Already done. Check out my latest AARs. I use the feature extensively. Or, wait for my upcoming AAR. My broken finger is healed. I am just trying to decide what to play next.can you add research time sort, so you can simply select the best company for research instead of scrolling throuh the list every time.
What if Rafael Trujillo had decided that the Dominican Republic needed an aircraft carrier more than anything else, even at the cost of starving the entire population? I'm definitely in favor of historical accuracy, but in the end, DH is just a game.Max number you can build. This is if you want a more historical game.
Technically Brazil can build carriers and unlimited but if the game limits based on research the chances of Brazil AI or a person prioritizing carriers for research long enough to have a full fleet of them is incredibly low, no?
Never, 2 units can have the same name alsoI am not at my computer atm, but when did we lose the ability to rename units? I rarely do it, but I remember being able to.
Dynamic names would be a lot of work. Who is going to make the name lists for hundreds or divisions, and dozens of ships for each country? Do you want that for all countries or just the big 6? Where does it stop? If you do the UK, what about the commonwealth? What about the Chinese? Siam? If we do those, we have to do Sweden. What about Spain? Lots and lots of research and work. When are the devs supposed to have time to do that? Just playing devils advocate here. @J_Master are you volunteering to make the lists?Never, 2 units can have the same name also
I guess what's @J_Master wants is dynamic names
I guess what @J_Master is asking for, is a button to auto rename the unit tothe first one avaliable in the list, or at least that's what I understood. How is that different from what the ai does automatically now? If we don't like the name it chooses from the list we can just rename it ourselves. I am just not hat ocd anymore unless the ai names a garrison division as a marine corps. Units granted by event, upgraded ones, etc. It would have an use, but at least for me it's a feature not even between the ones I'd like to see.How is that different from what the ai does automatically now? You come up with names you like, you can always add them to the list in the game files. Been a while since I did it, but the lists aren't hard to find. Please ignore my statement, you just thaught me something entirely new about this game more than 10 years after I've started playing it. I can in fact rename divisions and not just the corps/armies they are a part of. Thank you!
That I knew already. But what I can do in game is, for example, just rename a militia division I upgraded to a infantry one after the first name the production cue picks when I build a new division. Now I may finally do that National France game where I upgrade all my infantry to mechanized and try to show the Germans what real warfare looks like! (nukes, lots and lots of nukes)You come up with names you like, you can always add them to the list in the game files. Been a while since I did it, but the lists aren't hard to find.
Yes, I actually sunk more hours than I'm willing to admit to try and find the most bonkers naval build where a SAG would reliably close on a carrier fleet. My results were disparaging overall, with no clear winner emerging that can perform in 100 percent of the engagements in normal weather and during the day, but one tactic i found can increase your chances of success would be to have a gigafleet of heavy cruisers with range and spotting enhancing brigades such as floatplanes, radar and fire controls. with a single unbrigaded low level carrier. This makes the fleet prefer an engagement range of 5kms, and CA 36 (i think) is the fastest model of heavy cruiser with 34 speed. As enemy ships prefer to target the only capital ship, ie. the carrier, you buy one or two hours of closing in and ripping the carriers apart with the heavy cruisers. Admittedly, it works maybe 50% of the time and only on old carrier model-containing fleets. It works slightly better if one uses cl35 instead of CA, but that composition is quite weak in terms of sea attack and suffers bad casualties even against medium-sized fleets.Because usually most players using BBs are playing kind of "old guard": the bigger guns, the better guns... more guns, better.
And when they get pounded by carriers, so far I've heard none concluding that it perhaps needs a change of tactics.
If you insist on using ships with less reach than the enemy, you need to make sure to get into reach. So you need to maximize your sea detection, minimize your visibility to kind of sneak into BB-gun-reach. Is there even 1 player using battleship fleets in this way? I would be honestly interested to hear about the results...
