January!

Still no reciprocal agreement.

Re-tooled for Galaxy class shielded Carriers!

Build Time 3.7 years... maybe some pre-builds would help.

Other than that... the usual.

Well... we were squatting in a star system adjacent to their home planet for a couple of years, and sucked most of the minerals out of it before we left.

They might think we're a bunch of dicks.
Sounds like we may have been close to 0 on the relations and hence close to war...

They might not be wrong.

Naturally, I'm not implying that we're right and they're wrong.

Just that we're the Humans and they're the Bork.

Still... I much prefer allies to enemies, and peace to war.

Could be.

If they were that close it can take about a full year before they reciprocate the trade treaty. But that's fine, it will take some time for them to reach max level to begin with. A decade or more, I'm guessing.

We're at 200 now.
800 takes another three years.
then we have to get to 2400 with 400 per year so -- that's another 4 years.
Then the next level is 4000 and we only gained gravy sharing -- so at 500 per year or so you're looking at 5 more years.
After 12 years you have your alliance, and that's not even the highest level.
The highest level is research sharing, at 6000. 3-4 more years, at 600 or 700 diplomatic points per year.

So, with 15-16 years to go, it's not a big issue if we lose a year of them not giving us their trade treaty.

How un-Dutch of you. That trade treaty should be giving us wealth!

The reason why the scout wrecks do not yield engines is the same reason as to why the rocket launcher operator kept dying first in boarding combat - size. The game rolls a number to see what is hit by damage and bigger components take up more space on the list. Components that are destroyed in combat cannot be salvaged.

Yeah... but there were more than 200 wrecks, and so far we've recovered exactly ONE engine (aside from the ships we boarded).

That sounds like the RNG laughing at us, more than "engines are big".

How many Carriers full of Boarding Shuttles should we bring along?

Each Tender was able to attack three or four enemy ships with its shuttles.

Carriers have exactly 2/3rds the Hangar space of a Tender (8,000 tons vs 12,000 tons).

So a Carrier-load of Boarding Shuttles would be able to simultaneously attack two or three ships.

The usual builds.

Our Agent class scouts in the Neutral Zone run out of endurance (again) and need to be rotated out (again).

Retooled yet another shipyard for maintenance workshops. We'll need LOTS for the invasion.

Still no trade access.

Just the usual builds.

Do the carriers have extra crew space for the proposed boarding parties, or can they just stay on their shuttles forever?
(Or is that no longer a concern?)
If needed we could build a small "barracks barge" and put that in the carrier hangar bay alongside the shuttles.

I think this depends on how many ships we plan to try and capture, and how many fighters we want to bring along.

Is the alpha strike large enough? Do we need more fighters to add to that? Or are we essentially happy running a low fighter strategy?

For me, I would say 3 or 4 carriers worth, assuming that doesn't compromise our fighter capacity too badly. Of course, this can also be changed fairly easily to adapt to circumstances (e.g. We encounter an enemy where we decide we really don't want to let the gunships close!)

Carriers allocate quite a bit of extra life-support whenever you add a Hangar Deck.

Presumably for the crews of whatever fills the Hangar.
