I am having amnesia, I think. When an infantry general has the option to choose the trait Infantry Expert (+10% infantry attack) or Ambusher (Max Entrenchment +5 and Recon Bonus While Entrenched +25%) is there a consensus on which one is a better choice, or is neither a good choice? I have been choosing Infantry Expert out of habit and now cannot remember why I have been doing it.

Perhaps, because extra entrenchment you would get will net same attack bonus as the other option, but won't be as reliable?

Hi all,
Please could someone explain to me how I can design a Schnorkel-equipped submarine in these recent builds ?
Looks like my sub engineering design doesn't allow me to do it, though i did research it of course.
What am I missing here plz ?

You have to use a model of submarine that allows for a snorkel to be fit into it. Which is sub 3, sub 4, and cruiser submarine. Sub 1 and sub2 don't allow for it, though sub2 would allow for a radar as an alternative to the top torpedo module.

Thank you for the answer, very clear now ! :)
I was suspecting this, but I'm still researching sub 3 right now in my game, so couldn't easily check it..
Best regards.

depends what you're using them for. japan wants inf expert for their offensive inf. bulgaria wants ambusher for their atlantikwall. soviets want ambusher for tanks (it affects all divisions equally, not just inf).

Is the "combat's reinforce rate = first reserve unit's reinforce rate" bug still a thing, or has it been fixed?

Fairly sure I've seen non-first units getting drawn from queue now, but have no idea how it actually works. Might have just swapped the logic for the "largest bonus in queue rolls first".

Does Romania count as a major?
A "major" nation is any of the 7 countries with the most factories, plus any country that has at least 70% of the average factories of the top 7 (updated once a month). So, the list of majors changes over time as factories get built and countries get annexed.

Romania is not a major nation at game start (1936 or 1939), but it could wind up on the list.

The easiest way to see a list of current majors is to look in the Diplomacy tab. One of the filters is "Major Countries"; select that and nothing else, and you get a list of the major nations in your game.

Within the last week I received 3 updates via steam.
It wasn't a patch it seems:
- I don't play with beta
- there was no official patch
- 3 patches for launcher? I don't think so
- I don't have any mods

It does not show any hint on what was updated, whether searching in forums or in steam.
So what kind of updates are that that dont seem to be a patch?

Ah, I didn't mean non-first units couldn't reinforce, but that if the first reserve unit has a 2% reinforce rate and the others have a 15% reinforce rate, then everybody is calculated with a 2% reinforce rate.

I vaguely remember reading about such a bug, but I can't find it right now. I may have misremembered.

Do your own Mines effect your fleets and invasions?
No. The navy department keeps track of where you lay them so you don't sail over them again :) Mines affect all enemy ships, but no friendly ones.

Having an advantage in the encryption race provides some passive defense against enemy mines. (Conceptually, you learn where some of them are.)

If you play historical, and change the ideology of a country, will they still pick the same focuses? For example, if you influence Portugal into becoming fascist, will they begin picking the fascist focuses?
