They brought stuff to Harmony, and are now heading back home empty.
Would jt be worth it to order them to vhangr course to prevent reveal og jp?

They've been watching us use that jump point for months.

That closest group moving at 74.000 looks like a fighter wing. How many are there? Would they be the missile launch platform or are they beam armed?

Would be positive if its fighters.
Means they don't have as big a tech lead on us as initially feared.

Their engine tech is a generation ahead. But I suspect just one. Their warships have about 50-60% more speed, so it makes sense for their fighters to do the same. 50.000 kps +50% and you get 75.000 kps .

Looks about right to me.

Ah.
I thought nprs only could start 20% ahead, though.

20% ahead in tech is quite a substantial number of research points. And each generation gets roughly 50% faster.

What percentage of our total fleet is in that system?
Half? Not sure.

I took those 78,000 kps objects to be incoming missiles. We see them only on Thermal.

So think they might be fighters?
Would thst mean they've not declared wat after all?

I still think they're missiles, not Fighters.

Why would Fighter be divided into small groups of seven or eight?

Missiles are launched in salvos, though. And it would look just like this.

Fair point. I'm mixing up our 30.000 kps fighters up with the 50k assault shuttles. Silly.

NPRs don't use fighters. They will use them in the next update, Steve finally added that feature.
Curious why they'd not use fighters.
Seems a curious thing to not have available to them.

Well, the answer to that seems to be "because it took time and effort to program".

Aurora ship designs can't just be thrown together willy-nilly.. Fighters are very much tailored to their launch platform. You want to maximize how many you can fit into a carrier and whether the carrier needs magazines and how much space is dedicated to that depends on whether they carry missiles and how many. Which means you can't just pick any old carrier design, you need to select a doctrine and adhere to that.

Finally more-or-less completed configuring the mixed fleet to fight off missiles.

I'll try to play a few turns today.

This is the sort of thing I've been working on... setting up each ship's fire controls to command specific weapons to enter particular modes (mostly Point Defense modes at the moment), and distributing fire patterns so that hopefully each incoming enemy salvo will be engaged by enough PD weapons to shoot it down or at least reduce the effect.

You might think "surely the ships have all taken part in previous battles?", but each time they are upgraded all the weapon fire control info becomes obsolete, since it then refers to fire controls and guns that are no longer part of the ship's design, or to missiles that are no longer carried.

Anyway... that's what I'm working on.

Currently flying off the new RADAR-equipped Fighters that the Mountain-class Tender brought to Harmony, and distributing one to each strike group... which requires sending one strike-fighter from each Carrier back to the Mountain to make room in the hangar for the new AWACS Fighter.

Last minute Fighter re-assignments (with the missiles actually on-the-way-in!) in order to spread out those RADAR-equipped Fighters one per squadron.

Naturally that requires pulling one missile-equipped Fighter OUT of each squadron, on order to make room in the hangar for the new addition.

The AWACS-Fighters were only produced after the fleet arrived in the Harmony star system, so they had to be ferried out here in a Mountain-class Tender.
