Goverment
Civilization Name: Crhz'Lek Confederacy
Government: Confederacy of Queens, each queen control it's own Hivemind
Leader: 175 separate queens

Positive Traits
Queen-Drone Collective - The Queens control their drones trough a Hivemind. The hivemind gives the queen direct control of every drone to do as she pleases.
Controlled Evolution - For each task in society there is a subspecies that has been breed to perfection to solve exactly that. Making production more efficient and creating new soldiers easier.
Hivemind Neural-Network - Since the drones are linked together by a Hivemind, when in close proximity their brains can be used together in order to solve problems without the direct interference of the Queen. This is how research of technology or colonization is possible. The higher amount of linked minds the higher the intelligence.
Collective Consensus - The Queens work in a collective consensus, they only do what is best for their collective survival. They are genetically incapable of being selfish and work for the Greater good of their confederacy.

Negative Traits
Drones - There is no individuality among the drones but only the queens are actually their own sentient beings. Without it they only got some basics instincts for survival. In order to keep in control of drones too far away, relay stations has to be built to transmit the thoughts of the Queen.
Alien Society - Since the Crhz'Lek is so very different from normal societies it makes it very hard for other species to interact with them or even travel in their cities.
Lack of Innovation - Because of the nature of the Hivemind society, it's harder for them to innovate new things.
Weak Anatomy - In order for large insecticides to develop the planet's environment has to fulfill very special criteria. Making colonization much harder since almost no planet can support them.

Species

kepheraRace.gif

Speaker - These are breed with the sole purposes of being representatives of their Queen to other alien races. They are adept at imitating new languages and costumes. Mostly common to see in the Galactic Council.

Builder - Since these are only found on their planet much is not know of these other than what has been told by the Politican's. Their primary purpose is assumed to be that of building constructions and ships. There have been hints of there being several different races of Builders.

Warriors - More information is available of the Warriors. Several different races have been spotted on the battlefield. They are ferocious and very strongly built often having natural weapons integrated. But they still rely on conventional warfare and weaponry like rifles and fire-team squadrons.

Pilots - No living specimen of this species has ever been found. It also have several races for different tasks. Though how they operate is not know much about as only encounter with these are on destroyed ships.

Homeworld

300px-Energon_Jungle_Planet.jpg

Name: Tok'Eklek
Environment: Very rich in oxygen, a human would die from lack of carbon-dioxide in the blood. Covered mostly in thick jungle with a lot of biological food which in co-junction with the atmosphere have let insects grow very large.

History
Crhz'Lek is a very young species, only being a couple of thousands old since the first queen evolved sentience. After that their evolutionary process rapidly speed up since the new queens had an inert ability to control the genetic makeup of their children. It didn't take long before the queens made specialized breeders who were even better than them to breed new drones.

Their technology is very conventional, it's not organic ships or anything like that. But their design usually are insect inspired most of the time. Their propulsion is mostly made up of highly efficient Ion thruster and powered by solar panels on the plating of the ships. They haven't discovered nuclear power or any kind of highly efficient weapon yet since they haven't had any wars that has made them propel into researching much military tech. So their weapons are still mass-based projectiles and it doesn't look like it will change much.

So far as they expanded in their system and colonized the moons and planets fairly quickly for mining operations, they met small resistance of sentient beings that they exterminated quickly.

The translation lags a bit as incomprehensible clicks and hisses emerges from the Speaker of the Crhz'Lek Confederacy.

- "click, different kind of click 'This one bring greetings from ...' hisss~ the fangs slams together '... the great queens of ...' clicks that sound like Crhz and fangs slamming sounding like Lek" The drone stops for a moment before continuing. "I will continue this session in a language that is easier for your machines to translate."

