating against them.
- I can imagine this faction to swing both ways, either as a collection of all non-Chinese (external) members of the realm, wanting nothing to do with the Han majority. Or the other way around, a tab for a movement that is not satisfied with the emperor being a foreign conqueror, and wanting the dynasty to assimilate and sinicize
- That the number is empty would indicate as much, since at each gamestart no conqueror dynasty rules over China
I think that the yellow may not be a loyalist, but generally the power of the Imperial House and the minor princelings. I mean, I think some dynasties tried to empower their princes to assist the Emperor, while others abstained from this. Maybe this would be "a Princes' party"?, and as for the last faction, I think that the party representing the non-Chinese members that want to preserve their interests as e.g. victorious Mongols would be likely. We know that there will be some phases or focuses that define a dynastic rule. Based on that my guesses would be:

I know it's WIP, but I do hope in final version each faction may have an unified pose and its own background (from event backgrounds) in this very page.Briefly; we weren't sure if we could publish on time for Tuesday. Seems to be on track though, so woe, teaser be upon ye!
