When I'm in the division designer window I can see that my divisions have a production cost. What exactly does this represent? Is it how long it will take to train my units?

Training time is shown as the second line of stats in the Equipment Cost column in the division designer. Production cost is a measure of the amount of factory time it will take to build all of the equipment used by the division (the tanks, the trucks used by the support companies, support equipment, infantry weapons, etc.).

I'm not certain how they derive the range ("minimal" to "maximal" production cost). Certainly, factory-days will vary depending on production line efficiency, which depends on how much "practice" each factory has in the type of equipment you want.

So I'm currently having a very strange problem as Japan with naval invasions. I have 3 armies of marines. 6 marines in each army. I'm at peace. I want to put two of the armies on a naval invasion plan so that once war is declared they can launch immediately. But, the game isn't allowing me to do this. Once I have one naval invasion planned, any others will not allow divisions to be attached to them. My only guess is that you can only have 1 naval invasion planned if you are at peace. As I have had multiple naval invasions before, but I would be at war. Anyone else noticed this?

You are limited by your transport tech. The initial tech only allows you to have naval invasions totaling 10 divisions planned at any time. If you take 2 divisions out of your second invasion, it will let you plan it. If you want to do more, you need to research more advanced transports (at the bottom of the naval tech page).

Yes Ive got the same situation in my current game, if I hold the mouse over the activate invasion button it says not all of my units are in position. Ive tried sending less units Ive tried sending them from a different province but it just wont work and it dosent give any clue why. Would love to know what is going on.

Edit; thanks bryartuck I see you answered while I were typing, this needs a tooltip to explain why you cant invade

All that to be able to declare war first, at the good moment :)

Yeah, that is the trickier bit, and having to calculate the time to completion of the diplo action is just as tricky. I gave up bothering myself about it, though, because my bad luck always caused some other event to intervene anyway and screw up my well laid plan. Now I just use the by-guess-and-by-God method: I guess this is a good time to start my move, so by God I'm gonna go! (Of course I hedge by not "guessing" until I have already made some contingency plans to cope with the intervention of my own bad luck.)

You might try clearing ALL orders for that army, then reissuing the invade order. It could be that one or more divisions in that army still has a previous order it has not yet completed. That will cause that error, because the game expects that unit to finish it's prior orders then return to the launch province before the invasion can begin. Also double-check the simplest thing of all - that the entire army is actually present. I have numerous times gotten that error for no better reason than I had accidentally assigned an extraneous division to that army by mis-clicking on the wrong leader portrait or some such pesky little thing.

Recommendations for getting Spain into the Axis as Germany? I have finished the Alliance with Spain focus, Nationalist Spain is fascist. I have defeated France and triggered Vichy. We have 100 positive relations. World Tension is at 100.

However I am still a few points negative for them to join. I get a bonus of 35 for strategic reasons to join (I noticed it can go down to 34 too) but there is still a -50 for wars they may be drawn into. I am only fighting the Allies (not even US) right now.

I tried garrisoning 40 troops on the border to maybe get a threatened bonus but that didnt work.

It seems to me the best time to invite people to factions is before war starts? Because the -50 is killer no matter what.

Can you push your relations any higher? What i mean is, will the game even allow you to start an improve relations mission? If so, do that for sure.

It does allow me to improve relations, but I am already at the 100 point cap. I had already guaranteed their independence, did the anti comintern pact etc.

Here's the odd thing - I got them to join me by declaring war on Belgium. They had been a neutral the whole time, when I declared war I got an invitation bonus about 'wanting to stop Belgian aggression' which is ridiculous...

Ah thank you very much. I always thought the tech was for separate invasions. Not all of them.

Is it possible to split armies into smaller groups like army corps with one shortcut to give order to all units (even different type of units) in that group?

Thnx

You can create groups that you can treat as corps by assigning that group to a battle plan element of their army on the map. A defensive order or front line, for example, and they will gather there. You can create and assign to another battle plan. This can help in getting troops to ports in preparation for organizing a multi- port invasion. You can also go one step further and give them a name with a common initial designation so that in army overview they all appear in name order together.

Belgian aggression?
Ah yes, Belgium - two peoples divided by a continental capital, but one country united by a single goal - galactic empire. Or is that in Stellaris?

Yes. Orders apply to whatever group of units you have selected when you create the order. It's also possible to create an order with no units, and assign a selected group of units to it. This is often useful to do things like have one army advance on each of two wings while keeping its center in place.

If you select the commander, it normally selects all the units. You can use the standard shift-click to remove units from the selected group, or add them back. You can also select units from the map, either by shift-clicking or rubber-banding around them, to form a group.

If you've created an order with some units assigned, you can later select all units belonging to that order. That's as close as the interface gets to retaining the sub-groups as discrete things to be re-used later.

When you have a group selected, you can order them all to do the same thing with one click, without an order. This can be useful for actions like strategic movement to a port to relocate them, as well as selecting some small group to make a breakthrough attack or collapse a pocket.

How can one change the controller of a state or provinces by using commands (not annexing the whole country)?
I'd like to have Vichy France as my german puppet (just for fun), BUT only with the states it starts with during the war and not whole France as it happens after you win the war! I got all the warscore, no other country even participated in the war, so it wouldn't be cheating (just saying before this argument comes up...).

The "setcontroller" command doesn't seem to work for some reason, any other ways to do it?
Alternatively, is there any mod that could help me with this?

Have there been any guides written for the Generic Focus Tree, or build/research orders tossed around, general info for early-game as a minor?

I don't recall a general guide on the Generic Focus Tree. Lots of narrower threads though. Most of the discussion on it specifically is whether it is overpowered (for minors), what with the factories and dockyards and research bonus attached to many of them.

Getting focus factories/dockyards started up is a good starting point unless the political branches of the tree are needed for early intervention (Spanish Civil War, if it lasts long enough). Research can safely start by improving research speed, with the extra research slots used to boost industry. Usually basic infantry weapons are in short supply and already in production. Items that can be started up for a stockpile and don't go obsolete include Support Equipment and Motorized as they are useful through the game.

Ive got a quick question!! How do I improve mission efficiency with aircrafts? My naval bombers I have stationed in the Sea are red saying they are hindered and cant search the whole area. so how can i fix this and get the red to the green?

The shorter the range to the mission location, the more planes count for the mission. Changing airbases or building airbases can help, as can of course longer range aircraft (e.g., a Pacific long-range variant of your normal aircraft). Basing on an base within the zone you want to cover is ideal.

Some doctrines help mission efficiencies. But in this case, range is the main problem. You could use air xp to make an aircraft variant with improved engines, which will help the range. Later tech aircraft also have longer ranges. Also try to find an airbase close to the middle of the zone.

Alas, some air zones are just plain big no matter what you have.

Some nation also have a focus for a +50% search speed for Nav Bombers. So search ahead of time with the bonus and keep xp to improve this model (best is probably the 1943 NAV, but that mean you need wait 1941 to get the NF or use a search slot for ahead of time for the 41 and 43 models)
If you really need NAV bombers on huge sea zone, you also have carriers.
