-Why don´t you include Paraguay too? The Paraguay war (also known as The War of Triple Alliance) was the biggest conflict in Latin America in the 1800´s.
-And maybe Taiping China?

Simply because the AoN didn't include Paraguay. I therfore have no info on leaders, monarchs and stuff.

Maybe I should include Taiping, they are after all fairly important. I have also been thinking about including a Mongolia nation above China.

The only problem is that I only have 1 free tag (which is U14, I remove The 2 Sicilies) - so I'll have to slash some native Americans - or maybe another African nation (I have already removed both Xhosa and Dahomey). Hmmm.... now I'm thinking about it, maybe I'll remove the nation I replaced Dahomey with = Leon. They hadn't existed for ages when EU2 starts, so I just may remove them + 1 NA Indian nation.

-It is not difficult to include Paraguay, they had very few presidents from their independence to the Paraguay War (I think there were only 3, not very sure). To have Paraguay is more important than some Central America Nations you put, given the importance of Paraguay war in the history of South America.
-Another question. How will you manage industrialization, which is not modelled in EU2?

Good question. This is one of the few things I haven't done yet, and I'm still not quite sure how to do it. But basically, I think I'll create some random events that increases tax value in some provinces, and maybe in some cases give a few manufactories and give some ducats to infrastructure and trade research.

The real question is: What should the triggers be for such an event? Should I only make them nation specific - eg. only for nations like England, USA, Germany, France, Japan (after the Meiji restoration) and such?
Or should I make them triggered for countries with latin tech only - thereby allowing nations like Spain to get them as well?
Or should I connect the to some domestic sliders also, like maybe innovative and serfdom?
Suggestions?

EDIT: About Paraguay, I would still need monarchs, leaders, events and most important: shields and graphics. But basically, I don't have a lot of events for South America. I would like more, but it will have to wait until the next release. I am working to have a version ready for download soon.

-I don´t know how to do with industrialization, since it represented a big leap forward for Western countries, who, until 1750, were not better than their Asian counterparts. It allowed things like steam ships and railways, which can´t be modelled in the game. And some commodities become more important too (coal, for instance). I feel EU2 is not adequate for those events, since they could need changes in hardcoded variables. Despite this, I feel you are working in a potentially good addition to EU2. I will see if I can help you with some South America (particularly Brazil) events. Lots of civil wars in the early 1800´s....

-Good events to start. Brazil gained its independency in 1822, so should you have a nation creation event in 1822? And a "Portuguese court transfers to Brazil" in 1808?
-Another events:
-Pedro I resigns (around 1829-not sure)
-Revolts in the 1830-40´s
-Cabanada (Pará)
-Farrapos (Rio Grande do Sul-10 year long war)
-There was another revolution in Maranhão too (don´t remeber)
-Regencies (when Pedro I resigned, his soon was only 5 years old)
-Pedro II majority (replace the current monarch-regent with Pedro II)
-Interventions in Uruguay and Argentina-how to deal with them?
-Paraguay war (linked to intervention in Uruguay Civil War)

-I´m still studying how to make events, so I can´t help you too muc.

I already have a event for Portugal to move the court to Brazil - but it only triggers if they are at war with France. And naturally, I have an event that moves it back to good old Lisbon later on.

I also have a Portuguese event that creates Brazil (if they choose to, that is).

But all in all, my South American history knowledge is pretty limited. If you can write the event text and tell me what you want the events to do, I can script them. No problem.

That's okay, from sunday and some days forward I won't be online anyway. Take your time.:)

I will try to complete a beta version of the mod in the period I am not online, but if you could help me with some events for my next release that would be great. If you give me your e-mail adress I can send you all the South American (also Latin American, if you want) I have, so you don't make any of them. Also, if you think some of my events are not totally accurate, let me know.;)

I am currently polishing the last few details before uploading AoI beta 1 to the EU2 - User made scenarios and mods forum at tomorrow evening the latest.

But remember: it's still just a beta!

Here is an updated list on the country changes I have made:

New countries:
U00 = Cuba
U01 = Hawaii

Countries I plan (or at least consider) to add:
Paraguay
Mongolia
Taiping
Firenze - although not important for the game, I would like Firenze to replace Tuscany until the latter is historically formed. There were no nation called 'Tuscany' in 1419, but it is of course a minor issue.

Countries I plan (or at least consider) to remove:
Most North American native countries.
Other native countries in Africa and Asia that are not important to the game (like Zulu or similar).

Looking good.

Thanx.:)

I actually had a blast last night fighting playing USA through the Civil War. I purposely let CSA revolt, and it was actually a challenge to defeat them. Nice.

My last major obstacle is industrialization. I just can't agree with myself on how to the events. That is, I know what I want the events to do - but I don't know which countries I would like to have events yet... the easiest thing would be to make some random events that can occur for all latin tech nations - but would it be correct for Spain, Portugal and Italy to get such events? Did they really industrialize back then? Creating seperate events for each country (including all of HRE!) is just not something I'm up for...;)

Still working on the industrialization events, so I'm afraid the release will be a bit delayed... I'm working on having it done today though, as I have the day off.

I am going to upload AoI Beta 1 now. But I have not included industrialization events as they need further thinking. Hope you can do without them for now.;)

Feel free to post comments and suggestions on how to improve the mod.

A very quick comment:

The forum accepts files up to 10mb (Havard's rules are wrong), and your best bet for including exe and rar files (so people don't have to rename) is to put them in a ZIP file.

(and congratulations on finally 'finishing' it :)!)

Really? Ah crap... then I could just have put it in a zip file, it took me some time to get the partition right...
