Is possible to combine two divisions or remove regiments to assign to another division ? I finished the Spanish civil war and have a lot of smalls divisions with high experience levels, so I want to combine them into a few full divisions without losing their experience..

Stupid questions:

How do I close a Theater? So I can create more Theaters?

Also How do I transfer aircraft from existing airwings to the reserve? So I can create new squadrons and airwings at other airbases?

Overseas troop movement? How to?

Click on your airbase. Select your wing. Click on the amount of planes (e.g. 96/96). Move the slider to zero. You can also move wings from airbase to airbase obviously.

How do I close a Theater? So I can create more Theaters?
A theater closes automaticly once you move your last army out of it. Edit: You can delete a theater by clicking the "settings" button to the right of its name. Than click on the trashcan.
To create a new theater you need at leest two armys (obviously, otherwise a renaming would be sufficient). Select one and under the theater-tab should be a new button; "new theater".

Is there a statistics screen, where i can see losses of me and my enemy, what my army consists of and how much enemy stuff i captured?
@ Losses
Only for the current wars AFAIK.
World-tension-globe > current wars > the war you're interested in
@ Army composition
Shortcuts [O, P, L] or the buttons in the top right corner who bring you to the army/navy/airforce tabs. You can see there the general composition of your forces (types and amount of divisions/ships etc.) In the tab itself, left to the "X" button is the "equipment details" button for more... details.

I can see in the research window (and on the wiki page!) the hardness of each tank and other unit. However, how do I know what the hardness of my division is when I mix in different hardness units? Doesn't appear to be displayed in the stats. How is the overall hardness calculated? Is it a case of say 1x 80% unit 9x 0% units would mean an 8% hardness overall?

Edit: Found it, bar just underneath the stats!

Why are late plane techs blacked out? Late war ships and tanks arent either.

How can i make the game harder while playing a major if veteran is too easy?

Why are some models obsolete? I never built tank destroyers for example.

Why are nukes so weak? I nuked japan 10 times but at 40 national unity it did not go down any further so i had to invade nevertheless. Not a satisfying return for the investment.

Why does britain have close to no manpower at the start?

Why do i need to have an army per border and cant use an army across lets say two short borders of two enemy countries?

Why do light medium heavy tanks have the same width?

In templates is the only valid option to have 10 or 20 width valid? Thats very limiting.

Later plane techs require you to research the Jet Engine first. You can find it under rocket tech in the electronic section with radio/computers.

You can always do what I did and play Germany and crank up world tension in late '37. Was at war with damn near all of Europe plus the US in fall '38. Was rough.

Why are some models obsolete? I never built tank destroyers for example.

I'm assuming you mean some countries' starter techs. Most of the majors, having participated in WW1, already have such technologies unlocked and into the next. Germany starts with tier 2 subs, for instance. Norway does not. Etc.

Why are nukes so weak? I nuked japan 10 times but at 40 national unity it did not go down any further so i had to invade nevertheless. Not a satisfying return for the investment.

Well, firstly, there's a hard coded limit to 5% national unity. Even if your nukes could drop it that low, you'd have to invade the mainland somewhere either way. Second, wouldn't be very fun if you could just turtle up all game, blitz nuke research and smack everyone until they just give up. Gotta actually play the land/sea/air warfare.

Why does britain have close to no manpower at the start?

That's a combination of things. First off, they're a democracy, and don't start with politics set at big conscription. Second, they have quite a bit already deployed, what with all the colonies they have to manage. Empire protection and all that. Third, a bit of a balance thing. They're arguably the strongest nation, have to have some penalties here and there to keep them from steamrolling the Axis/Comintern as soon as war breaks out. And last, well. It's a small-ish island nation. You can't really expect them to have the same manpower as USSR, China, or even Germany.

Why do i need to have an army per border and cant use an army across lets say two short borders of two enemy countries?

That... Is a valid question. It really tends to be a pain in the butt. Also generally won't let me set an advance over multiple countries either, and I wish they'd change it.

Why do light medium heavy tanks have the same width?

Well, essentially they're all kitted out the same way. Same number of tanks, same number of support elements, just a different type. The reason you wouldn't just use heavies for everything, is a combination of supply drain, construction cost, and the big one- SPEED

In templates is the only valid option to have 10 or 20 width valid? That's very limiting.

