I agree with Jarkko on the excommunication of players, but I was actually thinking that even an excommed AI shouldn't have its King and Duke titles grabbed. As Sterk says, it's just too easy. Count titles, ok, but you should have to sweat a bit for a Duchy, much less a Kingdom.

Welcome back, Kle, good to hear from you again. Don't worry, we didn't start last week - we were indeed waiting for comrade Jarkko. Kiev is still waiting for you, or Denmark if you want to be dead within a century. :D

About patches : We've agreed always to use the latest beta patch, right? So if everybody could make sure to update on Saturday, that would be good. Also, I suggest everyone do a defrag the night before we play, apparently this helps with stability. It may be mere superstition, but it can't do any harm and is good for your computer anyway.
 
Certainly, nobody is going to say you have to play as Kiev. Be warned, though : I consider Finland a Norwegian sphere of interest. Not that it would be of much interest to Novgorod anyway, being poor, pagan and forested. A perfect match for what Norway already has, in other words.

But I suppose you won't be inheriting any lands from your father in Kiev... I hear it's quite a rich city, I just might have to stop by and have a looksie for myself.
 
Why squabble over cold counties in the north, when you got sunny Iberian counties right next to you? :)

Welcome everyone, I'm glad to see ya'll are hammering out the rules. This Sunday, May 1st will be the start of our multiplay marathon. I look forward to playing with all of you. Below is a list of players and their respective countries or regions of influence.

Players and their Countries/Regions:
  • KoM - Scandinavia
  • Prime - France
  • Kle - Russia
  • Traveler - Apulia
  • Sterk - Poland
  • Lurken - Iberia
  • Jarkko - England
  • Hohenzollern1 - Germany
  • Blackeye - ??

I hope I got that right. Please let me know if you wish to play another country or region. Lurken, my connection is provided by Cox cable, which gives me a perported connectivity of 5mb / 384 Kbps (Down / UP). I also currently have an AMD Athlon XP 2600+ processor, with 1024 MB of Corsair PC2700 DDR RAM. I know it's an older rig, but I will be upgrading this summer. I've been doing fine as the host and we have an alternate host, who is Robetimus Prime.

Can't wait to get this going, see ya'll on Sunday 0800 PST.

Good point KoM,

I strongly suggest that all those who wish to play this Sunday, reinstall their game and apply a fresh 1.04a patch then apply the 1.04b BETA (28 April 2005) patch. Good catch KoM. Again for best results reinstall then apply patches.

Also, let me summarise what I think we agreed on for the rules :

  • Act courteously. No personal insults, no flames, no whining.
  • No grabbing Kingdom or Duchy claims from excommunicated rulers, whether AI or human. Count claims are fair game.
  • No edits if it is at all possible to avoid.
  • No limits on Crusades, except that anybody who gets too powerful will be dogpiled. Time limits are pretty difficult to enforce anyway.

If I've missed something, it'll have to wait until next week; but I think this should see us through tomorrow.
 
Guys it was Queensday yesterday and I bought and ate some food from a streetvendor. I have been throwing up ever since.

As the game is still like 10 hours away, I hope Im able to play later.

Guys, about 30 minutes into the session I'm gonna have to go AFK for 15-30 minutes. Just saying.
 
Nice session today, lasted awhile, got a lot done. Poland now reaches from Silesia to Lithuania (Aukshayts).
 
Weekly Game Update

We played at Below Normal for most of the game with 7 players. We played from December 26 1066 to April 19 1083.

The players this session:
  • KoM - King of Norway
  • Jarkko - King of England
  • Sterkarm - King of Poland
  • Lurken - King of Castile
  • Robtimus Prime - Duke of Flanders
  • Kle - Duke of Novgorod
  • Traveler - Duke of Apulia

Quite a few crashes this time out. Not sure what the cause is, yet. Good group of players so far. We’ve started an AAR thread in the AAR forum and a diplomacy thread in this forum. Look forward to reading all the good AARs as well as witnessing all the juicy propaganda in the Diplomacy thread.

*Cough* As a matter of fact, we started no less than two AAR threads. Sorry Trav, I didn't see one so I started my own - about four minutes before yours if the forum clock is to be trusted. And since mine is the only one with any posts in it, it seems we are going to be using the correct name for the game. ;)
 
Eh, what? It's up to you to show up at game start. It's Sundays, 1100 EST. Brandenburg is still ready for you next week, though. Nobody has killed it yet, though with the way Poland is expanding, it can only be a matter of time. Better get your king and lord to stop him while he still can.

Exactly where do you live? I mean get the time wrong as Jarkko did is one thing but this?

EDIT: I think that the best AAR thread is the one of Traveller. It seems like the most official one. Maybe we can ask a kind Mod to merge the threads? Or something.

Personally I'm gonna wait to post my AAR until we have decided which AAR thread it should be.
