i beg to differ actually, many actually have done so or at least removed him from any possibly line of succession.

Well, I am pretty sure that this was right out of the mind of any mentally fit non-crazed medieval noble (and I am sure any mother and father throughout history
) who actually tried hard to strive for an undisrupted line of succession with the more male heirs the better.
Of course there were murder, even within families, but all those were of other reason and mainly politically motivated (fief dispute, rebellious child etc).
