Nobody could ever accuse aurora of not having enough fine grained control ;)

in order to spread out those RADAR-equipped Fighters one per squadron.
Why was it we made those? As in, when would we need them, as wouldn't we usually have an awacs
They have 0 weapons, right?

You say that, but there's bound to be that one guy who served on board the USS Iowa as a gunner and wants 100% accuracy and thinks this is way too simplified, as there'd not modelled having sweaty men reload guns, etc. :p

For Fighter strikes out beyond AWACS range. No weapons, correct. Just a big RADAR.

Aurora is truly Dwarf Fortress in outer space.

I've turned around all the civvie ships that were headed toward the Harmony star system (none of them are on your map because that only shows the ships that are ALREADY in the Harmony star system) except for the Tugs that are towing loaded airbase space stations.

Force Randakar has arrived in the anchorage, where the Naval Base's Point Defense turrets can assist his PD fire.

It has been 70 seconds since the first salvo was fired, and we haven't yet picked up a second salvo on Thermal.

What's the hold-up?

Are they using reduced-size Launchers, which fire more slowly?

Simultaneous with the large-scale attack in the Harmony star system, the evil Modrons are also whacking our Diplomat in the Neutral Zone.

Those "7x Thermal 47" travelling at 78,000 kps are obviously missiles.

It couldn't be avoided. Even if we had pulled him out at the first sign of trouble, his only possible retreat route led through that fleet battle in Harmony.

It wouldn't have been possible to move him to some remote comet and hide there?

Hide? Like everything else, their sensors are way ahead of ours.

Otherwise they wouldn't have Fire Controls that can direct missiles from 200 million km away. It's the same tech.

But if you go full stealth, wouldn't it then be able to hide?

I would have to use my engine to GET there. The Modrons would know the location at which I disappeared from their Thermal tracking... the spot where I stopped.

They would start their search from there... and it would find me immediately, since "there" is my actual location.

I've seen this behavior before.

... and in any case, it makes a better NARRATIVE if they treacherously murder our Diplomat. A better STORY.

Fair point.
To be fair, they did warn us.

We'll take our revenge. Somehow. It ain't over.

Still, it was our system.
Hitler warned Poland too...

This fight literally started 2 minutes ago in-game ;-)

And if the missile spam turns out to be much less spam and much more sporadic then we may have a shot at this. We'll see.

Yeah... it's only been a few minutes in-game.

But the Christmas / New Year's rush is pretty well over, and I'll be updating somewhat more frequently now.

Working on the next update...

There are currently enemy ships in Teegarten's Star (one ship), Lernae (one ship), Harmony (the main fleet AFAIK) and the Neutral Zone (a small fleet).

I'm assembling our second task force at Earth.

It will take 3.6 days to reach Teegarten's Star, 4 days to reach Lernea and 6.4 days to reach the Harmony jump point.

The 78,000 kps Thermal 47 contacts are indeed missiles, size 12.

Our Diplomat in the Neutral Zone will be the first to die.

The warheads do 18 damage. Ouch. One of those will perforate four layers of armor.

We are now officially at war! The treacherous Modrons have killed our peace envoy.

Size 12 is pretty big. No wonder it takes a while for a second salvo to show up, reloading them is slow as heck.

I hope they don't have pen aids on these. It already looks painful enough. That salvo is what, north of 2800 damage if everything hits? More than enough to kill an Emotion without breaking a sweat.

The good news if any is that the numbers they can bring are limited. They won't have infinite magazines for something this big.

As for the scouts .. we should send some sabres after the scouts in Teegarten and Lernae. No reason to let them get any closer.

Size 12 is way bigger than what we can do, right?
Also, 18 damage for 12 size. Isn't it only 1 damage per size for our tech? So they must be 50% ahead.

This.
Albeit, can Sabres even catch rhem?

As for reloading, how long should we expect its take?

Also, are we fortunate they went for Schwerer Gustav, in that it means way less rapid fire, or will we end up Sevastopoled?
