While Odoacer could restore him as a puppet in return for an improvement in relations with the eastern empire having Julius Nepos restored and Dalmatia annexed to the west seems the best form for the event to take. He was restored in a legalistic sense in that solidii carried his portrait rather than that of Zeno. It would have been unlikely that Odoacer would have gone further. If Julius was restored as a puppet the Germanic forces only numbered in the thousands could have been ejected with little effort by the senatorial class with help from the east. So restoring Julius Nepos if the empire does not end in the west seems good. That is probably what would have happened anyway. Romulus Augustulus was a usurper and Julius Nepos was supported in his bid for restoration by the east.
I notice that the unplayable China has a tech level of zero. Declaring war on a player allows the exploration of his territory without the prerequisite technology. China should have the same technology level as Persia and some other method be found to make it passive except in defence. Otherwise a player controlling Persia has a huge advantage in that China is in essence there for a taking.

A conversion event for a Pictish King like Nectan Morbeth (462-486) might be an idea. There is a strong possibility that the Pictish kingdom was divided around 528 and that Galbran of Dal Riada took much of its southern territory sometime in the decades after that. One notably good Pictish ruler was Bridei, son of Maelgwn, ruler of North Wales though with a Pictish grandmother. The Picts elected this outsider in 554 on account of his power. Initially he only ruled the northern Pictish territory but Rhun, ruler of north Wales sent a huge army to the Forth crushing the southern Pictish ruler and allowing Bridei to defeat Dal Riada in 560. Bridei was baptised in the eight year of his reign making the Christian direction of earlier rulers definitive.

Whoever is researching the Pictish kings probably knows much of this already but I provide this information in case of any uncertainties.
