Does a maintenance support company decrease the attrition from the "exercise" order? (land units) Its definelity the case for the "-8% attrition" military advisor, attrition decreases from 6% to 5.5% when exercising in mint environment. I wonder if I can further decrease it by adding that support company.

Where exactly on the wiki did you see what you copied? I see "Communism is not limited by world tension" which means you are not at all diplomatically limited. The "Impact of war declaration on World Tension: -25%" means your declaration will make people less angry which means the allies are less likely to start using their guarantees against you or prioritizing joining wars you start (as long as the Fascists are doing their normal thing and making everyone angry)

This is the page I found it on. http://www.hoi4wiki.com/World_tension

Since my post, I, as the Soviet Union justified war claims against Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Finland. None were aligned, and I only had to fight a (very short) war with Finland after they refused my demands for peaceful annexation. The world tension raised from these actions was minimal (something like 2% total), had no negative effect on relations with the other powers, and did not lead to any faction conflict whatsoever. It was unclear that I could do this without bothering anyone. I think it would be nice if the game somehow made this clear to you.

So, if I started a game as the Soviet Union and immediately started generating war claims on...let's say Norway, what would the political and world tension ramifications be if I carried out the claims? I assume if Norway submits to a peaceful annexation, it would generate less world tension than if I went to war. How do you know if a country will have their independence guaranteed by the Allies or choose to side with Axis? Are there any indicators to look out for? Is there any way to know this without experimentation? Is it somewhat random every game?

How can you cancel a naval transport once you've ordered one?

(More details on the situation: Game paused; division decides to take three months sailing around Africa the long way to get to Gibraltar; I change my mind, but the unit is now "transporting". Can't order to move to its current province, nor change the destination port. Even if the ship were in the middle of the Atlantic already, you could radio it with a change of orders. But with the pause, no one's even set foot on a convoy yet...)

So the page you put there doesn't say anything about communism facing tension limits, so I'm still not sure where you found that part, but on the reduction...

But no, you can't annex everything, every time. They also care more about things closer to home, and right now there is an AI issue (Beta patch notes: "AI containment score no longer goes massively negative if a major is farther away than germany meaning Allies can guarantee vs soviet aggression if they are worse than Germany").

The AI makes decisions on who to guarantee based somewhat on how much tension you've already generated. That's your indicator. Right now, the "Containment" issue mentioned above makes it harder (impossible?) for the Soviets to get attention from the Allies early on. The Axis doesn't really bother with guarantees in most cases. In any case, without knowing the exact circumstances, one can't say "Norway for sure will be guaranteed"

Thanks a lot. That cleared things up. Here is a screenshot from the world tension page.

Press H, it's the shortcut for the Hold order in Fleets, and that pauses the movement. You can then freely redirect.

Is there a way to see the total number of victory points held by a country?

As well, is there any way to see the number of victory points needed to make a country capitulate?

I don't believe there is a way to see all victory points right now, though lots of people complained about it, so we may see it in the future.

When you go to the war screen (Clicking on the "We're at war" icon) you can hover over the green/red line under the country's name to see how much % of the victory points you need to own before they capitulate. This amount is linked to a country's national unity, so after nuking them you won't actually have more VPs, but they will capitulate sooner.

Hello, there is a way to create a wing without having a right plane in reserve? I mean creating a wing 0/100 for example.
It's annoying having to take a plane from another wing to do it.

I have a question about airbases and their size limit.

I upgraded an airbase to 10/10 (actually I upgraded a couple of them). I noticed with this particular one that the amount of planes that could be based there did not increase. It stayed at 200.

Can someone please tell me if they have noticed this and why it would happen? If it is a bug, I will report it.

Thanks

Figured it out. And not sure if it is a bug or not. This odd capping of the airbase happens when I set the upgrade to increase the two airbases to 10/10 BEFORE I have finished the Rhineland NF. If I wait to set the order to increase to 10/10 after I finish Rhineland the airbase capacity for each airbase goes up to 2000.

That does indeed look like a bug. Report away!

Do civil wars destroy infrastructure? I've just fought one as Britain and found I've lost 5 naval yards and 1 mil factory (not damaged, plain gone). Is this normal or is something screwy going on?
Yes can happen.

How do you move an existing command group (army leader and his assigned troops) from one theater to another?

(Selecting a general and choosing New Theater puts him into the new theater. How does a second general get there? Left- or right-click and drag between the theater docks doesn't work, and I didn't see a button anywhere on the leader dialog to set their theater. Is there a better way to do it than (a) remove the leader; (b) choose the destination theater; (c) reform the command group with the leader in the new theater? Removing the leader is problematic as it disrupts planning and orders. It should be possible just to reorg an existing set of generals from, say, everyone in "Europe" to some in "Germany" and some in "Mediterranean" without stopping ongoing operations or re-selecting units. But I haven't found that UI quirk to reshuffle who's in which dock.)

I see a lot of posts complaining about being able to field too many divisions, especially as Germany. With manpower limits, how is this possible? In my game as Germany, I only have something like 200 divisions (18 - 20 width size) and the game is screaming at me that I have too low of manpower (even though I still show over 500K manpower left). I assume you can alleviate some of this with conscription laws but doesn't that very negatively affect production?

Also, for production, I tried to go to the all-out-war mobilization for production (forget what it's called exactly), and manpower immediately dropped to 0 (from like 800K)! Is this supposed to happen? If so, how could it possibly help?

Sorry for such noob questions. I am REALLY poor at trying to figure out the ins and outs of a game because I tend to role-play games instead of "game the system" to exploit (i.e. find the most advantageous way of playing that stretches the game to it's max limits, exploits loop-holes, etc.).

Thanks!

Select the group to move, by LMB-click and then RMB-click on the theater to move to.

It seems to me (if memory serves), all I've had to do is left-click on the army I want to move and then right-click the theater (upper right corner) I want it moved to. I could be wrong . . .

Oops, lihp beat me to it (and I was right!). :)

You see most stuff in tool tips.
  1. With scraping the barrel (highest man power conscritpion) its almost impossible with Germany to reach zero manpower before 1960. So manpower is not really a limit for larger nations. Even less for Soviet Union.
  2. When you are conquering successfully, you have soon unlimited production. MIC at 200-300 factories is no rare sight. And I myself also already sat on 1,200 MIC, so you actually dont care for production at the time you up conscritpion law that high.
  3. Its called total mobilization and it also takes 3% from your manpower pool. So yes its supposed to happen to drop your man power.
  4. All good in asking, thats what this thread is for :D
