Thanks! How exactly does "Support Rebels" work? In my current game Leinster has three provinces with England holding Meath and Tyrone. Tyrone is currently occupied by Tyrone Nationalists and under siege by the English, the Tyrone rebel army has been destroyed by Leinster. Meath is occupied by Irish Patriots who currenty siege connacht (I guess they want to found Ireland and thats why they attack Leinster).
I would like Ireland to appear on the map or at least have Ireland be completely owned by irish countries... I'm currently supporting Rebels in meath vs. England, which gives +3 Revolt risk (brings it to 8.2%) so... is the only thing I achieve by doint this to increase revolt risk? And does this mean that every month there is a 8.2% chance of additional rebel troops spawning? Statistically that would be once a year, right? Is there anything more I can do short of DoWing England?

Edit: If I DID vassalize Leinster and then DoWed England... would the other two Irish provinces be conquerable by Leinster? They have claims but no cores... What if I only wipe out the English troops but let leinster siege the provinces?

Another question: How can I approve MY attitude towards another country? I know that Military Access (+10), Docking Rights (+10) and a Royal Marriage (+25) do, but is there anything else? I find it a bit silly that the game tells me, who I like.

Easy/quick ones:

+25 Royal Marriage,
+10 get Fleet Basing,
+10 get Military Access,
+20 share a rival (enemy of enemy),
+15 give them war subsidies (only when and while they're at war of course.)

= +80

Some further explanation, including on the issue of why a human needs an opinion of AI nations (mostly in the subsequent posts.)

Ok, sorry if this is a common or not a simple question, I haven't read this whole thread and I am new to this game. I was playing as Castile and was trying to oust the Muslims from the area by conquering Granada. It was going well, I was besieging all 3 of their lands and I thought I was about to finish them, but then something weird happened. My war with Granada ended suddenly, I didn't get the provinces, and I had a truce with Granada and an African nation for 5+ years. Also, I was now in a personal union with my neighbor Aragon. Before that point I was only allies with Portugal and Hungary. So how did this happen? I missed something important, shouldn't I get some choice on what occurred? I know the union is kind of like a vassal, but I don't know how I ended up in one, or why it ended my war with Granada. Any insight for this EU4 noob is appreciated.

You didn't have an heir, and then your Monarch died. This put you into a Personal Union. Had you realised you had no heir, you could have taken more Royal Marriages to increase the chance of getting one. But when your monarch dies there's no choice in going into the PU.

You can now break out of it by fighting an Independence War against Aragon.

The war ending is a standard 'feature' - when a nation goes into PU during a war, they immediately leave the war and instead their overlord/PU-master takes their place in that war. It's a bit odd as to why that happens, seems like it would be better if the new overlord joined the existing war but you didn't actually drop out. Anyway, that's how it works at the moment.

Thanks for the answer! It is news to me that my Monarch died, but that is apparently the message that I missed. I did try to fight out of the Union, but Aragon had a number of allies, including Portugal who was formerly my ally, and I couldn't fight them all off. That's fine though, I was playing it as a learning game. Thanks again for the help.

Yup.

Note also that you can choose any value on the slider to get the +15 bonus to both sides of relations (theirs of you; yours of them.)

That includes giving them 0.00/month for 60 months, to get the full mutual +15 bonus :D

Of course if you feel that's rather nasty cheesy-cheating, just give them whatever amount you feel is reasonable :)

Well, I won't give them fu**all if I only have to do this to cancle out a bug, obviously ^^

I just did what you suggested (changed rivals to please my to-be ally) and I got the +20 for enemy of enemy INSTANTLY, only THEIR relation to US is ticking up slowly

One more time in regard to my earlier question... when my Vassal wins a siege in a province they have a claim to (not a core), will I be able to give it to them in the peace or will they occupy the province for me? I have allied and married leinster and I want them to take the rest of ireland... they have claims on the remaining two (english) provinces...

No, when a vassal occupies a claim of theirs, it is occupied in the name of their overlord. There is currently no way to push your vassals' claims other than taking the province yourself and selling it to your vassal.
