Playing as saxony, going fr the achievement; 50y in, so just started integrating Thuringia. Also just became emperor. My short term objective is to PU Poland with the mission. How do I most efficiently spread my dynasty? Marry to countries without an heir? My prestige is quite low because I had to do a disinherit, and atm only a few countries dont have an heir.

I think the easiest way is to look for dynasties which already fulfill the conditions and then marrying one of the countries who can spread such a dynasty to you and then letting your ruler die without an heir. While you have a junior partner, you can't fall under a PU when your ruler dies without an heir.

With diplo ideas, you could royal marry all heirless countries to which you can spread your dynasty(so no other country must be more eligible to spread their dynasty) and break the royal marriage as soon as they get an heir.

Or you could go the other route and expand to 5 continents(or get the dynasty of a colonizer). You need to get to east asia anyway to get the Meissner Porcelain achievement

What exactly do you mean by fulfilling the conditions?
Also im integrating my junior partner because I need their province for the preceding mission, so i wont have a junior partner anymore

The conditions for the mission. So dynasties which rule at least 4 countries which have at least 120 opinion of you(or which you can get to 120 opinion)

There is another way to spread your dynasty: Acquire some monarchy vassals (ie. not republic, not theocracy) and use the "put relative on throne" subject interaction.

If the mission conditions require independent nations with your dynasty, you'll have to release those vassals (which IIRC requires you to wait either 10 years or until the truce expires). But if the mission conditions allow subject nations with your dynasty, you're done! (Well, technically, you also need to improve their opinion of you, but that's usually trivial for vassals.)

The main downside of this approach is that you'll probably accumulate a lot of AE due to taking 3-4 HRE vassals. And then, 5-10 years later, you'll get even more AE from PU-ing Poland. Probably a good idea to keep an improve relations advisor up at all times, and set all of your merchants to also improve relations, so that the AE burns down as fast as possible.

Theoretically, if you have to avoid AE at all costs and you don't need independent nations (and you're willing to accept a lot of pain), you could release vassals from within your already-owned territory, change their dynasty, complete the mission, then diploannex them.

EDIT: Some nearby one- or two-province duchies may accept diplomatic vassalisation - this is a different way to force your dynasty on them without AE. Depending on the in-game date, you may be able to forcibly create these tiny duchies by attacking large nearby nations and releasing the tiny nations in the peace deal - there's no AE for releasing a nation, and the released nation loves you, meaning they're fairly easy to diplovassalise.

Only if you move your capital to another continent, because both Polynesia and Australia are part of the continent Oceania and you can't spawn colonial nations on the continent of your capital

The effects of the monument are applied to the country which owns the province, unless the monument explicitly says that they are for the overlord. But you might benefit indirectly from a stronger subject.

There is a very small number of monuments that give the overlord a direct benefit. Most do not.

but when I try to culturally convert I only get option for France (me), which is no help for Maan's great project

I suggest you recheck that you have adjacent Syrian provinces. In the base culture map, Maan is not adjacent to any Syrian provinces - there's at least one other Bedouin province between it and the Syrian-culture region (Al Karak, Al Aqabah, etc). The fact you can see the option to culture-convert to French suggests that culture conversion is possible (ie. state religion + no separatism) and that Maan is not adjacent to any provinces of any other culture (as per the starting culture map).

In this case, if you want to convert Maan to Syrian as quickly as possible, you would need to convert one of the in-between Bedouin provinces to Syrian as quickly as possible. Culture conversion time depends on province development at the time you start the conversion so, for minimum conversion time, you should choose whichever in-between province with the lowest development, exploit the tax/manpower development if possible, and only then start converting that in-between province. While you're waiting for the in-between province to convert, exploit dev on Maan as many times as possible (probably 2-3 times), as this will speed up Maan's culture-conversion time.

(FWIW, as a European/Asian/etc, I normally accept Bedouin, and culture-convert Cairo + that one low-dev province on the red sea to Bedouin to unlock the pyramids. And TC the entire region. That way, you get Petra immediately, and you only need to use one accepted culture slot to enable the two monuments.)

2nd question - is Suez canal worth the investment?

If you strictly analyse it: probably not. (20k buys a LOT of ships + maintenance - if you're worried about going around Africa then it's still probably cheaper to build a duplicate fleet for the "other side".)

But I always build it anyway, because it's convenient; and because I usually have more money than I can spend by that stage of the game; and because I generally RP as a super-technologically-advanced nation, and building the canals more than a century early fits in with that.

Syrian needs to be an accepted culture in your empire I think before you can convert other provinces to it. Or was that to use the monument? It's been a while.
There definitely needs to be an adjacent culture of the type you want to change the province.

Which culture does Maan have? Its default culture Bedouin also works for the great project if you accept that culture

You can convert a province to any neighbouring culture, it doesn't need to be one you've accepted. ("A province can have its culture changed to the primary culture of the province's owner. With The Cossacks, a province's culture can also be changed to any owned neighbouring province's culture or its culture can be restored to whatever it was originally." Source)

OP wants Maan to be Syrian because Syrian is already acceoted, so they wouldn't need to spend another culture slot to activate Petra. Although, if they've got an unused culture slot that they have no plans for, accepting Bedouin would be the fastest method.
