Definitely a worthy showcase. Congrats, TBC!

If you read this space, then you are a supporter of the Forum, and an encourager of all who write here. But there is a means to support and encourage your fellow writers and readers that you may not be participating in.

There are only 2 weeks left to vote in the Q2 2023 AARLand Choice AwAARds. But only 9 votes have been cast so far (9 individuals have voted for at least 1 AAR).

This used to be a very active means of supporting the Forum, and encouraging writers, but it's fallen off in recent years. @Nikolai is working hard to try to keep it going, but without active participation in this effort, the Forum loses some of its vibrancy, and there's less encouragement.

YOU can help! Please go vote for your favorite AARs. It's not that hard to place a ballot. Obviouly, we'd love if you would fill a ballot for a bunch of AARs (limit 4) in each of the competitions, but I can't do that and likely neither can you. Vote for what you know, for what you read. It all helps.

Thank you!

Did you think this was the Showcase of the Month, @TheButterflyComposer? :p

Probably time to pass it on. ;)

Huh...I won this I guess...

Righto

Doesn't look like The Wars of the Roses has won yet, despite being 1000 posts long (exactly), across 60 pages of excellent writing and infuriating polticial intrigue while we live in hope for Henry Tudor to show up at the end and kill everyone.

So, back at you @coz1 . It is both a well deserved accolade, and your problem now!

I certainly did not prompt you to gain it for myself (but I'll take it!) And it has been given nod before back in May of 2021 alongside my Creek AAR of the time. In truth, it has been honored quite a bit for various things (notably both Richard of York and Margaret of Anjou on two different occasions for CWOW, and Richard even won in the Yayas.) But I shall take your challenge...or as you suggest...a problem. ;)

It IS quite long by this date and longer still of material that I have yet to post. I imagine that it is both intimidating to read and perhaps infuriating as well (with both post speed and how slowly it seems to go in that...and yes, that Margaret is still alive.) Yet I am tremendously proud of the work as I have wanted to write it for more than a decade and it is profoundly satisfying to finally get to this story. I was proud of Into the West and all of my Wessex books in CKII (four years of everyday writing) but this one may be the most challenging. It began as a response to personal trauma and got me back into writing. During these last two plus years (with more trauma included) I have been able to sustain the narrative and outline a true story as I want to tell it. I've made no secret in the work that one, I was told (by a good friend at the time) that it would not be successful due to adhering to history so closely and two, I'm going to be a pain in the ass for anyone that might wish to follow because I want to post what I write as soon as possible.

I have been immensely pleased to find so many amazing comments and followers of the work, to find these types of accolades and to keep with this project that again...I've wanted to write since at least 2007. And mostly, with all of these changes in life during these last two plus years, I still WANT to tell the story. I've gamed it out. It is plotted all the way to the end. It is THE most ambitious project that I've ever attempted. And I always hope that it is enjoyed. It is ever an honor to be singled out and I hope others might give it a look. It is at 60 pages now. And likely to be at least 60 more before I am done.

You do me great favor, @TheButterflyComposer and I thank you. And all of my readers. It is truly my pleasure to present it.

[And do you not look at the front page TBC? How could you have missed your own nod? :p]

Basically, no. Not very often.

Congratulations, @coz1. I have this on my list to delve into when I have sufficient time (as it is quite substantial).

By virtue of the subject matter alone, I expect it to be an enthralling read (said the person with the handle “The Kingmaker” unironically). ;)

@coz1 Congratulations! Definitely well deserved.

As you know, I'm attempting to power my way through this excellent and admirable work of art! I'm about 45% through, and trying very hard to continue gaining ground against your writing pace.

But it's a wonderful read, and the characters are well told, so it does keep the interest!

Thank you all and certainly once again to @TheButterflyComposer for a tremendous honor. I hope WOTR got some extra views this week (and there has been no lack of material to peruse.) However, unlike so many others, I do not wish to hold this any longer than is proper. ;)

Thus I would like to pass the Showcase onto Shining Stars - A United States Coming of Age Saga by @Rensslaer in Vic2. I've been a fan of his work since his very first AAR and the quality remains. This work is an excellent return for one of our very best writAARs and I hope others will take a look and sign on. You will not be disappointed.

Many congrats, Renss! Always well deserved. :)
