The most fascinating thing about all this, the whole thread, is that it seems like they don't care about absolutely anything we're talking here :)

And then they'll say that we just complain. Maybe the game isn't for us after all

Whaaa, nice.
It is a different game style, but I am still wondering if properties are tied to a grid. If we look at Manor Lords, that game has realistic property borders.
CS1 and CS2 also look nice, but the grid-based stuff only works in terms of realism for downtown areas in the US.
I am pretty sure it's still grid based - i think otherwise they would present a building that's not 90 degrees to the road at an official screenshot.

But for me that's okay for that game, because it's not a city builder. It's a game where your transportation network influence the developement of the cities.
I saw some gameplay of the new anno yesterday - it's still grid based which is a littel bit disappointing for me.

I truly believe they must be reading. But they must not be responding because of the wrong communication policy they decided to employ.

I posted some time ago the numbers for CS1 compared to CS2. I consider them good numbers because CS2 is a new game that came out with problems. And there is a very important thing: the hardware for CS2 is much less accessible than for CS1.

CS1 is a consolidated game, CS2 is not.

I do not think that is the case. I assume it was a PDX decision due to some communication incidents. CO's CEO made some very unfortunate statements in response to customer feedback.
Okay, we can argue that some customer feedback wasn't fair, but the main point was and still is that the marketing machine promised a lot and was very far away from reality. The difference between ads and reality was and is so big that it would require many, many bigger patches.

If you look at this forum, many people are still here and looking for positive information like me. Every few weeks, I check the forum and see if CO is working on keeping its promise. Games like Cyberpunk 2077 had a similar horrible start, but over time, after delivering patch after patch, people started to like it.

Sadly, I do not think CO is doing the same with this series. Each patch is okay, but because they deliver so few patches, I assume CO moved on to something else. A team of 20 developers should be able to do way more than this.

They're absolutely reading; and engagement isn't productive at this point. Constructive posts get 1 point, criticism/mad/upset feedback get 10 points. They've had a few updates thus far and no matter the kind of update the resounding narrative is "we continue to be frustrated." That doesn't mean players aren't happy about improvements like the difficulty mode released in March, but bad will always outweigh good, especially given the historical context of CS2's release, the promises made, etc.

So --- yeah, they're not going to post here until they absolutely have to or planned to. I think they've been fairly consistent in providing quarterly-ish long-form updates.
  1. Next update will be in June.
  2. March 2025 - https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...ay-state-of-asset-editor-and-console.1730446/
  3. November 2024 - https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...-console-modern-cities-creator-packs.1717560/
  4. September 2024 - https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/an-update-to-the-release-schedule.1703871/
This is the strategy - whether we like it or not - provide an update with news that's not going to be received well, followed by a patch that hopefully is. That's it folks. We're working on it, sorry; and, check out this patch! :)

At the end of the day, all it would take is a 'Hey guys, we hear you, don't worry, we have some exciting news coming in a few weeks' and I think that would genuinely quell a lot of people's concerns right now. No need to commit to a solid date, exact features etc. Just something to bring a little hope lol.

I don't even know if I can confidently believe the Bridges and Ports will actually come out on schedule or not anymore.

They also have been consistent since 2023 in not providing the pre-paid content , postponing it quarter after quarter, and nonetheless never stopped advertising it and selling it. Let's hope the B&P DLC release will put an end to this malpractice.

The problem is that nobody would believe that.

There have been two things which were delivered at the announced date:
the game itself
"Beach Property Pack"

Now, we know how that turned out.

But there are strong indications that they even miss the timelines for their patches - sometimes even deliberately.

At this point I wouldnt expect anything until after summer ends. Unless they want to make the mistake of releasing stuff shortly before they go on vacation. PDX should know better than let CO do that, after it bit them in the ass so many times...

Although in general I agree with you, the fact is that they HAVE to deliver the B&P DLC this quarter. And it is standard procedure to have DLCs accompanied by a patch (outstanding anyway) so we can assume the DLC and a patch in the next four weeks or so.
Until then they will most probably stay radio silent.

Do they though? It was already delayed before, what's one more delay to them? Not like they have a reputation or customer goodwill to preserve anymore....

Actually, by law in Denmark, they had to deliver that DLC as promised and no later than 3 months after they had planned it - whether they just said Q1-4 or had an actual date. It was part of their Premium package with a Q2 of 2024. Soo.. They're about 3 Qs too late now. Soo, if one wanted it's a simple complaint to the Ombudsmand and he'd crack down on 'em.
Anywho.. Game's on life support at best.. They still can't get their own asset editor to function.. The game is still in an atrocious shape even if it has improved. No reason to keep beating a dead horse, there are plenty of good games out there.
