I'm having a strange problem. The map filler seems to ignore any land province after the first land province and any sea province after the first sea province. Have you seen this problem before?

So Im getting this error.
x9x5g0O.png

I followed the instructions, I think right, adding the provinces and all (took a while).
Just installed Java 8, not sure if the issue is me not having Java 7.
Also, not sure if flags must be placed in "...mod/modname/gfx/flags" or "...mod/modname/gfx/flags/_other". Maybe that´s the issue?

This (in 99% of cases) just means that the paths you put in the config file aren't quite right.

Regarding the random flag assigning: I've reworked this a lot in the update I promised a description for a few posts back. In the released version the _other folder is bugged. It doesn't properly find the flags in there and assigns the default flag instead (you can use any flag as the default flag). This will be fixed in the next version.

Ok so yhis should be a quick fix. I already made the tool work with the EK Mod, so I should be able to pull it off. Thanks for the quick answer.

I was wondering these two things, I hope you don't mind me asking them (these could be taken as suggestions perhaps):

-1) How dificult would be to add one (or perhaps several) extra columns to add province modifiers? It would be usefull to "seed" things like population levels or economic resources.

-2) How dificult would be to create a reverse tool? I mean, one that read the maps and histories and generates a .xls file ready to be tweaked. It would be very useful for total conversions which use an already existing map, or are based on the vanilla map, for that matter.

I'm aware of the ability to extract the colors from a map. But can we already extract the dejure, culture/religion and number of holdings? (I apologise if I am being pbsolutely obtuse at that).

It is an undocumented feature that I added in v15:
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...custom-map&p=18508304&viewfull=1#post18508304

Written for the Warhammer mod but also tested with Diadochi Kings etc.
It derives the spread sheet data from a given mod. Technically included and accessible if you call the right class out of the CK2Tools.jar.

Just tried using the most recent version of the tool, and it seems to be totally ignoring all of my sea provinces. It does not write any of the information for them (i.e. definition.csv). I've never had this problem in the past. I don't want to blame the tool, so is there anything that might cause this?

Thanks ahead of time.

Ok sorry for being such a b**ger, but this is starting to riddle me a lot. Let me upload the links to the pictures (so this post doesn´t get invasive).

Imgur is not letting me upload the next one so I write it. Its the config.properties.txt moddirectory:

moddirectory=C: \Users\ME\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod\WrathOfTheSun

So, any idea how should I do this? tries copying the Game of Thrones .mod file and changing the content in the same configuration, then saving, but it has given me the same results running the mapfiller.

Once again, I must express my gratitude for this tool existing. It is just so good!

Thanks for the praise Charles. Means a lot coming from you :)

@AkkBar
I can't really say what you are trying to do. The .mod file is totally irrelevant for the map filler tool. It does what it does regardless of it.
It totally depends on your moddirectory being right.
My path is moddirectory=E:\\Dropbox\\_Witcher\\trunk\\MOD\\Witcher
Note the double '\' !! (The blank after Wi and before tcher is added by the paradox forums ... for no reason at all)
You also seem to have a blank after C:
Not good as well

For what it's worth, in your 2nd & 3rd links, the mod directory name is spelled WhrathOfTheSun (notice the 'h' as the 2nd letter. In the mod file itself and you description of config.properties.txt, that 'h' is not there.

Also, your 2nd link shows only 'gfx' & 'map' directorys in the mod, but your mod file 23 'replace_path' entries. You shouldn't be using 'replace_path' unless you are providing those directories yourself.

Damn! Grammar got me for two days? Now I feel ashamed :D

Hello! As directed, I am posting my question from the Map Mod Testing thread here.

Hello,

I'm just starting to learn CK2 modding, and I've been trying to create a custom map from scratch, but I'm running into a bit of a problem. I've made a simple working map before, but comparing my current files to my older(working) ones I'm not seeing what I need to change.

Basically, my terrain/river/topology etc maps seem to work, but after adding a few provinces and running the Map Filler tool CK2 crashes at "loading flags", which, if I am not mistaken, doesn't tell me anything. Resizing and using my old provinces.bmp file and running Map Filler with my old provinceDefs works fine, so I thought that my province.bmp must be the issue. Deleting all of the Map Filler-generated content and manually writing history files for one of my provinces will allow the game to launch, however, and I can re-fill my old map project and launch successfully, so I don't think I managed to break the filler. So I guess only some of my provinces are broken? I have no idea what to look for now, please help. :(

the entire mod folder: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nbfnwj9oa8hrisq/ExiledKings.zip?dl=0

I spent quite a while searching for a solution in various forum threads, so hopefully I didn't just miss something obvious >.<

I could make elaborate tests here but can't you just use a better set of spead sheet data to make this easier for all of us?
Give the provinces reasonably names. "Test" for each of them would work. Make a bunch of duchies and don't stuff them all into one duchy.

To be honest I am not really sure about the specifics of climates. If you set no winter-y provinces it might work. Or not. If this is an issue I'd need to change the climate file that it writes empty blocks for climate types that are not present on the map.

My apologies, I did not think it was important to create duchies until I could actually start the game -- I was very wrong. After sorting my provinces into duchies, I was able to narrow down the problem. Something is going wrong with the provinces in Duchy1. If I remove those provinces, everything works fine. As I had to alter the provinces map to get past a naval ranges crash, here is the mod folder again with the updated provinces.bmp and provinceDefs.

I have also tried repainting the provinces in that duchy in case I messed something up in my provinces.bmp, but the problem persists.
