Im just putting events on the table, anyway the flavour events, are like the AGCEEP events for OE , 50 infra, it just gives that "feeling" :p also I dont think everything should be based on "changes" but really just simple events.

these for example are just "flavour" not "major", just to give the player some sidenotes in the Omega Caliphate :p oh and that poetry is from my notebook, do you mind if I added it to my fantasy poet ;)

Andaleeb the Poet

Jehemman Ad-Dadani, nicknamed the Andaleeb or canary bird, was one of Baghdad's most celebrated poets and storytellers. He was well know for his extravegance and vulgarity, and appreciation to all that is beautiful. His love for wine and women was unbound. He wrote over 45 books of poetry and Kitab, the science of oral speech. He was whipped well over 8 times for commiting adultery with several women, but that didnt stop him.He entertained the Caliph's majlis with witty humor and powerful poetry. He was perhaps, one of the greatest poets to ever live.

When the stars kiss the cheeks/of the crescent upon the eternal city/
When the breasts of thy lover strike my tender lips/like delightful wine and gentle rebirth/Beauty so refined, when she undresses/when she lays her hair upon my bared chest/With Slim waist and inviting hips/I scream with estecasy,Baghdad!Oh eternal city!do not cast me away from your pleasue!/Do not let me suffer from unwinding my self in you, you are the maiden of my dreams,oh Baghdad!

Brother against brother

When Caliph (insert name) died, the Ulama council congregated to choose the best and most able ruler among his children to rule the Ummah. There were two , Ahmed, a stanch muslim fanatic, with exceptional martial skill, and Ismael, a boy with massive education and speculation. The majority of nobles supported the former in hope of more land and expansion, while the latter was supported by the Ulama for his wisdom and farsight.
The choice would greatly unsettle the Caliphate, as both had strong factions begind them, choose wisely....

Ahmed,let the christians fear us!
Ismael,let the Empire prosper!

Choose Ahmed- Ismaels revenge

As soon as Ahmed was choosen as Caliph, Ismael fled the city of Baghdad fearing for his life.He quickly took refugee in Hamadan, and gained a base of support there. He mustered supporters and quickly rose in rebellion against his brother Ahmed.Ismael's base of support grew franatically, and the Empire was bleeding with what would be considered one of the bloodiest civil wars in history. The nobility however backed Ahmed, and refused to submit to what they precieved as the (upsurper).

Choose Ismael- Ahmeds revenge

As soon as Ismael was choosen as Caliph, Ahmed fled the city of Baghdad fearing for his life.He quickly took refugee in Basrah, and plead the nobles to help him.In Baghdad, mini armies of thugs from aristocrats and nobles roamed the cities.Several cities within the Empire rose in terrible rebellion on the hands of the rich. However, the majority of the population and Ulama backed Ahmed, and fought the rebels and insurjents with the local militias.

Both events after 5 years
Civil War Ends

My lord, we have defeated the upsurpers and your brother was executed outside the main mosque. The collaberators were rounded up and killed, but the empire is wounded. We have salvaged what we could...
(for Ismale, - serfdom - aristocracy for Ahmed + aristocracy +serf)

Ulama Council of 1593

In the wake of the civil war, the Ulama , after the execution of the upsurper, congregated together to reach a formal and permenant solution to the problem of inheritance. They decided that all choices would be secluded to the Ulama, and would exclude nobles and merchants.Caliphs would be choosen on the basis of faith and administration, and not on martial skills any longer. The civil war has left the country barren and it was time to revive the blood soaked lands of Iraq.

Endorse the edict!
Do not endorse it!
Weaken the Ulama council!

The Shiites of Karbala and Najaf

The Shiite Alims always secluded themselves from the public, taking care of the Shiite shrines in Karbala and Najaf ,and guiding the faithful in the esctorica of faith.Howevera Mullah by the name of Kalimatullah Jenan El-Maradoshi called his shiite brothers to fight the oppressive Caliphate, and establish a Shiite state within the Empire of the false sunnah. He made the grave of Ali as a center point for his rebellion, and many mullahs and imams of the shia faith joined him.
The Caliphs milita quickly routed the rebels, and captured the imam, who was executed in Baghdad outside the Main Mosque. The Caliph faced a weighty decision, as many Shiite Alims supported the rebels, what was the fate of the shia in the Empire?

Destroy the shrines!Move Ali's Grave!----triggers event later

Execute the rebels and punish offenders only

Tolerate them....

The Destruction of Karbala and Najaf

As soon as the news of destroying the cities of Karbala and Najaf reached their populaces, a large tract of them fleed to the surrounding cities, while staunch Shiites remained to protect the Holy mosques. The Abbasid Army fought with the defenders, with a total victory for the Caliphate. The Holy Golden Domed Mosque of Karbala was burned to the ground, the gold and other precious metals salvaged from the mosque were sent back to the treasury of the Caliphate. The Grave of Ali was desecrated, and the nephew of the prophet was buried in a secret location. The center points of the shia faith were destroyed, and many of the heretics saw the light of the sunnah after this destruction of their Holy mosques. However, others rebelled.

