Make sure to save them 7ntil all wrecks are done and qreck data returned, as those can give plant data too.We're saving all the Engines aside until we have all the Power Reactors dismantled first... because Power Reactors can only give Power Plant tech, while Engines can give EITHER that tech or Gas Core Engine tech.
What might we learn from those autopsies?With all the wrecks that we've recovered, we naturally found plenty of dead Modron bodies.

I think so.Is it worth while switching our AMM-PD to size 1.3? The ability to recognize decoys and focus on the real threats would be quite valuable.
I think awacs is warranted as spies might be in the opposite end of our Reich when we need them. Having dedicated awacs to go with emotions seems good. Especially if they also have much longer ranges sensors. As iiirc the spies at times had trouble keeping track of thr fast moving foes.As for your question: Tankers can be left to the fleet train I imagine. Plus strategic fuel dumps.
AWACS -- well, I think the spies are doing an excellent job there. It's nice as a backup strategy mind because it's so damn important and it can have a much larger sensor than a small stealth vessel. So it does have value.

Unfortunately our shields are limited to 480 hit points by our tech level. So a ship that was all shield would still be no tougher than a Winged Hussar or Hoplite.So I was thinking, how reasonable would a fast shield-bearer ship be, that does basically nothing else?