The First Crhz'Lek Purge - The Discovery of the Hivemind

It was a normal session of the Galactic Council, actually less squabble than what the representatives were used to. But soon enough the reports started to stream in from one of the furthest away star systems. One of the member polities, a human federation, had just recently started a colonization project of that system, creating an off-shoot independent polity. Several of the planets had been starting to be reformed, no sentient life had been reported and the first wave of immigrants were already heading there. The main colony planet were already reaching several million civilians starting their new life. It was a success for the federation.

But the reports, a silence in the council for the few minutes as everyone read. The representative of the newly formed polity yelled out: "I DEMAND JUSTICE! I DEMAND THAT YOU AVENGE THE INNOCENT LIVES LOST!"

The planets that had been colonized had been under attack and the entire population, dead. An insecticide race had invaded and purged the entire system of human presence. The reports showed it to be only a small number and very primitive type of ships. Several polities deemed this threat to be top-priority and gave aid to them by providing an armada to strike in the system to avenge the civilians.

As the armada of four capital ships from different polities and their accompanying escort ships left the warp gate they found, nothing. No trace whatsoever that there had ever been anything there. No residual traces of any battles or anything. They went deeper into the system and there, around one of the inner planets was structures built in space. Orbital shipyards constructing ships of an alien design they had never seen before. A fleet was heading straight for them. Though the technology wasn't as primitive as it was before anymore.

The battle was bloody, a lot of ships was lost. But no matter how many ships they destroyed, these new enemies they had found were quick with replacing them. Some ships just charged straight into the capital ships, piercing their hull and no regard for their own lives. It was an endless onslaught, the insects lost much more than the invaders did but they didn't seem to care. Eventually the fighting stopped and the insects took complete control over the warp gate and allowed nothing to go trough it.

Today at the Council

- "HOW DARE YOU ADMIT THESE MURDERERS? THIS IS APPALLING!" The representative was very upset, doing aggressive gestures and pointing towards the Chrz'Lek "THEY ARE NOT EVEN SENTIENT! HOW CAN THEY EVEN UNDERSTAND OUR POLITICS?"

The Speaker of the Chrz'Lek remained quiet, waiting for the disgusting humanoid to stop his yelling, it didn't seem to end any time soon.

- "They don't even own any systems legally in the eyes of this esteemed council! They broke every rule we have for warfare, you are allowing a race which performed genocide on million of innocent civilians." He slammed his fists into the data panel in front of him with every word he said next "And, I, Can't, Stress, This, Enough. They are not sentient!"

- "Just because this one does not have sentience not mean you can claim to own star." The Hive's silence had ended "We are proud to have exterminated invaders to star, and we will exterminate anything that comes trough gate again."

- "This ones function is to make sure you know consequence of testing our might."

The human continued to yell, the Chrz'Lek did not care, it did not listen. The swarm lives, the swarm eats, the swarm grows, the swarm survives.

- "This one contains memories of star. Crzh'Lek will feed upon strangers in way. The swarm lives, the swarm eats, the swarm grows, the swarm survives."

Crzh'Lek Confederacy refuses to provide with proof, it threatens by-passers and neighbors.

- "This one does not care for or need other voice. This one's voice is united, our voice is one. Your need for systems are primitive." The Speaker hisses towards The Nuncio.

Crhz'Lek Confederacy refuses the proposal.

Old Drones Die Hard

A late night in a research station on one of the core systems. The personnel received a popup in one of their terminals that was quite unexpected. An old drone that had been put out of use for several years had suddenly responded to them out of the blue. The researchers immediately started querying it for it's data.

Incoming transmission from decommissioned Drone WRAX-512319506234...
Pinpointing transmission origin...Done
-> Transmission incoming from star system with designation D-1
Queering WRAX-512319506234 for reason of activation...Done
-> WRAX-512319506234 has detected activity on volcanic planet in system. Visitors are of multiple unknown insecticide species.
-> WRAX-512319506234 updating species library from council database...Done
-> WRAX-512319506234 has identified species of being of Chrz'Lek origin.
Prepare WRAX-512319506234 of new directive...Done
-> WRAX-512319506234 has received the directive of observation mode.
-> WRAX-512319506234 is moving in towards planet to fulfill directive.

