Romania

Şantierul Naval Constanţa (Constanţa Shipyard) needs some liftup otherwise the air team (IAR) would research all ships.

Dimitrie Leonida: He was a professor of physics doing thing in electronics. Why mechanics and artillery? There is a mistake here. There is a Leonida automobile workshop
http://autoturism.rdslink.ro/gbist.htm
It did the conversion of Sov tanks.

Uzinele Metallurgice Copșa Mică și Cugir
Note2: The original had training, I have retained it.

Costin D. Neniţescu
Note2: Added industrial engineering. He was a prominent figure behind the industrialization of Romania.

I assumed Dimitrie Leonida was the founder of "Atelierele Leonida" or "Leonida Works/Workshop". I'm not sure though, so good You’re bringing it up.

Hard to find any relevant information

Rename "General Electric" to "General Electric UK" or something. Did general electric have factories in other countries than the US and UK by the way? If that is the case this team will loose significance and relevance.

Does the picture for Decca Radar portray a radar from the 40s? Is it me or does it look like a colour picture

And...I would prefer more abstract logos as pictures for some of those British tech-teams.

The prefered naming convention for TTs are T_ENG_Name.bmp
It has several advantages (1) Renumbering does not affect it. (2) Original pictures are not overwritten. (3) Easier to know ehich picture belongs to which team.

Easy1
That is a preference issue. I prefer pictures of assembly lines or factories instead of logos.

As for Leonida, no I do not think he is the founder. The one is a workshop the other is a physics professor without mention of the workshop in his biography.

I see that nobody has come forth with Greece research teams.

The one solid research and development done in Greece during that time (other than what some individuals did on their own was from the Metsovion Polytechnic school of Athens)

Here it is,
http://www.ntua.gr/index_en.html

The Metsovion Polytechnic (as part of Athens University the only one in Greece at that time) professors of civic engineering were primarily responsible for the

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metaxas_Line

a brilliant piece of engineering.

Therefore I would propose either Athens Metsovion Polytechnic or Athens University as a research team for Greece. I could try locating some period photos if you like.

The School of Civil Engineering was established in 1887, as one of the three "Schools of Industrial Arts", within the reorganization of the existing school as an Institution of Higher Education, with a four-year curriculum. The first 13 civil engineers graduated in 1890. In 1914 a new reorganization was performed and the institution was renamed as "Ethnikon Metsovion Polytechneion". In 1977 a major reorganization of the courses took place, while three cycles of studies were developed: Structural Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering and Transportation Engineering. Following the last radical reform, by Law 1268/1982, NTUA was divided into nine Faculties (Departments). Recently, the Faculty of Civil Engineering was renamed to School, thus retrieving its historical appelation, whereas a fourth cycle of study was established, Geotechnical Engineering.

http://www.civil.ntua.gr/

Therefore the name should be...
"Ethnikon Metsovion Polytechneion" meaning National Metsovion Polytechnic

Great pictures from the Roupel fortress, the most known of the forts which comprised the Metaxas line, guarding 297 of the 440 kms of border between Bulgaria and Greece.

Εmblem,
http://www.softlab.ntua.gr/~nickie/Images/Various/pyrforos.gif

Many people associate the Polytechnic of Athens with the students uprising of Nov. 17 1973.
It would be unfair to all of the other periods in the history of the Polytechnic and their contributions to Greece to be erased because of that. I won't ever deny or diminish the sacrifice of those students and their efforts to bring Democracy back to its native land, but this is 2009, not 1973.

I don't think any of the teams I suggested would be appropriate for Scotland or other revolters: I have a few ideas though, so will whip up a few teams for them.

Ok. Please let us know.

Could you please make your proposal according to the standars?

we have a deadline till saturday for the RTM version . i will take whats available then and include it in the release version.

The bulk is almost done.

So Cardus what is next?
ENG needs to be done.
Chinas too.
Did you implement the JAP teams you have suggested? And France?
There was a number of cold war suggestion for SOV and USA by danielshannon.
Small suggestions here and there, I don't think that we can do it by Saturday.
*******************
This how I see the thing:
ENG, USA, SOV needs attention. They are majors.
No new suggestions for the rest of the week.
Others can wait till patch (thus I do not think we should stop working on the project). Still we implement whatever we can by Friday, however it is not a priority.
*******************
For Hungary please also mention Turul, he had some nice suggestions which I have implemented.

Goddamnit. My coding just got eaten.

I'll put it up again tonight - no time now.

mentioned

I give him level 7 Mechanics training General equipment but if you guys at this project give him something else its OK for me. I think he will be available from 1946

From here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Kalashnikov he should be available from 1942.

I have been requested to provide the real name of the contributors in order to get credits on the TTs teams. Please let me know. Thank you

Italian cold war TT: Olivetti

As already mentioned I was thinking to a new cold war tech team for Italy. In my opinion it could be Olivetti 1946 - 1970. I would assign to it skill 6 and the following specialities chemistry, electronics, mathematics, mechanics.

The company was founded as a typewriter manufacturer in 1908 in Ivrea, near Turin, by Camillo Olivetti. The firm was mainly developed by his son Adriano Olivetti. Olivetti opened its first overseas manufacturing plant in 1930, and its Divisumma electric calculator was launched in 1948. Olivetti produced Italy's first electronic computer, the transistorised Elea 9003, in 1959, and purchased the Underwood Typewriter Company that year. In 1964 the company sold its electronics division to the American company General Electric. It continued to develop new computing products on its own; one of these was Programma 101, one of the first commercially-produced personal computers.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olivetti

The Programma 101 was a printing programmable calculator manufactured by Olivetti in 1965. It is regarded as the first personal computer produced by a company (that is, a desktop electronic calculating machine programmable by non-specialists for personal use). A futuristic design for its time, the Programma 101 was priced at an almost affordable $3,200 (versus $25,000 for a PDP-8).

They probably did, but we are thinking of two different companies. In addition to the American Megacorp that you refer to, there was also a British Company with the same name, on which I based the team: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Electric_Company_plc

Does the picture for Decca Radar portray a radar from the 40s? Is it me or does it look like a colour picture
Apols: you are right to note that it was a colour file. My personal HOI2 setup has colour pics for teams that appear in the late 1940s/early 1950s. As the colour was so faint, I didn't notice. I have made the pic b&w.

And...I would prefer more abstract logos as pictures for some of those British tech-teams.
As you (and Kunadam) note, it's a matter of personal preference really. I have a bias towards hardware/assembly line pics (I think they are sexier). I think for consistency they should stay as they are (ENG has very few tech teams that use logos: most are hardware/assembly line pics). Thanks for the feedback though: is much appreciated:)

---------------------------------

Apologies to all for not following the naming convention: there are of course very valid reasons for using that system (I once accidentally copied over the pics from the CORE mod into my vanilla folder, and it took ages to clean up the mess...). Have updated the filenames and the .csv file accordingly: please see the link below.
