Awesome.

For an obsolete junker that's fantastic!

AGAIN the enemy squadron changes its mind!

Having jumped through and stopped on the jump point, they then changed their minds and decided to move out of our range (the Fortress cannot pursue, of course). Then they changed their minds a second time and charged back in, only to be greeted by a hurricane of Gauss PD fire (24 solid hits, knocking out an engine) which persuaded them to change their minds again (the third time!) and once more flee out of range.

Seven more hits on the Marengo, one of them a penetration.

Yes, for equipment built in the 1980s, this is hilarious.

If you look at the most recent combat log (posted immediately above) you'll see the Gauss Cannon complaining that they've moved out of range.

It was having fun...

I guess they're waiting for their own weapons to get online. .. Waiting right in front of the gun barrel of those quad turrets.

.. until they get shot, but then they promptly forget about that.

The Fortress of Doom is living up to its name.

It is, of course, doomed... since Red 2 will be jumping through in a couple of minutes, and they will simply vaporize an unsupported half-century-old fortress.

It is certainly causing a ruckus, though, and sowing panic in the enemy ranks.

I have noticed that the duplicate ship numbering that we were complaining about earlier has fixed itself, seemingly with no input by us. YAY!!!
I re-numbered them. So that I could easily tell messages referring to Red 1 or Red 2 apart.

Dammit sir, they are getting away!

So what ship in Red II gets targeted?
Whoever hangs around long enough for a good pecking

Like Indiana Jones, really. Not that impressive, but he's creating on heck of a show.
Don't forget about the jump shock though. They may be there soon but not able to fire.
So they're really volunteering for a good peckin' ;-)

They changed their minds about stopping on the jump point and managed to move out of range of our Gauss PD turret ( :( ) but we'll get one more shot at them.

No penetrations, unfortunately... just some armor hits.

The fortress fired instantly... no fire delay!
Could this btw make them think our weapons are weaker than they are and hence be more reckless in approaching the fleet?

They can't even remember the fortress shot their scouts 5 seconds ago..
