Wardens,

We hope that you are enjoying the new expansion Island Bound!
To keep track of all bugs and issues you are reporting, we created this list to bring back to the team. If you have experienced a bug not already in this list, please let us know in this thread.

Remember to include if you are using mods (and if you do, try to disable them - as sometimes they cause issues) and how to reproduce the bug you are experiencing. Being able to recreate a bug is the first step in understanding what is wrong and how it could be fixed! :)

I just wanted to follow up here as I've received zero response to this. Is anything even being done? Paradox does realize that this game is COMPLETELY broken in it's current state. A game that has been out on the market for years has been made unplayable by your most recent patch. A fix for this needs to come out. Today. Or you need to just roll the state of the game back to something stable. This is just inexcusable ineptitude.

Its been going on for like 2-3 days now and no conformation of a fix! i'm so annoyed as ive only had this game a few weeks and now i got the weekend to play i cant!!!!!!

PC: When in planning mode functions, such as pathways, objects and walls don't appear. Even when you switch to Legacy or SAFE MODE it doesn't change anything. No mods have caused this as I am running without them. However, the only time that these functions do appear is when your holding left click, as seen in this image. As far as I can tell this is a graphical issue. Functions not displaying properly.

The brokenness of deliveries pretty much breaks the game. Laundry doesn't work. Staff meals don't work. MAchine shop doesn't work. Planning mode is bugged, though actually still works. It's just anything but walls seem to be invisible when placed.

Paradox: You would be smarter to roll back the last patch and go back and do some quality control. I know that this may not directly seem to make money, but it's better than leaving every single person who has the game legitimately unable to play it in it's current state.

Can't see this one listed anywhere. Dynamic reputations are far too generous in giving traits out. Had a basic prison with a yard, only form of exercise was running, and every single one of my 16 prisoners now have the extremely quick trait. Should maybe be a percentage chance to gain or limit the amount of the same trait it can give out per prisoner.

Would also like to bump the staff meal bug too. Coming in as one meal per stack only, meaning most staff aren't eating.

I posted the following list of issues before Update 1.03 released, and even post-update most of them remain unresolved. All of them relate to core game mechanics, and need to be fixed soon. Also added are a couple of new issues that occurred post-update:
  • 'Clothing' need rises much more rapidly as compared to before. At any given time at least 2/3rds of my 200-person prison is 'desperate' about this issue, despite having multiple laundries with proper logistics, enough janitors, and prisoners hired to work in all laundries too. Also, prisoners don't seem to change clothes in lockdown, they only do it during free time. Prisoners should be allowed to change clothes during lockdown as well. I can't verify if this was possible before, but there is no reason to not allow it.
  • Footbridges cannot start or end at the tile right next to the road. Both of these things were possible before.
  • Footbridges cannot be built next to each other, there needs to be a gap of 1 square vertically between each of them. In fact footbridges now cannot be built directly next to any objects, there needs to be a gap of at least 1 square in every direction around them. This was not the case before. So you can no longer build 2 or more footbridges parallel to each other.
  • Janitors still don't clean as thoroughly as they did before 'The Rock' update. They seem to neglect cleaning inside individual cells and infirmaries, specifically.
  • Prisoner 'sleep' need is extremely low, and all prisoners sleep throughout sleep time. Not a single prisoner is awake, even if they have no need for sleep. This is not a good thing. It sounds good at first because now the 'Sleep' need is basically 0 all the time, but the problem is that one, it is not realistic for prisoners to be satisfied with 2-3 hours of sleep; and two, if prisoners have other needs apart from sleep but 0 sleep need they still can't satisfy those other needs during sleep hours because they are forced to sleep. So they cannot satisfy needs like hygiene, bladder & bowels, or clothing during those hours. I'm guessing that this is part of the reason clothing need is so high now, because earlier prisoners used sleep hours to change clothes too if they didn't need sleep. The 'Sleep' need should go back to being the way it was before 'The Rock' update, it worked fine and was realistic. The new mechanism is just bad.
  • Workshops do not receive sheet metal deliveries.
Please, please fix bugs on a priority basis before launching new content. Please understand that no one will pay for new DLCs if the base game itself is broken. I myself was planning on buying the Island Bound DLC but changed my mind because of how buggy the game is. Please quality-test your releases, it's ridiculous that basic things like sleep, planning, and clothing are broken. Is this why there are no more pre-release demo streams on Twitch: because it would expose how broken the game is?

I had Staff Needs turned on and was working fine and then one day I opened up a previous save and only one staff meal at a time was being delivered. Now all my staff have low morale as they have no food and its making my prisoners stressed out. I also noticed that when a staff member does eat that one meal they appear to be holding a staff door when doing so.

Staff meals and uniforms are getting delivered in stacks of 1 each and took up my entire delivery area.....vanilla 1.03 the rock

Post today's 'The Rock 1.04' update:

