To me it looks like an image from a retro game ... 1980's, 1990's ? Commodore 64 ?
Looks like 1973 to first colonization of Mars. (2073?)

Poenic looking guy standing next to old cracked pillar... should be referring to relationship between modern world and Sumer-Punic legacy. Note that Poenic and Hebrews has same linguistic common ancestor

Poenic might immigrated to Israel after Poenic wars. Hebrews were not merchant. Merchantalism should been adopted from someone.

Well this was pointless...

Well maybe we need to look at it from another angle.

Lines confirmed.

Shaved hair isnt really that new of an idea... Roman Legionaries often shaved their hair to keep people like the gauls from trying to grab their hair... and Roman slaves also commonly shaved their hair, too.

Yeah, but the style of it still seems very post 1920-ish to modern day. And that chap isn't a roman legionary.

Yep, the details in that picture suggest it is some Space game.

Well, the chance to sell a Rome game to those who were still disappointed with Total War: Rome 2 has been pretty much squandered now.
But I'm sure that people will flock to buy "generic space setting n. 5372876387562" just as well, right? Right?

although i still think it is a space game. i find it interesting that the sky behind the character is blue. suggesting to me at least that hey is on earth and this give more credence to a historical/modern game.

That lad looks semitic to you?

I don't know why everyone is basing time period on hairstyle. Afterall, some CK2 Celtic portraits out of context would have you think it was a star wars or LOTR Game based on hairstyles.

Guys, it's a basketball game.

The only company with the budget to make a game to make up for the disappointment of Total War Rome 2 is Creative Assembly.

I'm incredibly excited to see what the new franchise is, if it's space so be it, all I know is that the best Grand Strategy Game designers in the industry are working on it, so whether you're into the space theme or not, it's absolutely worth waiting to see what Paradox do next.

Nobody ever hinted it would be Rome, maybe they didn't want to fill the void of those disappoint with Rome 2, maybe they want to fill the void of those disappointed with Beyond Earth, maybe they wanted to fill the void of those disappointed with Hitman Absolution, Peggle 2.

Maybe they just want a change, the employees of Paradox are only human after all, a lot of fans seem to want them to just churn out historical grand strategy forever, but knowing my own job, years of doing the same thing over and over, however exciting, makes you lose drive and passion for whatever you're doing. I imagine the idea of doing space game, or just anything different, is good for the company.

EDIT: Also, there's a lot of casual racism being thrown around in this thread.

Funk in Space.

The first true blaxploitation game.

In all seriousness, although personally I don't think it's an antiquity game and I think it's much more likely it's a space game, I wouldn't say that his haircut is 100% non ancient.

It looks rather plain to me.

It's either space or a time travel EPIC in which you control a band of TIME TRAVELERS who go back to times ANTIQUITY and take over a country, re-purposing it for then own ends as a TIME TRAVELER HOLIDAY RESORT IN ROME!

(Read the caps stuff in the generic movie trailer voice)
