I still think it is Beer Brewer 2015, but who cares?

Johan cares! Johan is a good, decent person! Johan will listen to our weeps and cries and tears of terror and one day, great things he will create!

Why does everyone in this thread suddenly have a PhD in haircuts? Just wondering. :D
-Wonderlego PhD in Dumb Humor

I don't have PhD about it, but I have actually read couple of academic articles about the different kinds of monastic tonsures. Does that count?

Slightly pointed ears... and those eyebrows... is that a Vulcan?

But please consider the Paradox staff reading this, thinking "What have we done?!". Think of all those tears, streaming down the young and eager faces of developers who have put their heart into making this piece of art. Imagine the sad face Johan makes, when reading your comments. Do you really want a sad Johan?

I suppose that's true but we want our Rome successor. I think people aren't totally serious too (i'm not) just disappointed. We also have no details about the game to hype me up leaving me with this thing i didn't wish for and i have no real reason to like. Then i reject it's existance. I will probably start caring again when paradox gives me a clear reason to care about Augustus.

This is Paradox's biggest issue with a sci fi game. They need to have a interesting, immersive lore which is a hard thing to do.Even the might of Firaxis could not do it with Beyond Earth.

They didn't try. Beyond Earth is a Civ spin-off, it doesn't really focus on lore. It's just Earth, all went wrong, these are the nations of the future.

OTOH Endless Legend has a pretty great lore (it looks like high fantasy, but if you delve deep in said lore you could notice it's a kind of sci-fi, what passes for magic is nanotechnology and there are robots) and was made by a little french studio.

What if it is a space game, but with ancient Mediterranean civilizations? :D *Roman Space Marines fighting against Greek elves intensifies*

And I ain't joking, I would ACTUALLY like that.

But any grand strategy space game with characters will be good for me, although I can't deny that I was hoping for a game set in the Hellenistic period.

This screenshot could easily be one of many possible portraits available in a character creation mechanic, which doesn't really points towards either space or antiquity era game, IMO.

Okay this looks old, and coupled with other hints this game may be a fantasy/sci-fi steampunk like game in space?

Or more likely its just a space game and this hint was meant to throw us off whilst being vaguely relevant.

While I agree with you on the endless series, Those games were 4X's which don't really need to do a lot to make the lore "deep" for their game. A paradox style GSG on the other hand would need a lot more development and seeings as PDS has never done that before, it worries me a bit.Still if they attempt a space GSG I'm sure they will do all they can to make interesting. Though I would have still preferred a Rome game.

Besides the point, that the hairstlye don't fit into the ancient era...

Did anyone actually check if this is maybe a picture of an old game and only a hint and not part of the new game ?

o_O

*dramatic music*

Is this a possibility ?

Your opinion will matter when you complete your final hair thesis.

Seriously (not really) though, on Friday everyone had PhDs in the Dev's dreams. Then everyone went to grad school for hair over the weekend. I need to check what everyone is enrolled in tonight and maybe I can deduce tomorrow's hint.

That was my point FFS. It's obviously based in the future so it's dumb that the "monitor effect" makes it look like an 80s monitor. That doesn't make any sense for something set in the future.
If it's based on a specific setting, then they have to follow the setting. If that's their choice, then it comes down to a question "how to make something look like a screen/holographic projection?" and they came up with that. Personally it makes me wonder how I would approach the task. Perhaps a faint "glow" or "shine" effect for screen? In case of a holographic projection changing color to something monothematic could work. Or making it look foggy/not sharp (to suggest a particle effect of the technology used to create projection that's thrown off by the wind).

It does for Legion and slaves...?

They had shaved hair... yes. But I highly doubt a Slave or legionar would have such a hairstyle like this guy. Short shaved and combed hair? This guy don't really looks like a slave or legionar for me.