Then the console stopped responding and a video feed booted up. The drone was on the volcanic planet and observing the visitors. The insecticides did not seem to take notice of the drone. There were hundreds of them walking around, in different shapes and sizes. They clearly were different subspecies. No verbal or visual communication could be noticed in any manner between the drones and as they were working they reminded more of being machines than actual living beings.

The volcanic atmosphere was hostile, the atmosphere thick with ashes. They did not seem to be bothered by it. The drone zoomed in on one of the worker drones. This was the first appearance of a worker drone ever for any other polity of the council but they still noticed that it had no visible openings that could be distinguished on them, their eyes were smaller than documented as well compared to the Speaker in the council. These ones had probably been genetically changed in order to work there properly. Even with the changes they still reminisced of a large earth ants. The soldier species on the other hand had special equipment on them, apparently they can't be as easily changed as the drones. On the other hand the equipment was minimal, only a respirator and protection for the eyes, which implies that they are naturally resilient to harsh environments.

The builders seemed to be preparing for a future colony on the planet. The drone remained for the time to observe the activities.

The Chrz'Lek does not repeat itself, it has already voted NO to the proposal and the answer stays.

The Speaker was standing idle in his quarters. It was pretty much plain, some warriors stood along the walls and the Speaker in the middle starring into oblivion. A pling could be heard of the come and the Speaker woke to life and approached it. A V.O.C. official wanted to talk to it. He opened and waited for the V.O.C. to speak.

- "Greetings Speaker of the Swarm! I am here on behalf of the Doge to speak with you."

The Speaker started to speak, but it was still Hisses and clicks... It stopped for a moment then.

- "Excuse this one, it takes some time to learn new language" It spoke the language with some heavy faults in the linguistics but what it said was understandable. "What is it the Doge desires"

- "We have learned you are in need of minerals and labor for your new.... projects shall we say"

The Queens listening to the humanoid trough the Speaker didn't care how the V.O.C. knew of what they were doing. It wasn't something they wanted to intentionally keep secret. But the offer was very lucrative and they started mocking up a contract.

At the V.O.C Central Command of Security

The Central Command usually dealt with matters of piracy and security forces to keep the trade in the nearby area flowing for the system. But they received reports of enormous echoes pinging back trough the warp-gate. They were getting worried for a massive pirate raid so they had a defensive perimeter setup outside the gate.

The gate sparked to life, out from it came an enormous battlecruiser of unkown design. The commander of the fleet had only smaller ships like frigates and corvettes assigned to him, they were prepared for petty pirates, not ships of war. He immediately called in to the Central Command to have the fleet deployed and capital ships called in. Their response was for him to stall the unkown enemy for as long as possible until they could get there. Then the gate opened up again....

- "ANOTHER ONE?" he yelled out at the screen "Is this a fullscale invasion?"

The tactical computer identified primitive kinetic based weaponry and long-range torpedo silos on the battlecruisers, they were well in range but for some reason they hadn't opened fire yet. The tactical computer tried in vain to find anything in the council database or any symbols on the ships but its result was always empty no matter what it tried. After a long period of silence it were eventually broken.

- "SIR! We are receiving a transmission in our own language." the communication officer were reading text on his workstation "It seems like this is the trade fleet from the Chrz'Lek? That can't be right... But their identification token they sent checks out..."
- "Those damned insecticides, they probably don't know the difference between war and trade..." the commander were mumbling to himself, though relieved he gets to live another day. "Call off the battle readiness, prepare to escort our... visitors..."

*Featured in the picture is one of the Battlecruisers encountered and the V.O.C. security detail in the background.*

The Speaker of the Chrz'Lek answered in its heavily accented common tongue.

- "This one does not concern itself with your petty need for understanding and co-existence." It looks over at the representative of The Assorted Scales of Kalkorak "And the collective does not enjoy the neighbors advances..."
