Updated the download. Let me hear (read) what you think about the the new land and naval tech. And what to do about the Avars? I'm happily unaware of how they should be in the beginning, north of Persia, east of Altyn Oba or all the way between Persia and Altyn Oba? Or appear as a revolter in Altyn Oba. And is there anyone with some knowledge of India? I'm quite sure that Pallava is to big.

CTD in Scenario

Lofman,

I've been following this thread (i redownload the scenario whenever you update the download) and now i get a CTD as the Western Roman Empire between march and may (don't know the exact dates, no time to write them down). i tried to play past this period about 5-6 times and i get a CTD every time. Also, when i go to adjust the dp sliders, when i go to adjust the land/naval slider, the "by moving towards land, you will get the following stats" list, which shows what settings will change, between production efficiency and trade efficiency is "UNKNOWN STRING WANTED"; what change is represented by this? I hope you or one of the other people working on this scenario know what i'm talking about, as i don't know all the terms to describe these problems. I also have a few suggestions regarding the west roman empire, is this thread the best place to propose ideas?

Gaius Marius I: I don't know what's causing the CTD. :( Do you use the betas? If so the UNKNOWN STRING WANTED may be because of some change regarding that slider from standard 1.07 whose text isn't found in the text.csv (which is from standard 1.07 ), maybe. Post your suggestions here.

King Jary: The download is in the thread named 476-Scenario in the forum for uploading and downloading scenarios. The thread is a bit down on the page since I only edited the first message.

Events - Dyfnain

NOTE: 'Against the Tide?' gives a human Dyfnain the opportunity to 'be' Arthur at the cost of awaking the horrible 'Camlann' event. Other than this Arthur will not figure in the scenario. If you don't want even the possibility, feel free to drop both events.

Not MORE petty kingdoms

Stop me if this is getting out of hand - it would bring the number of tags necessary for the British Isles alone up to 16 - but how would you feel about adding

Pengwern (Midlands, British)
Eoganachta (Munster)
Calchvynydd (Bristol, British)

Arthur, incidentally, would then become a Calchvynydd leader.

I played this scenario as the Franks, from (1)476 - (1)530-ish, it looks good.
A few things... you should really limit the number of colonists and missionaries as I saw the Visigoth empire making the pagan basque to arianism german, you could at least switch the order of cultures to let the new provinces become the hispanian one...

I noticed that you lacked events for Wei, as I've made a few for the Rise of Christianity Scenario (0-500 AD), I have some covering 476-500. I'll post them soon...

Hmm, there were only two events... :(
Code:
[COLOR=silver]
event = {
	id = 100404
	trigger = {
		owned = { province = 1564 data = -1 }
		monarch = 15176
	}
	random = no
	country = MCH
	name = "The move to Luoyang"
	desc = "In 494 emperor Xiao Wen Di moved the capital to Luoyang, a place that has long been the Chinese capital, and he adopted the Chinese family name Yuan."
	style = 1
	date = { day = 1 month = january year = 494 }
	deathdate = { day = 1 month = january year = 500 }

	country = MCH
	name = "Merchants in Luoyang"
	desc = "The end of the chaos in northern China attracted many merchants, especially from inner asia. The center of merchanting was, of course, the capital, Luoyang."
	style = 1

IMHO, there should reallt be a CoT in Henan, if you want, you can make the second event open a new CoT, and reduce the added tax to 0 or 1. As my scenario ended in 500, the enddate for the events are... 500... change at your desire...

According to this map:
mapWei.JPG

(from this site)
The capital should be in Pincheng (could be Hohhot province, 1561), which is Shanxi province (1563).

Speaking of CoTs, I don't believe the pre-Viking British Isles should get one at all. Instead there should be one around Dorestad and/or perhaps in the region of Bordeaux. If we were able to continue into the C9, CoTs might appear in York and/or Dublin but that time is not yet come.

I wouldn't mind adding them. The more the merrier :) .

And Kaigon, your Wei events look nice.;) Maybe a description for the first one would be nice. ;)

It could be something like this:

name = "The move to Luoyang"
desc = "In 494 emperor Xiao Wen Di moved the capital to Luoyang, a place that has long been the Chinese capital, and he adopted the Chinese family name Yuan."

This is from the site (is this allowed?:confused:?)

There are no problem in editing the religion to make what you want, and IMHO, we can't afford to use up another religion-slot to represent Shia-Sunni conflicts...

What are you going to do with the CRC-religion Lofman?

