Hi all,
Does anyone know what happened to SolSys?
On 27th Sep, I have sent him a PM to report him that the old "ISP blacklisting problem" with the Wiki seems to have come back (see below, just checked now for Stellaris Wiki)...
On that same day, SolSys told me that unfortunately seemed to be a problem tied to the MW software update (which, as I have later understood, is the software used to run all Paradox websites)...
On 30th Sep I have reported him that the problem seemed to be still on-going even if some people in the Stellaris Modding Den server's Wiki Discord channel pointed out that the Wiki seemed to be back (as in the past this blacklisting issue seem to cause trouble in a patchy way...to some users does, to other users doesn't...but I have to remark that it is not necessarily happening "only to VPN users" as sometimes was suggested in the past!), but I was still getting the above-said issues...
To be honest SolSys was quite diligent and got back to me on that same Saturday (TBH that wasn't expected, because I merely sent the PM as soon as I noticed the issue was still on-going just to avoid forgetting it) and told me he'd run a check (which I have found puzzling because...well...I have provided the error details...isn't evidence enough of the problem? ...are those error messages meaningless to you guys too?)...
...but then was "radio silence"...
I have sent him a PM on the 4th October, on the 5th October, on the 9th October and on Sunday (15th October)...all reporting the fact that the blacklisting issue is still on-going...frankly on Sunday I was kind of upset because at this point feels almost as being "ghosted" over the issue (even though his getting back to my PM on Saturday seemed to suggest a quite different attitude to the problem)!
Later I have checked SolSys profile and I have noticed that there was no forum activity since 2nd October...
...so I was wondering...what has happened to SolSys?
I mean...to be honest the "radio silence" after being reported the re-emergence of an old chronic problem with the Wiki blacklisting users feels really bad because seems almost being "ghosted" over a problem, but maybe he's away on vacation or something like that!
However seems that the blacklisting issue is getting worse because I have noticed that the Wayback Machine, which generally it is a way to try to circumvent this issue, seem to no longer save some pages of the Paradox Wikis!
Now, while it is a silly problem (because the Wiki seems to blacklist ISPs randomly...not just VPN ISPs), the Wiki is still a very important source of information and if the method found until now seems to be so fragile that cannot "survive" even a WM software update, maybe the system to protect the Wiki from malicious actors should be improved!
