The very first post in this thread shows the VC redistributable file in the image, and the quick troubleshooting guide on both the wiki and in the archive day to use it if there are problems. I used the latest version of the archive provided by this thread.

Thanks for the video. I'll take a look at it.

Like I said, I have a Windows 11 laptop I can try it on if the exe is no longer compatible with anything before Windows 10. FYI, please stop telling people who are using Windows 7 to upgrade. It's just annoying. The whole argument has gotten old, especially when we've been running the systems securely for years. Windows 10 will be out of service relatively soon, so I'll stick with 7 on old hardware and 11 on new hardware, thank you very much. I have a security expert as a close friend who has told me the precautions I need to take with Win 7, which he thought was perfectly fine for a dedicated gaming system. I have had no virus problems or hacking since Windows 7 went out of service.

If the exe doesn't work on Windows 7 anymore, Windows 10 or above needs to be listed as a requirement on the first post and in the readme. Imperator: Rome and CK3 both work perfectly fine on Windows 7, so you're going to get Windows 7 users on the forum from time to time. I have never had any problem with the converters for other games on my Win 7 desktop, and there have been other Win 7 users in this thread (who were not told to upgrade, by the way).

EDIT: It works on my Windows 11 laptop, though only after jumping through several hoops with antivirus programs. This is a very new laptop, so this is probably going to be par for the course on new Windows 11 systems. I never encountered this problem with other converters, through that was all on Windows 7. Maybe I need to test all the current versions on Windows 11. I'll repeat what I said though: the first post and wiki need updated.
Can you redownload the converter and retry as @IlikeTrains suggested?
The frontend is now compatible with Win7.1 onwards.

Is there any way to see a list of which cultures get converted to which? For example if I accept Fayumic (Or whatever its called, one of the minor egyptian cultures) and play with the culture conflation mod so that rather than assimilating to roman, all other egyption cultures assimilate to fayumic, what would this culture be converted to in CK3. Egyptian? Coptic? Or would a new Fayumic culture be created? Also, do all the greek cultures get converted to greek? Or does attic stay attic, macedonian stay macedonian, hellenistic stay hellenistic, etc.?

The culture_map file in the converter configurables files ImperatorToCK3\configurables has a list of what all the cultures convert to. Compare with the files in the I:R game directory for cultures. For example, Fayumic is middle_egyptian in Imperator, and the converter converts that to Old Egyptian in CK3, which is created by the converter. You can edit links in the culture_map file before converting a save file to customize which cultures convert to what.

I just tried it. I do see some new files were added, but it's still not working. It could be something unrelated to Win 7, like maybe something is installed incorrectly on my system. I have another older but more reliable Win 7 system I could test it on, so I'll hook that old desktop up and give it a try.

In the meantime, I'll use the converter on my Win 11 system to convert the save. The antivirus flagging it is annoying, but I did manage to get around that.

Thanks for re-suggesting the download though. It's nice to see something like this get updated so quickly. I'll let you know if it works on the other system.

EDIT: I just wanted to add some relevant info. I just tried the latest version of the CK3 to EU4 converter, and it's having the same exact problems as this one. The older versions of that converter (0.8 and 0.9) work perfectly fine. So something about the newest version of the exe for any of the converters is making them not work on my system. It doesn't really make any sense that it would go from working on Win 7 to not working. I'll try an older version of the converter to see if it works.

EDIT2: Hunch confirmed. 6.0 Otho has the same problem as the current version, but 3.0 Claudius works immediately. I'll test on my other Win 7 system tomorrow to see if it's my system or a general Win 7 incompatibility.

Try using this version, it should work even on older systems:

Fallen Eagle is not supported at the moment and apparently has broken syntax in some file. You should deselect it.

Sorry for the late reply. Oddly enough, I tested the versions that didn't work on my Win 7 gaming desktop on my much older Win 7 desktop, and they worked fine. So it's definitely something I'm missing on the gaming system. I guess that's the difference between something I built from scratch in 2019 versus a 2009 HP desktop that had Win 7 fully updated before it went out of service.

In any case, thank you, the latest version of the converter does work on my gaming desktop. I'm not sure what's missing. Both systems are running Win 7 SP1. It could be any number of little updates or other software, I guess.

Sorry for the double post.

First several attempts at conversion have failed.

The main error is "za is an invalid culture identifier."

Uploading log.txt and save file.

This is also caused by an outdated system, but try updating to new release. It should now catch the CultureNotFoundException.
It works like a charm. Thank you.

I went ahead and got everything installed on my Win11 laptop to compare results. The current converter version naturally has a few more warnings on my Win7 system, but otherwise the results are nearly identical to my Win11 system after conversion.

The only anomalies I saw in CK3 were 3 Catholic counties: Hjaltland, Faereyjar, and Lothian. Lothian has an Anglo-Saxon Catholic ruler and Anglo-Saxon culture.

There's probably more anomalies, but this is very good, especially given the near identical conversion on Win7. It should be very playable. The legions as special troops is brilliant, by the way.

If there are any files you'd like me to upload, please let me know. Thank you for your patience with me. I realize this took a good amount of work just so it would work on my system and systems like mine. I appreciate it.

I'm currently busy, but will try to look at the problem some time in February.

How may I share a converted Imp2Ck3 mod with someone else I'd like to play multiplayer? I sent him the files from Documents/Pdx/ck3/mod, he could successfully add the mod to the playlist, but his game was stuck in the loading screen. Has anyone experienced similar?

I don't play multiplayer, but some people publish the mod to Workshop.

Hello, I'm using the Imperator to CK3 converter but I'm having an issue. Previously when I used it last week and selected to import legions as special troops and to import gold at a 1-1 rate it worked fine.
Today however, neither of those options seem to be working. No special troops are showing up in the CK3 save, and none of my gold has carried over.

I've looked through the warnings during the conversion process and nothing seems to reference troops or gold.

Any idea what could be causing this? I'd like to continue into CK3, but with how massive all the empires are having no troops would be suicide, and no gold will make for an obscenely slow start.

My legion composition is the same for all legions as it was in the previous converter with the exception of one legion. All of them are 8 archers, 12 heavy infantry, 6 heavy cavalry, 2 engineers, and 2 baggage trains. The only exception is the first detachment of the first legion which has 2 elephants in addition to the standard troops.

The only difference in gold from the previous converted save is there is significantly more of it, about 50k instead of 10k.

Log File is attached below.

Edit: On a hunch I deleted the elephants and tried converting again. It worked fine that time. I don't know why that would have affected the gold though.

Please upload your I:R save (preferably the previous one too).
Also, unless there's a good reason not to, you should always use the latest converter version (currently 6.2.17).
