Hive when was the current Norwegian flag adopted? It says 1821 on a site I found? If Norway becomes independent in the Scenarios after 1821 is there any way I can make the flag and shield the modern one?

Also a bug maybe? In the 1861 scenario you can select Norway but Norway is owned by Sweden so the game crashes.

Yeah it's possible to make it the modern one. Go into the save and find Norway. After the line tag = NOR, you add flagname = "1821".

That should do the trick.

Oh, and yes - the 1861 thing is indeed a bug. Though luckily not an important one.

But one problem that will occur: what about religion, then? If their capital is in France, AI will stay catholic...

I don't see the connection -the AI will decide which religion to follow based upon all it's provinces (I suspect combined tax value of all provinces per religion) with *perhaps* a slight "bonus" for the capital..

it is certainly not a decision purely based on the capital.

1337

Hive, I played your 1337 scenario up to 1419 with Lithuania (forming the great Pagan empire. :) ). I see what you mean about the few events, although it was interesting to be getting so many leaders. Neat. I have a book I like to use, a yearly history of the millenium, put out by Time in 2000 I believe. Some ideas for events (I've only started), they are not in any particular order.

1339 (Muscowy) - Kremlin construction started
1341 (Brittany) - War over Brittany succession
1345 (Flanders) - Assassination of ruler, Flanders exits the HYW
1341 (Ottoman) - RM with Byzantium
1343 (Vijayanagara) - Ruler begins overhaul of infrastructure.
1345 (Aztecs) - Tenochtitlan settled, Aztecs end mercenary lifestyle
1346 (Tuscany+Lombardi) - Italian banks collapse due to English renegging on debt
1346 (HRE) - Lewis of Bavaria deposed as HRE by Pope, still supported by HRE nations
1346 (Byzantium) - Earthquake in constantinople
1347 (Various) - Black death arrives in Genoa, Sicily, Southern Italy
1348 (Various) - Black death arrives in Pisa, Venice, Toulouse, Lyon, Spain, England
1348 (Bohemia) - University of Prague founded
1349 (Various) - Black death reaches Germany, Brittanny
1349 (Frankfurt, Mainz, Cologne) - Flaggellents appease god by rituals, jews driven out (settle in Poland), Pope finally bans flaggellents.
1347 (Crimea area) - Black death arrives
1345 (Russia, GH) - Black death arrives in East
1346 (Byzantium, Ottomans) - Black death arrives
1350 (Grenada) - Gibralter under siege (indicating perhaps Granada should still own this province in 1337)
1353 (Helvetia) - Berne joins the cantons
1344 (China) - Yellow river floods, destroying 17 walled cities, causes famine
1351 (China) - Damn project started to protect Hejin salt works and Grand Canal
1351 (China) - Red turbans rebel in northern China
1353 (Florence) - Decameron written to cheer Italy during Plague
1356 (HRE) - Electors at this time: Archbishops (Trier, Cologne, Mayence), Rulers (Bohemia, Palitinat, Sax-Wittenberg, Brandenberg), pope loses elector status.
1352 (Morocco) - Ibn Battuta explores far and wide, throughout North Africa, and the Sahara, travels to Mali
1353 (Ilkhanate) - Mongol Persia regime begins its rapid collapse.
1350 (Bohemia) - Prague becomes capital of HRE.
1356 (HRE) - Hanseatic league forms
1358 (France) - Jacquerie rebels in France (accused of murder, rape, and cannabalism)
1363 (Castile) - Rival claim to throne of Castile backed by Aragon

Anyway, is that helpful? I only went from 1338-1350, there's certainly more up throughout the period. Would it help if I wrote up some events? I'd like my modding skills to be used for something that someone might use.

Wow, that's an impressive list. It's hard to judge the usefullness of the events by just the titles, but I imagine that I would be able to use many of them.

So if you want to create some, that would be cool.

Especially black death events are lacking, but I just didn't have the time to do them for this release...

Bug: The nation which uses the KAL tag that lives in Iraq area is named... Union of Kalmar! I think you forgot to change the name ;).

Yes that is indeed a bug, and I have fixed it for the next patch already. It was reported to me on icq. But thanks for noticing. :)

Though it's only partially my fault, partially Paradox's fault for creating the KAL inc file in the first place... long story. :D

Maybe you could write some events for American Civil War firing after capturing specified provinces? I mean Union after capturing the most important states and biggest resistance points should annex CSA and CSA after capturing the most important Union's states should inherit USA, change to USA tag and fire the event making dpslider changes due to slavery and everything?

No, I don't like such events. But if you want to play with that kind of events; it's already made. A couple of enthusiastic souls made those additions to my mod, check out the old "American Civil War" thread started by me. :)

Though USA *will* inherit CSA if they control all CSA core provinces. But of course, that can be a problem if those provinces aren't actually owned by CSA but maybe by some colonial power.. but eh, it's roughly the best I could do.

I don't see any reason why CSA should inherit USA, though. USA fought to annex CSA, not vice versa. CSA merely fought to exist.

Yeah, IRL CSA fought for independence to keep the slavery and to represent differences between South and North. But if in game because of incredible AI or player's intervention CSA would be far more powerful that Union, they could inherit USA.

Not in this mod, mister! :p
