"Wage war against barbarians and fight for power in the senate. Defeat your enemies and become emperor. Make all other nations kneel before the might of Rome..................................................................................................IN SPACE!"
I hope it is like Dune, Foundation, Battletech, Gundam, or legend of galactic heroes. Human focused retro sci-fi with political intrigue.

I'm reading a lot about people being disappointed with the (most probable) setting: 'space'.
But please consider the Paradox staff reading this, thinking "What have we done?!". Think of all those tears, streaming down the young and eager faces of developers who have put their heart into making this piece of art. Imagine the sad face Johan makes, when reading your comments. Do you really want a sad Johan?
I say: This is very exciting and though it's not what I hoped it to be (which would be a modern 2000 setting), I will still look very much forward to it. So far I haven't played a PDS game which wasn't fun and I'm sure this one will be awesome as well.
I'm so excited about the direction they'll choose. I think concentrating on politics and technology is a great choice (especially politics, as this is where PDS-games shine).
Gooooo Paradox!
That was my point FFS. It's obviously based in the future so it's dumb that the "monitor effect" makes it look like an 80s monitor. That doesn't make any sense for something set in the future. My guess is they aim for a style that fits a setting they plan to use. Or they just want to give it a retro style...
Pretty sure that's because they came out back when retro wasn't retro and was actually in style.Well...considering a lot of 'space' TV shows are retro...
I can already imagine them doing the presentation of the game:
"Hi guys and girls, welcome to the presentation of our new game!"
*hype intensifies*
"It is called.... ROME!"
*screaming and rejoicing*
*1 minute later, after there is calm again*
"Just a joke. The real game is Candy Crusher, exlusive on WindowsPhone."