Generika

Here are some suggestions for Anglo-Saxon generic leaders and army names - suitable for Kent, Wessex, East Anglia, Mercia, Northumbria.

Armies: Heorthgeneatas [hearth-companions], Dryhtnes Gesithas [lord's comrades], Micel Here [great army], Lytel Here [lesser army], Sibbgedryht [company], Cyninges Werod [king's comitatus], Aethelinges Hird [aetheling's retainers], Westsexena Fyrd, Myrcna Fyrd, Nordhanhymbrisc Fyrd, Cantwarena Fyrd, East Englisc Fyrd, Eastsexena Fyrd, Cilternsaetna Fyrd, Suthsexena Fyrd, Mide Englisc Fyrd, Westerna Fyrd

Leaders: Wulfstan, Coenhelm, Cwichelm, Beaduheard, Cuthred, Eadmund, Aethelbald, Wulfnoth, Saeberht, Sigeberht, Aethelberht, Nothhelm, Wilfrede, Ingeld, Swaefheard, Wynfrith, Ceolfrith, Aethelheard, Cynewulf, Cynegils, Beorhtric, Sigeric, Osrede, Oswulf, Oswald, Osric, Osberht, Oswine, Godric, Godrede, Guthmund, Eanberht, Eanrede, Uhtred, Aethelweard, Hereweard, Heremod, Beorhthelm, Ealfwold, Hun, Burhrede, Cenwulf, Eata, Basa, Wiglaf, Wocca, Eadrede, Aethelstan, Eadgar, Eadweard, Aethelrede, Aelle, Wihtrede, Eadwine, Odda, Frithuwald, Lilla, Wulfrun, Willeuhad, Aethelwulf, Aelfrede

I'll have to speak with m'learned friends to get the equivalent for Celtic nations, though here's some generic 'British' names:

Cadoc, Petroc, Iago, Idwal, Rhodri, Ceretic, Cadell, Hywel, Macsen, Coel, Rhydderch, Merfyn, Cynfyn, Bleddyn, Rhiwallon, Anarawd, Owain, Maredudd, Condidan, Custennin, Dumhgert, Llywelyn, Gruffydd, Beli, Rhun, Artgal, Llywarch, Peredur, Gereint, Erbin, Gwyrthefyr

Picts...

Dubh, Gartnait, Drust, Talorgan, Nechtan, Bruidhe, Bridei, Bili, Albin, Cinaid, Onuist, Maelchon, Cinioch, Constantin, Oengus etc

and Bretons...

Nominoe, Salomon, Conan, Alan, Erispoe, Dinan etc etc

require separate lists I think, but the above will suffice for S'clyde, Gododdin, Rheged, Gwynedd, Dyfnain, Calchvynydd and Pengwern.

I finally brought my download up to date. Great stuff :cool:

Suggestion: Rename 'Atlas' to 'Awraba'. Then we could have some Kusaila-related coolness when Islam reaches the region.

Incidentally, 'Glasgow' should be 'Alcluyd'. The city in Lothian should be 'Dunedin'. Gododdin, not Northumbria should rule Northumberland in 476. Rheged shouldn't be allied with Northumbria.

'The Highlands' begin still pagan.

I've changed my mind about the name of Midlands' city, btw. It should be 'Lichfield', not 'Tamworth'.

It's only a shame events can't rename cities, then we could have Gloucester, Chester and Lichfield start as Caer Gliw / Caer Corinn, Caerleon and Caer Luetcoet / Uricon respectively. But as it is I'd rather start them off already under the English spellings as that is how they ended up.

Incidentally, starting relations for the Eoganachta will be identical to Lagin's - cool towards their Irish rivals, Dyfnain and Gwynedd - except that Lagin and Eoganachta begin at -50 to each other. Pengwern's relations are those of Gwynedd, Calchvynydd's those of Dyfnain except that both are at -25 between each other as well as with Gwynedd and Dyfnain :) Add Pengwern to Mercia's kill list and Calchvynydd to Wessex's, but remove Gwynedd from Mercia's.

matters arising

For some reason, no nationalism appeared in Midlands / East Anglia when annexed by Mercia. Saxony (!) annexed Kent too but there was no revolt risk. Can't think why. Has it got something to do with paganism?

I think the 'Dyrham' event should be twiddled to fire no earlier than 550. (It's supposed to INCREASE your stability, by the way.)

Would it be possible to winterise the whole British Isles and perhaps the whole continent above the Alps and the Rhone watershed? Although winters were actually milder this period, it was much harder to keep a warband army in the field from one year to the next.

Here follows the beginnings of Gwynedd's king list.
