I am annoyed they are bi pedal. Why not something else. This is supposed to be aliens and not humans; aliens needn't have evolved to be bi pedal and have arms.

For instance. My point being that it breaks immersion if most aliens are essentially humans with a strange face like it so often is seen.
 
That's disappointing. I was hoping that Paradox space game would at least have Space Nazis and Space Soviets.

They would be part of the human phenotyp.... think Nazis and Soviets are humans... but i'm not sure.
 
I just really hope that bug people will be female, I mean not just the Queen type, but all workers/soldiers are biologically female in most hive minded insect species. I do worry because so many games get this wrong, and have one Queen and the rest male
 
As a botanical enthusiast I would be really keen on a plantlike race!

I kind of want to play as the Supox and Ur-Quan in my games...

Maybe we get more possible phenotypes per DLC? Like the face packs for CK. :)

There is nothing stopping you from having two civilisations of the same species which are radically different in culture and ethics.

Yes, they would fall under human phenotype. Personally I was hoping that there would be more of these human phenotypes than just one, because I don't care much about fantasy races. When I heard that it's going to be a space game, I hoped that it would at least have the historical factions. I had a vision about a game where DPRK's glorious space armada could defeat the fleets of the US imperialist wolves etc.

Nazis and Commies are not phenotypes nor species. They are ideologies.

Naturally there was also an ethnic implication, not just political. When I mentioned Nazis I also meant people who would fit into the various West European phenotypes and when I talked about Soviets I meant people who would fit into the various East European phenotypes.

But aren't the "female" drones asexual? So wouldn't they just be androgynous, not visibly Female or Male?

No. Avian people is one phenotype. Human people another one. Etc. etc.

In ants they are very asexual, but with some female traits, however bees are much more pronounced in female traits. I would be happy with androgynous with female pronouns though, still way better than a patriarchal bug race

From what i understand you have the 7 phenotypes or archtypes. Avian is one of them. In game PDS then has numerous subraces with their own style of portraits etc. So there might be 20 subraces for the Avian phenotype. Each subrace could be modelled after a different bird type. Penguin, Pterodactyl, Eagle, Random avian species 1-7 etc.
 
Will two races with the same phenotype have identical looks?

Like, say, Vulcanians and Romulans?

What constitute a species will probably be the genetics traits and ethical traits you pick, which will make your avian species different from the other avians. And it probably be evolving over time and branch out into different ones as you play the game.