The False prophet ---- must own Mecca and Medina by 1600

The prophet of Islam, Mohammed peace be upon him, was the last prophet, the ending nector of Allah's prophets. There was to be no other prophet after him, and the prophet warned of many false prophets to come.A man by the name of Shalala Urudu, a Hindu who converted to islam, later claimed himself a prophet outside the Kabaa of Mecca. The muslims there, attacked him and kicked him out of the city, where Shalala fleed to the desert. There, amongst the ill-taught Bedouins, and weak muslims, he gained support, and began the Joki faith in Arabia. It gained much support, mainly in the center of Arabia, and from there, Shalala raided with his men, the coastal Islamic cities of the Caliphate, and even dared to invade Baghdad herself!.It was time to deal with the false prophet...

Kill the bastard!and punish his followers!

Kill the bastard and send shieks to convert and teach the people of the desert

All to his faith- trigger event

The False faith spreads

To the horror of many in the Caliphate, the Joki faith spread amongst the bedouins and inner cities of Arabia. Some of the Jikina had the audacity of entering the Holy cities themselves!their Gurus dared even to openly do missionary work in the southern cities. The public was not pleased at all...

**perhaps 1 province becoms pagan?or Hindu?**

*begins concept work*

I'm beginning to have the war events pull together in my head, though I haven't started anything yet without more input from Byak. The flavor events I'll begin work on ASAP, with an eye towards overall balance...if I have the time tomorrow after my Calculus exam I'll make a spreadsheet of all the effects and try to even things out. I'll try and run it past everyone before I actually code it up, but I think you should all be pleased :) .

Most importantly...THANK YOU CALIPAH!!! We wouldn't even be getting started without your input, and the war sequence is really going to spice up the region. This is going to be really fun when it is finished :) .

:p awwwww you love me, dont you? do well in Calculas!

It's been a while since my last post, I just wanted you all to know I'm still here but progress has ground to a halt, school has been a killer this semester so far, and I'm pretty much drowning in work...I'll try to get some more coded when I can, but I suggest you find someone with more time to do some of the more complex event sequences.

tis ok :p

We can make a couple of events for the Timurids to reconquer persia, but I doubt it.

Or we can exchange Timurids with Il Khanate and make only the most western persian provinces fall in the hands of the Kaliphate. We could also go like history and make Persia revolt from the Timurids and become a eastern rival of the Kaliphate (they need one), that would also boost up the shiite religon, since it is very underpowered.

I go against that, I would prefer the Hindus becoming the khaliphates eastern enemy.Shiites should just...disapitate most likely, as their isnt something like the Savavid to force the sunnis.

As things stand with the Indian events that are currently under discussion, there is no Mughal Empire and Northern India will be united by someone else. Therefore, is there any point in having the Timurids at all when all they will go is cease to exist after 70 or 80 years?

they are mere actors in the play of history :ja:

Well, the Timurids could hold eastern Persia, Afganistan and some stuff north of that at start, like in vanilla, but they could then be unable to find new focus and would just stay around to be devoured or fractured.

The problem is the Kaliphate lacks strong enemies. They can too easy go into Turkey and kick byzantine ass, that's because they don't have any enemiers in the east, they get the persian territories too easy too, especially since these territories are shiite! So why do we even have the shiite religon in, when no great power has that religon, the only shiite nation in is poor Baluchistan, whose ass is kicked from all directions as soon as it is created.

We could of course exchange the Mamelukes in Egypts with the Fatimides, to have all three kaliphates in, and the Fatimides would be shiite, but they wouldn't be a big problem for the Kaliphate to crush, especially since the sunni/shiite wars are free.

Technically Oman is shiite in Abe (though it doesn't represent Shiism as such), but I suppose nothing on the Arabian peninsula really counts as an independent country.

Perhaps we should have an alternate history where the sultanates of India are Shiite. They're unlikely to be wiped out by the Caliphate for a while, at least...

India is more hindu and buddhist than any type of muslim, at least so it seems from India thread. Why couldn't the various central Asian hordes be shiite? Khazaks, Uzhbeks, Timurids, anything that is taking their place...

Making Persia Sunni would surely drive it into an alliance with the Kaliphate, resulting in a military juggernaut before one diplo-annexes the other and then goes on a diplo-annexing spree until they control the whole Muslim world... we need some reason for Persia and the Kaliphate to be rivals.

We could just have them have a bunch of interlocking cores, talking 8 or 9, that always seems to drive a nice conflict even with two nations with the same religon.

I personatly am at a loss as for what to do in persia. In the beginning a decent state would be great to fight the kaliphate, then later on, use the area as a battle ground if India invades.

We could just put Persia in as a Shiite revolter from the Timurids, and make sure The Kaliphate and Persia has claims on each others. That would probably make The Kaliphate and Persia fighting each other until an Indian nation is strong enough to meddle in the situation late in the game!

no I go against that, the Shiites were still not a majority in Persia until the Savavid take over, and at this time, most provinces SHOULD be sunni.I do have an idea, that the Shiites flea to Indonesia, and create the Ismahieli kingdoms there, and when India establishes itself there, we can see a nice fight between the two.
I have alot of ideas to turn the islands into a Shiite paradise..thats my opinion anyway.
