No half-whatever hybrids in Warhammer.

2 questions that possibly have been answered already. First of, can a human marry a elve? I did becuase elve cuties are in my court. Yet tehy continuesly divorce. So I guess cant marry and have elven-human hybdrids. 2nd, After years and years finally a bright wizard emerged from my Albion. Now how can I ask him to teach me magic? I still only get "Teach Yourself Magic" decision

When you begin a new game you can choice in option if it possible for members of two species to marry. But I don't think that they can have children, dev will maybe add a hybrids for people who want but I'm not sure (I believe that in the cannon human and elves can't have children). Normally it him who will porpose to take you like him disciple.

That is one of the things we will most likely never add because hybrids are absolutely horrid to code for and we want some sort of sense in our system.
The Magic thing I dunno.

As far as I can tell, you can only be taught magic as a child while having the older wizard being your guardian.

Not directly related to the mod but does anyone know any good sources of information to get to know the lore a bit better? I tried looking at things like the wiki for warhammer and some youtube videos but they do not really explain things simply or they expect you to already know about other things.
As otherwise it is rather hard to get into the mod as I have no clue what I am doing or what the background for most events are.

I would go wandering around 1d4 chan a bit :D It is a good way to get a bit of grasp of what everything is about. Typically you identify with a race, and you take it from there. Me for instance, I like magic, so I looked into the High Elves, but from there I stumbled into the Lizardman and fell in love with the gloriousness of the Toad Master Race...

I vaguely know a bit of stuff from Warhammer Total War but I have gathered that the mod is set much further in the past so as to avoid massive blobs of the different factions, so basically I should just pick a race then look at it from there to work out their backstory and then see how the mechanics work for them in the mod?

If you want something less... peculiar than 1d4chan, Lexicanum is a good one. They only use sources from canon material ( core rule books, army books and some Black Libary novels ) and usually keep it nice and clean.

Avoid the Age of Sigmar section, though.

That is what I would do. Or look for a mechanic and perhaps ask for which races get the most out of it. Really, this point in the history is pretty much entirely fleshed out in the RPG books, it is a bit like the conquest starts in the AGOT mod, yes it bares some resemblance to the AGOT that everyone knows, but the details are correspondingly less definite.

1d4chan is an excellent source for the culture of the fanbase though. It was and is largely maintained by those who have been engaged with the hobby for significant periods, and the amusing little side rants about the idiosyncrasies make it an entertaining read, it has a way to just enthrall you in fits of giggles on the train to work in the morning :D

Just to add my own two cents, I'd check out this timeline of the warhammer world:
http://warhammeronline.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline

It's got links to most of the stuff it mentions so if you're confused about something you can just click the link and read up on it.

I changed some of the game options such as demense and vassel limit, and turned off regency etc. Now my game runs more slowly.

Is there any info on what is the optimal game setting choice for the fastest game?