  • 'Clothing' is fixed now.
  • Workshops seem to be receiving sheet metal deliveries. It took a few in-game days after the update but now the deliveries seem to have resumed. I've seen 2-3 deliveries so far, of 10 sheets per stack delivered. Going to have to play a bit more to see it supply keeps up with demand.
  • Janitors still don't clean perfectly. They clean common areas like canteens, workshops, and corridors of cell blocks perfectly, but they are not frequent enough in cleaning individual cells and infirmaries. They also don't clean unoccupied cells and cell blocks, though I cannot verify that this was different before the latest updates.
  • Bridges still can't be built directly next to any other objects, or start or end on the tile right next to the road.
  • The devs haven't modified the 'Sleep' need mechanic over the past few updates, so I assume it is a feature, not a bug. I still don't like it and prefer the way it used to be, but at least it works the way the devs intend it to.
  • It seems that with the latest few updates, construction materials like concrete, bricks and steel and utility materials like pipes and cables are no longer auto-spawned in the delivery area. Instead you have to wait for them to be delivered. Maybe like the new 'Sleep' mechanic, this is a deliberate decision by the devs. However, I think it should be rolled back because it greatly slows down construction times. Even minor constructions like building a small section of a wall take several in-game hours, because you have to wait for the wall material to be delivered. Undertaking major construction can cause a massive line of trucks waiting, with essential deliveries like food and prisoner transport either delayed by the construction material deliveries or delaying the construction material delivery. I really hope the devs reconsider this decision because it slows down gameplay a lot and causes unnecessary headaches. This in my opinion is now the biggest issue that needs fixing.
All in all, it's encouraging to see the devs patch out quick updates, but the game needs at least 1-2 more patches before it returns to the stability it had before 'Cleared for Transfer' and 'The Rock'.

Staff meals seem to work if you start a new prison. I was also getting stacks of one at a time, but only from loading an old save.

Has anyone had problems with Reception? My prisoner bus keeps dropping off at Delivery, even with a functioning reception room much earlier along the road.

Road deliveries are now broken. Seriously broken. It makes me want to throw away the game after spending ~650h with it.

Before the update, road deliveries worked just fine and the road gates at the top of the map were never blocked by stuck trucks. I took great care to balance deliveries, workers etc. to ensure that.

Now, what happens EVERY SINGLE TIME is that trucks pile up all the way to the top of the map.

Here's why that is really, REALLY BAD:

- Deliveries are delayed, potentially causing shortages of meals, workshop materials etc.
- Playing in escape mode becomes a chore, because your prisoner truck is stuck the f***ing queue for hours
- All road gates are open ALL THE TIME, so escaping gets more easy than it should be
- Now that building materials are road delivered too, it becomes a pain to build virtually anything.

Now that building materials are road delivered too, it becomes a pain to build virtually anything.

Coming form someone who used to play with the "Slow Deliveries" mutator all the time, construction is really not that bad. It only becomes a problem when you're ordering construction projects unpaused: You draw a wall four meters long, a truck comes in with four bricks. The game doesn't know you're about to draw five more walls after that, so when you draw your second wall, eight meters long, another trucks comes with eight bricks, and so on for each drag-and-release. If you begin all your constructions while paused, it should be fine when unpaused. A potential fix is to introduce a minimum frequency to supply trucks, forcing trucks to wait so that more materials can be loeaded, and leave a few specific times of day as an exception to this rule, morning and evening, for example.

I beg to differ, construction is now a huge pain in the neck. The problem is not only that construction itself is slowed down, the trucks bringing in bricks cause a delay for trucks bringing in other supplies and trucks exporting workshop goods. This cascading effect slows down the operation of the entire prison. Also, if someone is playing with the 'No Pause' mutator, then it will be even worse for them as you acknowledge. So now the 'No Pause' mutator is useless, as is the 'Slow Deliveries' mutator if everything is delivered without it anyway.

Why was this change even made? People who liked having everything delivered already used the 'Slow Deliveries' mutator like you did. The potential fix you suggest sounds incredibly convoluted and complicated, and is a solution looking for a problem that doesn't even need to exist.

Building foundations is blocked, but only on certain squares. It just says No Route and becomes blocked. One half of the foundation is built so I know it's not blocked and it doesn't matter where on the plot I try to build, it says this. I have tried both as urgent and non-urgent, Even when attached to buildings that are already made. This appears to have started happening since the last update. It happens to every foundation so now I can't even expand, rendering the game unplayable.
Playing on Mac. Not had this problem before in the 400+ hours I have played
Screenshot 2020-07-31 at 11.50.36.png

Informants are broken. When one informant is "En Route" and finally arrives in the security room, they reset and teleport back to their cell. I tried a few different times, tried restarting the game, and he's still teleporting. I tried a different informant. This new informant would never actually leave their cell, but the guard would repeatedly show up and try to escort them to security. You can see the guard escorting an invisible inmate to the security room while the informant remains asleep in their bed the entire time. The guard will reset when they arrive at security, and another one will show up at the informant's cell to try again, but the same issue repeats.

No mods.

Just had this exact bug in my game today, was reported more than a month and a few hotfixes ago, still hasn't been fixed.

Have the same issue in Windows. Also not just foundations. Floortiles are also affected.
20200810225245_1.jpg

I am also experiencing 2 other issues.

First, some trucks are stopping at garbage and export zones waiting endlessly, despite garbage and/or exports being disabled for the road. I have to dismiss them manually, since they wont move otherwise.
20200810231312_1.jpg

Second. In larger prisons the AI has trouble assigning jobs properly. All Staff simultaniusly stops whatever they do and get reassignd to another job. This happenes every few seconds, making it impossible to get stuff done.

€: Did some tests. The last problems relates to the first. I had all those blocked jobs with high priority. So every few seconds the game tried to assign the job to someone. For some reason the game seem to choke on that, since way more staff is affected than jobs being blocked.

Since installing the DLC, my game crashes constantly. I'm lucky if I can get 5 minutes before it freezes and stops working. Before this I had over 100 hours in the game with zero problems, I am not using mods (and never have), but as soon as I installed Island Bound the game is now unplayable. Is there any known issue that might be causing this, or anything I can do to attempt to fix it?

Hello!
Sorry to hear that the game is crashing for you! We would appreciate it if you could upload your crash log so we can take a closer look at what can be causing the game to crash!

You can find the files we looking for at this positions:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Introversion\Prison Architect -> There is a file called "debug.txt"
and
\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Prison Architect -> there are crash dump files in this format: "Crash_2020_7_8_15_55_17.dmp"

Thank you for the feedback!
