Essos is a patchwork of various Mediterranean/Middle East/Indian subcontinent cultures, really, much like how Westeros is a patchwork of Central/Northern Europe. The Slavers Bay is Carthage+Barbary states, Qarth is something like Constantinople + Baghdad.

I wouldn't say Westeros is only Central / Northern Europe.

Dorne is an extreme example, being basically an arabic state, but the Reach, the Stormlands and the Kinglands look more mediterranean when it comes to the weather. Even the Riverlands... at some point Catelyn mentions the gentle warm rain at Riverrun, implying that it's never really cold there, compared to the cold harsh rain of Winterfell.

I always thought of Westeros as a bit similar to the Carolingian empire, many climates with a relatively common culture/religion, all under feudalism. The Iron Throne is maybe a bit of a political creation, also like the Carolingian empire, and I wouldn't be surprised if it breaks up into different kingdoms at some point.

Dorne/the North are both somewhat distant culturally, and isolated geographically. The Vale is also isolated geographically, and the Westerlands and Stormlands are both somewhat isolated. With central authority declining very rapidly I could see a permanent stalemate occurring, with various kings setting up their own distinct and independent kingdoms by the end of the novels, no one power strong enough to unite all the rest, especially if Dany or her dragons die.

Will you add the Sparrows as a Faith of the Seven heresy?

Yeah, even though it's not exactly cannon, adding a few heresies to the game would make for some interesting gameplay options; especially with Essos & SoA inbound.

Edit: Just thought of another name for a FotS Heresy, the "True" Faith of the Seven, practiced by those Andals who remained in Essos.

Some, but the wincest "fix" really takes the life out of the game.

Good thing is, people can always mod in special events for love affairs between close kinsmen.

Plus, it'll be bypassed by the divine blood mechanic. Even though you wont fall in love with your sister using vanilla mechanics, it hasn't been hardcoded so that you can't do it even with new events in place.

Next version should be released in a month. A few days ago they posted a dev diary.

Mod is alive and well.

Wish whoever was in charge of the project was much betetr at getting these dev diaries in the spotlight, its nowhere to be found in the first page or their forums.. Atm if you casually read the forums the mod looks to be in complete disarray and abandonment

I'm sure we can omit that particular fix :)

What forum are you looking at? There is an stickied-index of dev diarys right at the top of the forum.