Well, I don't know about you, but my main panzer divisions last game were 40 width. Something like 6 medium tank, 3 SPG, 1 SPAA, and the rest mechanized. They were rather wide, but I'd send them in onesies and twosies to cut holes in the line and "lasso" pockets quick. Their attack was massive, with high speed so I broke through and circled around before anything moved out of the pocket. Perfectly viable to change up different widths based on how you plan on using them. These were rather poor for sieges though.

Sorry about the book, but that's a bunch of questions you got there. Hope I shed some light.

No i mean their symbols in tech tree are black and stay black after research

No i mean i never faced enough tanks to be forced to bring more hard attack in my divisions

In hoi3 two nukes were enough wasnt it? In reality after 10 nukes there would noone be left that could capitulate

Dont they habe 50 million ish inhabitants today? Thatd not that far off from germany. Dont know about historical numbers granted.

Maybe thats a thing that gets adressed with the quality of life adjustments

And another one: does anyone think island nations can be drowned via convoy hunting? All the times i chevk they are happily at 2-300 convoys despite 20 or 30 stacks of subs and extended sinking

And england failed to prevent me from landing 7 divisions on their home islands despite me having close to no navy as germany which i rather disappointing since they are done for at that point

My replies are in the quote. Sorry formating on the phone is rather tricky

If you're looking for the country identifiers, like for editing save games, not sure if you can do that the same way. In notepad the files come out a garbled mess of symbols. I may be wrong, there might be a way to mess with it, but I just tried to open a file up quick, assuming it'd look similar to AOD, no dice.

That's rather weird. I don't really need the TAGs for anything, just wanted to know all of the countries. I have looked into the wiki page, but I have seen videos that feature Croatia and Serbia, which are not listed on the wiki, so I assumed the country list was incomplete.

Ah, misunderstood on the planes. Evidently they just didn't add in the artwork for those models. Like how minors have generic "Heavy tank" etc. Those are black too. Can mod it in easily enough I guess.

As far as tanks, I can agree a bit. Only really ran into any significant number of armored divisions in my war with the USSR. GB/France/etc had a handful here and there but as you say, they can just be surrounded easily enough. Soft attack is definitely more important, playing against the AI. I'd be a bit more cautious in multiplayer though.

I get the nukes from a realism standpoint, but for gameplay it'd be.... cheese. In my opinion, your mileage may vary, but the combined arms warfare are what make the game. Not so much on just nuking into submission. I always saw nukes as a bit of flair and maybe for cracking a tough nut that just won't give up (Soviet Union losing Moscow, Leningrad, and Stalingrad and STILL fighting on, you cheeky buggers.)

And again, with GB it's not just about X people live in Y country, though that does make a big difference. Politics, age groups, their being spread around, as well as game balance.

In my experience, convoy raiding was fairly lacklustre. It leaves your subs open to attack from enemy fleets, and the handful of convoys sunk here and there don't seem to make such a big difference. Also, since most island nations produce the majority of their supplies from within the borders of said island, a "siege" in that respect shouldn't work.

Yeah, I finished sea lion the same way. had maybe 30 subs in the channel, and once the Luftwaffe obliterated the RAF and port struck all their ships to the bottom, just rolled a wave of marines and armor over, with a couple paradrops behind London. Easier than I thought it was going to be. *shrug*

Oh, ok. See, not all those countries exist at first. Croatia and Serbia for example, can be created if another country defeats Yugoslavia in a war, then at the war table chooses to create those countries as a puppet nation. That's likely why they weren't listed.

I can try to pull something of a list for you. Have a savegame where I own most of the eastern hemisphere. Maybe I can just start rattling off countries listed in my "Return Territory" menu ;)

I think they are colored in the production when researched. Are we looking at placeholders that did not get their final symbol assigned?

Yes, of course, I know. What would a non-history buff do on the HoI4 forums? ;)

I have a similar problem, only it is not my place to fleets but on the "Some Divisonen have not yet reached the point of"
That all, all forces are in the output port. I also will no planning time or the like displayed

How's the Anschluss working? I don't fully grasp it.
You can only research it if you have 550 k army in the field. If I check my manpower I'm above that number - is there something I'm overlooking. Should those forces be in a state (region of Germany)?

The Army numbers listed in the top of the screen tool-tip are not what the focus uses. To check that, you need to click the Army overview (top right button) and there's a statistic's button on there somewhere that shows your "army in the field" number.
